the best university of Colombia is still Universidad Nacional (still ranks better in most international rankings, higher scientific output, etc), although Los Andes has come very close.

A lot of Los Andes students aren't that rich, just middle class. Also, with programs like "Ser Pilo Paga", a lot of students from poor and remote areas of the country have entered the university.

Without derailing this thread too much, does anyone have any first hand knowledge of the real estate market in Bogota and any real estate contacts there? I bought an apartment in Medellin and dealt with an awesome crew there who actually knew what they were doing and got shit done fast, but they don't deal with Bogota at all. Trying to do the same thing I did in Medellin in Bogota now.

Or maybe a simpler question is, has anyone stayed in any nice buildings in Bogota that definitely allowed short term (daily/weekly) rentals?

I love it, but Colombia is still a third-world country where shit pops off quick. 0 to 100. Don't get too comfortable. Papi Rico and I got a swift reminder tonight.

Running gutter/twilight game in the streets from 230-330...

We witnessed two fights where cops were throwing haymakers, I almost got into a fight with a brother who didn't appreciate how his sister and I flirted (chest to chest before his friends pulled his drunk ass away), and Papi saved my phone from being stolen from a fat gypsy ass bitch (due to his past experiences in Vietnam).

Zona T and other areas can be great for street game (and are typically quite safe), but get the fuck out of the streets after 1 am. Shit gets grimey quick. I've been in Latin America for almost 3 years now and Papi is one of the most experienced travelers on this forum.

Just. Don't. Do. It. Go home after you leave the club.

Thanks for sharing. I like how you describe Colombia going from 0 to 100. That's very accurate. You're strolling around having the time of your life in a serene, beautiful, tranquil paradise, and then everything goes to shit.

Papi sounds cool. I hope you guys have better luck down there.

I was a bit surprised by the Colombian cops giving a beatdown. I can't figure out their deal. On the one hand they seem cool. On the other, they seem like worthless, lazy fucks. I wouldn't pick a fight with anyone's police, and not the Colombians. But they seem very feckless and the type to just haul ass at any sign of trouble.

But then there's this:

If anyone wants some Bogota data, I'm heading home in a few days after a few weeks between here and Medellin :

- I stayed in an AirBnb in Zona Rosa, two blocks from Zona T (where that Forever 21 is). Pretty much anywhere in Zona Rosa is good, also to the north (Chico) or a bit to the south (Chapinero) are good options as well. The traffic is very bad in Bogota so if you are planning to spend most of your time in Zona Rosa you will want to stay close. Most girls reacted very positively when I said I'm staying in Zona Rosa.
- I pipelined on Tinder and in 2-3 days had about 200+ matches and ~30 WhatsApps before arriving. Resulted in 5 notches in Bogota in 10 days.
- Most girls don't speak English, I don't speak Spanish, I just used Google Translate (special thanks to LINUX for inspiring me to try this, worked quite well). It was easier to bang when she did not speak English.
- I booked dates in Zona Rosa at either Juan Valdez, Crepes and Waffles, Tostao's (a cheaper coffee place), or Milk Chai (this new place with Boba Tea). All of these locations were near the Atlantis Mall, Zona T.
- Date format was pretty much drink coffee/tea/beer, be very aggressive with touching, kiss quickly then make excuse to go back to apartment (it is too hot for me, teach me some Salsa/Reggaeton dancing, my washing machine instructions are in Spanish, I want to improve my apartment's style, etc.) From there it was all endgame.
- Went out several times to Club Colombia, where you can get cheap beer and dance. Pretty much everyone is in groups but they are friendly, Spanish is probably a requirement if you want to break into their social circle (I went every time with a Tinder date so didn't try this out). Also Bogota Beer Company, where no room to dance but can sit and talk, and Jack Diamond Club, which has amazing quality but you better have great Spanish and/or your Salsa skills up to par. Pretty much all the venues are concentrated on the same few streets around Zona T, just see which place is hopping and give it a shot.
- Didn't really do day-game, but Zona T/Zona Rosa during Friday/Saturday afternoons looked good, and during the weekday universities in Chapinero might be a good option. Lots of foot traffic between the TransMilenio stops and the universities, might be good to try.

Overall was really fun, but online gets old really quick. Towards the end I stopped using Tinder a lot, mainly because I was seeing one girl more often and blocked out the others. I think online is good for short trips, but for longer hitting up Jack Diamond or one of the top clubs in Zona Rosa with a suit and a bottle (like $40) will give you access to the top shelf, which is not accessible on Tinder. If you want the best, like most people have already said, get off the online dating and break into a social circle or do day game.

Bottles of vodka and whiskey are way more than $40 USD in a decent club in Zona T in 2017. Other than that - great breakdown.

By chance, were you the semi-goofy looking gringo rolling in beige cargo shorts and a black V-neck around Atlantis a few times with a pretty fine chick?

If so, congrats. She was solid [Image: wink.gif]

Bottles of Aguardiente are a bit cheaper, but yeah I agree whiskey is going to run you much more. Also no, I rolled with collared shirt, jeans and nice shoes. I'm trying to avoid looking like a backpacker.

Guys, I just heard from a reliable source that El Castillo strip club in Sante FE, one of the best in the city, has been shut down, shitty news.

Whiskey/vodka is about $90-100 in the nicer clubs and aguardiente is $50 (Hotel V & Jack Diamond).

Or I could just stand on the street and drink a quart of Guaro for 3 bucks.

Carulla is great, got a bunch of Aguardiente there for dirt cheap.

For the guys that have gotten robbed and/or violence in colombia are the majority of the criminals black?

You don't hear about these things in other 2nd/3rd world countries as much as those with less blacks so I'm assuming right now that's the deciding factor.

Ask in the Colombia master thread and you’ll be more likely to get a response.

can anyone say what they believe to be the best hotel(5 star quality) in Bogota? I am researching and get different options.

I stayed 3 days in W hotel Usaquen and it's fine as fuck

Great view, room with designed stuff, gym and pool incredible

Any issues bringing girls back to the upscale hotels in Bogota? I get the appeal of AirBNB but (1) I have lots of points and (2) every other girl I hook up when I do a short trip seems to be on the rag, so I like the ability for housekeeping to clean up after me.

All are different, but most upscale hotels unless she is registered with you on check in will charge a joiner fee to your bill on checkout....best to check with the hotel before check in to verify.....

Some hotels will let a guest stay for up to one hour free of charge, which is no problem for me as I tend to ejaculate in under five minutes.

Thanks for tall the replies. Definitely sounds like AirBNB is the way to go. I'm in Bogota 10/18 - 10/21, if anyone wants to go out. I speak reasonably fluent Spanish and used to work there ages ago, but this is the first trip back in about 10 years.

I’ll be in Bogota for the weekend beginning Saturday the 13th to Monday the 15th. I had planned on being preoccupied on a mini relationship with a 21 YO Venezuelan, but I’m abandoning the idea. Some of the craziest things that have happened to me were in Bogota.

Was in Bogota a few days, a bit underwhelmed from quality coming from Medellin. Girls looks more natural (which some forum members might like) and colder.
Also I was staying in a shitty zone (near Av Caracas) which was pretty dodgy at night, people sniffing paint in the corners and that kind of shit. Hotel was good and cheap though ($25 per night) and just a 15 mins uber to zona t.

Was mainly hanging out with a girl I had there but did a bit of daygame and I managed to get a coffee insta-date with a good looking 18 years old. Didnt get anywhere as I was sleeping with my main girl anyway but we kept in touch and will keep here in the pipeline for future visits.
From what I have seen girls are a bit shy to open at the beginning but interested in you being foreigner etc.

Good spots to check out are the shopping malls in the Zona T (zona rosa): Andino, El Retiro and Atlantis Plaza (this is closed now). Also the street that goes along is full of middle to high end shops and reminded me a bit of a European shopping street. Lot of opportunities to meet girls. Chapinero is supposed to be good too.
At night in the whole Zona T was good, I recommend the clubs Furia, Morena and Bungalow to check out. You might need reservation for some of them, first time in my life I show up to a club with 2 hot girls and got rejected for not having a table booked. Might be an issue getting in if rolling solo, I didnt have to try that but maybe handing a propina to the security at the entrance if they are not letting you in might work.

In terms of black do you mean just super dark hispanic? I don't see too many blacks but most of the robberies I have ever heard of or seen (which is a lot) was done by people who looks and speak like locals.

Blacks account for roughly 10% of Colombia’s population, you’ll see more in cities like Cali and Cartagena that are closer to the coasts than you will the interior cities like Bogota and Medellin.

If you are anywhere in Colombia at night and it's dark but you see a set of eyes and teeth moving towards you just turn around and run.

In all seriousness the only people in Colombia who you can trust to not rob you are the people who have more money than you. Since you can't verify bank information just be weary of everyone no matter what their skin color is.
