Uh, she might not have to have Stoya prove she's been raped to believe her, but as a de facto journalist by the fact she's running a blog, she does generally have to have a solid basis upon which to publish or republish allegations like this, if I understand defamation/libel correctly. Courts are willing to provide damage for reckless republication of material upon which doesn't have a solid basis of truth. She has quite literally said she believes there's no evidence other than "he said/she said", and yet she has gone ahead and published the accusation of rape anyway. Assuming Deen can afford a half-decent lawyer, this post surely is a gimme for a defamation suit.

If that's all it takes to get a writer canned, can we round up some women we know and have them make accusation after accusation about writers we don't like from Newsweek, The New York Times, Vox, and Salon?

I mean, if it's that simple, we could have every annoying male writer out of a job by next week if we go about this the right way. Let's "brand" a social media campaign: "Make a Tweet -- Lose a Job!"

This is the most unbelievable rape story I have read since the UVA one.

Not "nowadays". It's been the practice in Australia for many years. Google up Kevin Ibbs, who was sent to prison as a result of this ruling, and who for bonus points was the subject of a false rape accusation later discovered and prosecuted upon.



P.S.: With the Tori Lux story, note very carefully in the article: she does not say she was raped by Deen. Nor does she say she was sexually assaulted. Her narrative is one of plain old physical assault at Deen's hands. No magic rape shame fairy keeping her from the cops this time -- she spins the line that because someone's a porn star, cops don't believe them when they say they've been attacked by, well, anyone.

Only problem with that bullshit: War Machine's present incarceration for Christy Mack, which likewise was a physical assault and not a rape, and for which there was pretty potent physical evidence. Take a look at how Lux describes the assault against her--

There's eyewitnesses who can be named and interviewed by police, unlike rape.

That's a very, very different kettle of fish to "he said, she said". And even more forehead-slappingly bad is the fact she goes on to say the industry is not dangerous or oppressive. The hamster and the desire not to bite the hand that feeds her is strong as fuck in this one, especially in her assertion that other people were around and didn't intervene.
