The new 13-episode season places ten hardcore survivalists alone on northern Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

Vancouver Island again?
That is far more annoying than the two women participating.
Everyone of the contestants saw season 1, they know what to expect by now.
What gear to bring, what's useful and what's not, what to watch out for and pay attention to, what works best, what mistakes to avoid, etc.
I can't imagine it being as interesting as dropping them into some environment they could hardly prepare for upfront and where they cannot live off the experiences made by others in the exact same situation before them.
Why not do a season in a tropical rainforest, a savannah, a desert, the arctic circle, an alpine landscape, or wetlands/swampland/marshland?

Given that the participants most likely will be well prepared, and yet there's still 13 episodes, I'd guess that there will be less survival skills and challenges on display, but instead more artificially generated drama and classic reality tv elements.

I'm all about tropical islands.

Damn as much as I loved the first I'm kinda od'ing on survival shows right now.

Naked and Afraid, The Island, Survior (I know I know...) and now Alone again!

On Bear Grylls they had to bail out the women several times, on what should have arguably been adventure-ending problems. When the women were finished, they spent the last two days decorating their area instead of hunting for food. Appearances over functionality.

I hope they don't do the same thing this time around; and quite frankly that mother of two is just irresponsible.

The 3rd Season has already started i think we're up to the 3rd or 4th Episode. They put the women and men on the same Island. It's actually funny... The women have so far been fighting and crying then hugging it out then crying. They essentially Drank crappy water that made them sick before the men came a long and slept in a pretty shitty place.

Sorry for the spoilers but for me its been funny.

I knew that he would be the first one to tap out before the show even started. Years of watching movies and TV series have taught me.

Think about it, a bunch of naive American guys and gals on a camping trip end up being lost in the wilderness with no contact to the outside world.
They get separated from each other and have to spend the night in the deep, dark forest unaware of what's lurking in the woods.
Of course the black guy is the first one to go down!

It looks like these women are a little more hardcore. Unfortunate what happened to the one woman, I think she could of gone a lot farther.

I watched the first season on a pirate site, and there must be like a billion commercials in the actual broadcast, given the number of cuts where they'd repeat something they just said.

"It's day 27, and Bob just ate a slimy slug." cut to panning shot of Vancouver coastline, "Day 27! Nothing on the fishing line, so homemade escargot's on the menu for Bob." cut to another panning shot of the coastline "So to recap, it's day 27 and Bob's feeling a bit sluggish after his meal. Because he ate a slug."

How the fuck does anyone watch actual TV anymore?

Again in this series, we're seeing that the hippie guy is a lot tougher than you'd think. He should put some damn shoes on though.

I like the MILF. She seems totally loopy but happy.

At this point my money's on Jose. He seems humble and competent.

I think Jose has got it sans any accidents etc

I thought the hippy looked like he might break quickly

I've got mad respect for all the women on it.

I'd be perfectly satisfied if one of the women one. Sure, it will play into the silly "women can do anything that men can do" narrative, but if they earn it, they earn it. The women aren't getting special treatment.

I saw the axe injury coming a mile away with the dumb ("follow your dreams!") feminist dumbie. She wasn't going to last, even if she didn't hurt herself. Still, I give her credit for giving it a shot. She has more skills and knowledge in this department than I do.

The MILF seems credible, but the manbearwomanbeast female also has potential. She demonstrates a ton of balls taking on the bears at the end of the episode. I'd cry like a baby if I had a close encounter like that. She knew exactly what to do and she did it, unlike the police officer last season and the military scaredy cat this season.

I also appreciate her vulnerability and honest about the active shooter incident. Admitting your faults takes balls.

I think one of the male contestants is going to take the win in the end, but I don't mind the extra screen time given to the women at this point, because they are definitely contenders who have achieved a lot to be on day six with lots of fuel in the tank.

The dude who created the friction fire after hours of disappointment has my full respect. I expected him to be going home, but he set his mind to creating fire and he succeeded due to full commitment. I don't think he's going to win at this point, because he's at a significant daily disadvantage, but he's a better man than I.

Just finished episode 5. Out of the ten contestants, 2 women and 1 man have gone home.

Only one woman remains, but fortunately, she's the MILF with the smile who doesn't waste too much time talking about gurlpowa. She's doing well, too. Her shelter is fucking impressive and makes me wonder why no one else goes through the same level of effort to build something cozy and secure.

Otherwise, the field is pretty open with some doing better than others, but everyone else seems to be surviving and even those who lag behind seem to be gaining ground with finding protein.

Hope the season continues to be interesting.

I'd have no problem rooting for someone like that who just kept her head down and worked.

Yep, the remaining woman has got a good shelter, and got lucky with her food (and not getting eaten by a bear.)

I'm glad the damn dyke is gone. I had to fast forward through her crap. I love the rationalization that she left because she was so upset at herself being violent and aggressive towards those poor bears in her camp.

If I had to bet on a winner with the little info we have, it'd be the guy who made his own gill net. Contrast that with the previous season of The Island, where the girls decided to do the same thing, and 8 of them took 5 days to do it!

Just caught up with the new season; it's still the best 'reality' show around - no annoying host explaining every little detail to you.

As Belgrano mentioned here earlier, This season I think you'll see them surviving for much longer due to the info they get from the first season. Only 3 have dropped out in 9 days - they lost that many in 3 days the first time around.

Womanbearpig (I honestly thought she was tranny when they first showed her) had the worst reason for quitting. She's lived with violence all her life, and doesn't understand that it might be needed in a survival situation? What the fuck? Total cop-out reason.

I sense something ominous happening with the MILF and the bears soon. Her happy-go-lucky attitude towards them and the amount of airtime they're giving her seems to be a foreshadowing.

In contrast to that, I think Jose the spanish dude will win simply because of how little airtime he is getting.

You want to talk about ominous? What about the shot in the intro of the wolf on the beach charging the moving camera? I would be very surprised if there was an actual predator attack on this show, but it could happen I guess.

The injured hand from the intro was in the show.

I doubt the wolf is a pick-up shot, but they're unlikely to be showing someone getting mauled to death.

I just watched episode 6. Nothing too new, just the remaining participants living life.

The decision by the one guy to move to a new location seems to be a very positive thing for him. Looking forward to seeing how this affects his future on the show.

I think the lone remaining female is going to drop soon. She seems pretty emotional at the end of the day. Once the excitement of "amazing moments" ends, she's gonna come up with some hamster excuse to go home.

The dude at the end of the episode is clearly going to tap out soon as well.

Ya I think you're right. Randy the Hipster Faggot is doing that rationalizing they all do right before they tap out:

"I want to leave while it's still fun."
"I wonder if this place has more to give me."
"Why am I here?"

FFS - you're there to win the fucking competition. Sack up.

I think the woman is virtue signaling. What woman is ever that emotional about her dead stepson?

Their contestants suffer from a severe charisma shortage. The only guy I actually enjoy watching is the mid 30s military guy who works out. Whenever the other ones come on I feel downright depressed.

I'm all caught up -- saw all 7 episodes today.
(Spoilers)

Ridiculous that the black guy couldn't even last more than few hours after boasting about how he was going to fight and kill the bears...

Then the next two are women..

You guys think it was a good idea for Justin to throw away that duck he found? I guess he's been fine without it.

So far I've been impressed with a lot of people: David making his own his own gill net, but we'll see if it actually works for him. Justin's muscle beach, swing and urinal (!) are awesome. Mike's boat is great. Nicole and Randy made great houses for themselves.

It's interesting to see how luck plays a big role.. Nicole catching these huge salmon even though she's never even used a gill net before, for example.. or Larry's place getting infested by a mouse..

And how one mistake can fuck you over so badly, like the girl who cut herself or Randy who destroyed his farro rod..

Though I'm betting on a guy winning, Nicole has a nice positive outlook. Larry's cursing is hilarious.

This is a better crew. 6/10 went out within 8 days in the first season. This season 7/10 have made it at least 17 days.

Seems like these guys are going to have to work a lot harder for their $500k than they did last season..

Certainly more hardcore but goddamn annoying and unbelievably unattractive (both physically and behaviorally). And certainly no one you'd want to get together and have babies with. I'm on S2 episode 3 and just watched the one woman get rescued after giving herself that gnarly gash to her hand with an axe.

Agreed, I think she's being selfish and irresponsible with her kids. Kind of ironic she's talking about strength and la-dee-da and nearly wacks off her own hand talking so much while wielding that sharp weapon. Safety 101. What a moron. Funny how right afterward they cut to Larry who is coincidentally talking about axe safety. "I try to be as careful as I can, everybody does." [Image: lol.gif]

I really did think the fat woman was a large man with bitch tits for the first few minutes of the episode they premiered her in, and she seems much stronger than the others.

I actually cringed the first few times it said "X People Remain" instead of men. Why'd they have to go and ruin another manly show like that? Though I'm not surprised. At least the women might serve as comic relief.

I was just waiting for that to happen.

Splitting wood in like that, it was pretty much inevitable. Combine that with fatigue, and it's a sure thing.

Fuck she was annoying with the constant commentary about raising her girls to be strong, independent and adventure seeking. Yeah, because they are exactly the qualities that men look for in women.

And essential items such as pocket knives and ferro rods, I'd be hooking that shit up on a belt of sorts - that way you know where it is at all times, on your person.

No new episode of Alone this week due to the Showing of "Roots". I wasn't planning on watching Roots, but I was curious to see why they would remake the original. It started off keeping me interested but the ending was a huge disappointment and felt almost unbelievable. If you're going to remake a Classic, you have to come better than that. I'm glad Alone is back this week, unless they bump it for Roots reshowings[Image: confused.gif]
