My personal favourite is the internet, because had it not been for the web, I would probably have gone crazy or addicted to drugs because of lack of game.

The modern disc loaded barbell, along with the squat rack. Man has lifted for thousands of years and only in the last hundred or so has man thought to squat easily loaded, adjustable weight.

Refrigeration and Air Conditioning are big ones. They made a lot of places in the world a lot more habitable and productive in terms of output. Try working in an office in Los Angeles in the summer with no AC and see how long you last.

Refrigeration also made a huge change to the food supply. It stopped a lot of food perishing.

i can't imagine how stupid i would be without the internet - for example, i don't think i would have ever stumbled across game without the internet (literally googled how to get girls one day)

have like 400+ books on my kindle, including some of the greatest books of all time, ranging from ancient to classical to modern

As great as the internet is, I can safely say that I was happier before it existed.

I'm gonna go with irrigation and plumbing. You can talk about fluoride and hormones and all the other shit in the water, but having clean water is an insane luxury that much of the world does without. And for a few hundred bucks you can get a state-of-the-art reverse osmosis system that makes your water 99% pure while still retaining its mineral content. The fact that this is available to even lower class demographic is insane to me, even if most people don't realize it or take advantage of it.

Anyone with a small plot of soil in the U.S. can grow their own food, take hot showers, wash their clothes, wash dishes, drink safe water, have a lawn, wash their car...most people take this for granted and don't realize how much of a luxury it really is.
