This is yet another development in the decline of Western Civilization I have never heard of. Why is a woman willing to freeze her ass off at -240F but she feels threatened if you say hello to her at Border's Bookstore?

She feels threatened if you look like a fat, ugly fuck who smells bad. She won't feel threatened if you look like Bieber, Cruise or whoever is hot these days and you can carry a conversation like a normal human being.

You forgot to mention Frosty the Snowman. Being "hot" is over the hill.

I've used LN2 and LHe in the lab many years with reams of paperwork and safety training. I was told it took as little as 2 breaths to pass out in an oxygen deficient atmosphere, since you don't exchange all the gas in your lungs with every breath. One ought to be able to crouch down, feel around, and pick something up in a few seconds. Between that and the fact that the phone was found outside the chamber makes me wonder what the hell really happened.

I'd be extremely surprised if you're allowed to operate that equipment without an attendant. My best guess is she developed a tolerance to the treatment, really pushed the envelope in terms of time inside, and had some difficulty opening the door. It caught or didn't open right away, and she panics/passes out.

Tragic, RIP.

Puts a spin on grabbing a cold one after work.
Would she give everyone a cold shoulder?
At least she is super cool now.
Just can't chat these ice queens up.

I am guessing that the guys here who are making jokes about the girl's death are the ones who spend less time in real life with women than the guys who find the posts to be tasteless and unnecessary.

I think the jury is out on why some people find some dark humor funny and not other dark humor.

I remember the thread about Jim Carrey's ex-girlfriend committing suicide:

thread-50760...nd+suicide

On that thread, anyone who showed sympathy for the girl or her family, like me for instance, was in the minority.

It was her own fault. Don't be a white knight. You only feel sorry for her because she was cute. Etc.

In this thread there are far more voices in support of the girl who died.

Why does one deserve sympathy, and the other deserve dark one liners?

I don't know. I made a joke in this thread. Didn't make any in the other. Don't know exactly why.

I don't know if you can tie it directly to who gets pussy and who doesn't. Carrey's girlfriend committed suicide, so maybe the people who felt sympathy for her have had friends who committed suicide. Maybe not.

Maybe the people who have sympathy for the girl in this thread are just tired of everything being taken lightly all the time.

It is an interesting topic, and the jury is definitely still out.

The only thing that I know for sure is that in the modern world, the internet brings a lot more of the fucked up stuff to your attention, even shows you videos of it, and I wouldn't be surprised if the black humor is a coping strategy as much as anything else, and not an indicator of a person's general character.

The other alternative is that if you highlight the folly then less people in the future will be likely to do something that is extremely dangerous because it is a fad dressed up in pseudo-scientific jargon. We have a sense of humor for a purpose. It made our ancestors more likely to survive.

@bacon

Maybe just less experience with untimely deaths of close ones in general or as a defense mechanism to avoid the idea of how fragile life is. I know sometimes I have a dark sense of humor sometimes because the idea that you can be gone in an instant makes me uncomfortable too.

Very clever, "icy" what you did there!

I find it odd that you're taking stance of moral superiority and then throwing ad hominem insults in the same sentence. Some of us have a different sense of humor...we can't be serious all the time.

No need to get upset by the thread Bacan, cooler heads will prevail, haha

In the cold light of day, some may conclude that she is more deserving of sympathy rather than opprobrium.

Something about blaming it on reaching for a cell phone sounds way off.

If the tank she was in was anything like the picture of LeBron earlier in this thread, how could she have even bent down to try and pick up her phone if it fell? It looks like an upright coffin, no room to bend the knees. Plus if her body was sore from a workout as implied in the original article, her arms would be inside the tank, not trying to hold a cell above the rim of the machine. Unless the new iPhone works in -240 fahrenheit, she wouldn't put such an expensive device anywhere near that tank.

Not to sound like a complete luddite, but if it's a problem with the machine, you can bet the manufacturers would bury that defect as fast as possible, blaming 'human error'.

the people riding in on the holier-than-thou morality horse in this thread probably laughed at some goofy death or darwins award winner in their life. Lighten up, nobody is really celebrating this death per se, it's just pretty goofy circumstances

Just did my first Cryotherapy session in Santa Monica CA

Signed a digital waiver, cutie at the front desk checked my heart rate.

Got naked, put on some underwear, two pairs of gloves, pair of socks, and a pair of UGG looking boots. All provided by them.

Stepped in the chamber once I was ready, pressed the button that buzzed the girl from front desk. She then turned on the machine and stayed there with me the entire 3 minutes.

Started off nice the first minute (thought to myself this is a piece of cake)

Got pretty freaking cold towards the middle-end but if you've taken cold showers or even contrast showers then this will be an easy 3 minutes for you.

Ice baths are way more painful/tough.

First thing I noticed was my skin felt extremely soft. My body also feels as if I just had a nice massage and I also got tons of energy afterwards.

I will definitely incorporate Cryotherapy into my lifestyle from now on. Been training for boxing hard the last two weeks and don't plan on stopping any time soon.

I used this app called classpass that offers Yoga, Boxing, BJJ, Pilates, Cryotherapy.

$19.99 for 3 classes (max 2 per studio)

Will be doing the monthly 10 classes (max 3 per studio)for $115 a month.

Sweet deal considering 1 session of Cryotherapy is $60 or 4 for $150.

In conclusion, Cryotherapy was a great experience and my body feels amazing. Will continue to do it.

Well... Have any men died in this way? If not, it's probably safe to say it was indeed because of her gender.
