Trip report: all inclusive resort in Puerto Plata
TLDR: Stayed at a mega resort with family, it was nice but a bit boring so uncle Scotian fucked off one night to Santiago and had a good time with the local ladies.
I've been freezing my ass off in Canada after coming back from Colombia about five weeks ago (on short notice, I was supposed to be there until April), I was getting cabin fever and bad case of the winter blues so when my sister suggested that we take off down south for a week, I was all over it. We decided on the DR because I refuse to go to Cuba and she is scared of Mexico haha, we booked an all inclusive package through Sunwing at the Rio Merengue resort in Puerto Plata and for the three of us (two adults, one child) it came out to $3,345 Cdn ($2482 Usd), which is a great price. Also, its direct flight so we flew from Halifax to PP and arrived in four hours, you can't really beat that, it takes longer for me to fly to work in Alberta!
The resort: Riu Merengue is a massive complex and I thought it was a pretty nice place overall. The beach is ok but nothing too impressive, there are multiple pools including one with a swim up bar, the food was pretty good overall (especially the chicken!) but the steak was weak which is to be expected in the Caribbean, fish was really good too. There's actually three separate resorts in the entire complex and also a small port where cruise ships dock. Clientele was mostly Canadian, including many Quebecers who, according to the staff I spoke to, are the worst tourists in the world hahaha. Quite a few Russians, Euros and I also met a few Americans but there weren't many, which is surprising considering how close it is to the US. There was nightly entertainment from 7:30 to 9:30 for kids and then 9:30 until 11:00 for adults but the place got pretty quiet after that, the night club which opens at 11pm was dead every time I went. Its unlimited drinks and food and its all included, cocktails and beer were pretty good, if you want really prompt service, give the bartenders a US dollar and you'll be good to go, although you'll still get served without it. Most resort staff spoke decent English but they definitely liked that I spoke to them in Spanish.
One thing that I didn't really like about the resort was how over priced everything that wasn't included in the package was ($80 massages, $7 cigarettes, etc) and the resort staff discouraged leaving the resort by telling guests it was dangerous, the taxis into PP were also ridiculous, quoting $40 round trip into town (15 minute drive), I walked off the resort, about 500 meters and caught a collective bus for 25 pesos or about $0.50.
Puerto Plata: I went in there a few times to pick up smokes and souvenirs and wasn't overly impressed, kind of a dump of a little town but they are actively fixing up the centre town square at the cathedral so it should be a lot nicer by next year.
Santiago: After sitting around the resort and being a good uncle and not getting wasted and hanging out with my family, uncle Scotian needed some action so I hopped on a bus into Santiago and arrived around noon. Found an awesome little Airbnb rental in a big house with apartment style rooms for $40/night (PM me for details) which is about four blocks from the monument, no security to cock block and a nice pool. I had two chicas lined up and the one in the after noon showed up on time at calle del sol near the monument, I took her to a restaurant and we both had lunch and a couple of beers, I then suggested we go back to the hotel to swim (she brought a swim suit). Thankfully it started raining so we just stayed in my room and eventually I was banging her brains out, Dominican flag captured. She had massive tits and a fat ass, light skinned morena but she must have gained a few pounds since she took her Tinder photos (not obese or anything but very thick), still not bad and of course it wasn't the first time I've banged a bigger girl, motor boating her huge cannons and bending her arse over was great, screwed two times then sent her on her way. She didn't want to go home but I told her I wanted to sleep, she accused me of using her for sex and acting like a Dominican guy haha, I gave her 300 pesos for a taxi and told her to go home, said thanks and good night, I wasn't in the mood to argue. I would rate the girl a 5, 6 in the Tinder photos but I got SIF'd, oh well, won't be the last time I smash pissers with a 5.
So I chilled in the hotel for a bit and hit up my local contact RVF member Balls Deep who unfortunately wasn't in town. He suggested Levels which is apparently posh or Lovera Dos which is apparently ghetto, of course I went with the latter because I love ghetto girls. I got there at 10:30 which was way too early so I went to a restaurant that had karaoke, ate a big plate of fish and slammed five of those big liter bottles of Presidente beer, it was loud as fuck and full of people singing, I just sat there drinking and smoking darts and trying to get girls off POF and Tinder to come out because the second girl I was trying to get out wasn't responding so I figured it was a flake. I was about to pack it in and go to the hotel when at 12:30 this girl texts me saying she was sorry but didn't have wifi but she could come and would arrive at 1:30, which was a bit later but fuck it I said ok, so I bounced to Lovera Dos and waited for her there. As I waited, I asked the server for the wifi code, which she put into my phone, as she was doing so, I jokingly asked her for her whatsapp, which she also put in, nice! Then my date showed up, a 5'2 110 lbs Haitian spinner, the waitress wasn't too impressed but fuck it, we had a beer then went across the street to grab some street grub. She had her over night bag so it was obvious that she was staying over, we then went to the hotel and there was no LMR, it was straight to pound town! I railed the snot out of her for a solid two hours, went through half a box of rubbers, it was some of the best sex I've had in awhile, we then passed out at 5am, woke up at 10 and I walked her to a bus stop. She was one of the most pleasant girls I've been with in recent memory, tight body but not the best face, I'd give her a 6. I then checked out of the hotel and took a bus back to the resort, where I chilled for two more days drinking pina coladas in the sun and enjoying my vacation time with my family. We also did an excursion near PP and did zip lining and horse back riding which was pretty fun too.
Overall impression of the DR: I really liked it, I didn't get to see as much as I liked but I will definitely be back, you just can't beat the cheap direct flights from Canada, friendly people, decent prices and easy, very approachable women with crazy T&A and friendly demeanor. I am seriously considering making the DR my go-to spot instead of Colombia but will make that final decision on my next trip which will likely be 3-4 weeks to see more of the country.
