News flash, Entropy4...they don't just say this to Americans or Brits. They routinely say this to people of other backgrounds - Africans, Muslims and others. It's ignorance to the highest degree. They were not saying, "Oh, you're like us now," they were saying, "you're not ignorant of foreign cultures and customs," like most Americans are.
They are saying 'you're not ignorant of foreign cultures and customs' - when in fact they are unknowingly ignorant themselves. That's my point.
