I regret to inform you that the smart-phone disease is a pandemic that infects any human being who is contact with the VIRUS. You have spoken a lot about Europe, Lat Am, and USA-Canada. Don´t you think Korean or Japanese girls are pretty much the same? For sure it won´t be a problem in Papua-New Guinea or Haiti for obvious reasons.

Spain is not an exception to this gay-phone, crap-berry fever, same with social networks. Here people say that if something is not in facebook it didn´t happen. When they´re posing for a picture they scream ¡foto tuenti! (being tuenti spanish facebook), and if you don´t have a smart phone with whatsapp it's like if you were a lepper.

Two of the weirdes situations I´ve witnessed related with social networks and smartphones were one being out for tapas with friends and a coupe of girls talking with each other not by voice but using their smartphones even though they were sitting next to each other... they spent half of the night typing hi hi hi, hi hi hi typing... the other an argument between a guy and his gf because of the pictures she uploaded to fb and some comments douchbags made. Men they were in their late twenties, I couldn´t believe that was happening.

You may say if everything else fails you can always go east. Wrong, when I was in Ucraine I found girls doing some office jobs in which they earned less than 400 $ with iphones and whose facebook are filled with them trying on clothes in shops, eating in restaurants, etc. I don´t know how they make the ends meet, after paying the rent, bills, iphone related stuff, transport, etc I understand why they´re all so slim and elegant, they've no money left for food to keep up with the western consumerism so they eat like little birds.

It´s said American girls sit in front of tv and eat chocolate ice-cream when they're sad, well, over here they just upload a sexy picture and wait for a legion of horny men tell them how pretty they are, how sexy they look and how much they´d like to take her to a desert island and repopulate it with their siblings. Facebook means food for their egos. There is a song by a local hiphop singer saying "Shut the fucking Facebook UP" Take a look at it:

Yes, it's sad, but complaining about it won't do any good because the situation is just going to worsen, it's not going to implode, it's going to get more extreme.

So what's the solution? What do you do about it?

I think there are some great answers on this thread and some others that are similar, e.g. say or do something jerky that gets the point across that either she's going to rapport with you or you're gone. That's when you're one-on-one with a girl, and it's a good gauge of investment/interest.

But that doesn't mean anything about the social impact of the smartphone/facebook pandemic. Who are the guys that use social media to get laid????

Hunter Moore is an extreme example who used social media by pretty much making fun of the prevalent exhibitionism and it got him laid like crazy. But what he did is not really replicable by most of us who won't dedicate their lives to making an exhibitionist website because of our other responsibilities.

I know there are goods at my local college who are using facebook to get laid. It's a part of social circle game. I think if you realize that it's just for social circle and it's NOT a threat, it puts it more into perspective. The obstacle then becomes if you're not one of the "in-crowd" who uses FB as a social circle get-laid tool, then how do you do that? What are the correct behaviors? What are the pictures to put up?

If you think too much about your picture and status updates, it shows. But if you don't think at all before putting up stupid shit that you think is cool but that no one else does, that shows too.

It's just another aspect of game to learn, but an important one if you're aiming for those 20-somethings.

Didn't somebody post an industrial strength one that would take out cell phones in a whole highrise?

No, they will not.

The cell phone technology is good enough to resist the interference. Therefore you'd need a major RF transmitter to tamper with the tower communications to the level it blocks the SMS transmission. Even GSM is quite hard to deal with; CDMA is even worse, and you have multiple frequencies. Not to mention most GSM stuff you get from China only transmits on 900/1800MHz, and AFAIR no US cell phone provider ever used 900 or 1800 (they use 850 and 1900).

I can bet money that a working transmitter which would cover even a small area (let's say 30sqft) won't be the pocket size, would be quite dangerous to carry close to your dick, and won't work on a battery long enough. You're looking for something of the size of average amplifier. Not worth bothering.
