As much as I hate to admit it:

Gotta be the one guy showing the lurkers that not everyone's life on here is sunshine and roses.

This track appears in my two favorite childhood movies (Hackers and Mortal Kombat) and it really transports me back to that time period of 90's cyberpunk that became the center of my childhood.

This was extremely difficult, but I've made up my mind.

It reminds me of my past, gives me inspiration for my present, and describes the dreams I have for my future. I've loved it since I first heard it on September 11th of 2007. That MJ sample too, damn.

For the tears that have poured the years I've endured
When anxiety and fear left me floored
The stress would creep from down under like koala bears
Had me gritting my teeth and pulling out my noggin hairs
But now, through some type of dumb luck
I've come up and I'm awestruck
By my surroundings

Man, that's like asking me to choose a favourite sunset. How the hell am I supposed to pick? Or even, how am I supposed to condense an entire individual's existence into a single song?
Short answer is I can't so I guess I'll take it by the ages.
When I was a kid the first band I heard was Sum 41 so they get a place. All Killer No Filler was the first CD I ever got.

Dung my teenage years I fell into Weezer big time. I was the poster child for The Blue Album since it pretty much covered every aspect of my existence. Honourable mention goes to Green Day's Dookie.

When my sense of self-awareness developed I started listening to alternative bands and as soon as I saw the name of this song I knew I'd hit paydirt: Bad Religion's 21st Century Digital Boy

And nowadays I'm doing more cultivate my sense of selfishness and individual priority. And nothing conveys that better than Nine Inch Nails' Only.

In addition to that one above, I've got two more.

"Lord, I wanted to be something you could depend (haha) on..."

"I'm A Ramblin' Man"

I've been down to Mississippi
Down through New Orleans
I've played in California
There ain't too much I haven't seen
Lord, I'm a ramblin' man
Don't fool around with a ramblin' man.

Left a girl in West Virginia
Up there where that green grass grows
(Yes, I did)

I played in California
Y'Never know, never know
Lord, I'm a ramblin' man
Don't fool around with a ramblin' man

You better move away
You're standing too close to the flame
Once I mess with the ol' mind
Your little ol' heart won't be the same
'Cause I'm a ramblin' man
Don't fool around with any ol' ramblin' man...

I'm bipolar, and thus post 2 songs.

I am the fallen angel:

Trapped in purgatory, a lifeless object, alive
Awaiting reprisal, death will be their acquisition
The sky is turning red, return to power draws near
Fall into me, the sky's crimson tears abolish the rules made of stone
Pierced from below, souls of my treacherous past
Betrayed by many, now ornaments dripping above
Awaiting the hour of reprisal, your time slips away
Raining blood from a lacerated sky
Bleeding it's horror
Creating my structure, now I shall reign in blood

You don't get there till you get there

The Spanish version is a beautiful piece even if you don't understand the words. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fsw2NQb5xSA

Not all parts, but some of this reminds me of childhood. Powerful scenes for me, nothing like the memory of playing with your boys barefoot in the streets past midnight.

Big time
I'm on my way, I'm making it
Big time big time
I've got to make it show, yeah
Big time big time
So much larger than life
Big time
I'm going to watch it growing
Big time big time
My car is getting bigger
Big time
My house is getting bigger
Big time
My eyes are getting bigger
Big time
And my mouth
Big time
My belly is getting bigger
Big time
And my bank account
Big time
Look at my circumstance
Big time
And the bulge in my big big big big big big big
big big big big big big big

"Christian love bears evil, but it does not tolerate it. It does penance for the sins of others, but it is not broadminded about sin. Real love involves real hatred: whoever has lost the power of moral indignation and the urge to drive the sellers from temples has also lost a living, fervent love of Truth."

- Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

In my younger years I was like a ship at sea without a course, going in whatever direction the prevailing winds blew, but the time comes when you have to take the wheel, rally the crew, set a course. The song is about having a vision and making it a reality. It reminds me of something I read once:

"Whether an individual simply allows their nature to be molded by fate and immediate desires, or whether they take the initiative, and define who they are themselves, according to their own recognition of morality and decency is solely the province of free will."
