OK Gentlemen...I'm turning here looking for some advice.

I'm getting out of the military, with my last paycheck coming in at the first of next month. I've been looking for jobs for the past six months, and I've received the following offers:
  • Part Time, minimum wage clerk at a T-mobile store
  • Part time, minimum wage cashier at a sports store
  • Telephone customer support for 38k/yr, back office for firm that specializes in daytrader platforms.

Needless to say I'm not thrilled at anything. I've had a number of people comment on my resume saying that they're surprised at the results, but without the "5 years of industry experience" that every online job posting wants and no "network" because almost the entirety of my network consists of current and former military.

What do you all suggest? I am posting the text of the resume below with identifying information removed. It's potentially personally identifying but you'd have to already know me to be able to:

Do you have a valid security clearance? Then you should direct your jobs to positions that require a clearance:

JP Morgan also touts its push to hire veterans. And with your finance background, you might be a good fit:

Computer science degree and a clearance should get you a high paying job. Where do you live? Move to a place that has jobs. Read cobras accounting datasheet.

Also, always mention money and numbers as much as possible. I only had 7 months managerial exp but handling 110 employees and dealing with 25 accounts grabbed recruiters attention.

I did 20 years in the Navy and went through the same thing.

The trick is your resume. Its too broad.

Look at it from their point of view. You have zero experience in the job and have a lots of management tyoe stuff in there. Looks great on paper but would you hire a guy like that?

probably not when the next guy in the door meets all the qualifications and wont leave as soon as a better offer comes around.

The trick is find the job posting that interests you. They will tell you right in the posting what it is they are looking for so be sure to put that that is exactly what you do and here are the results of what happened when you did it.

You will be suprised at how many responses you get by tailoring your resume to that specific job with way less information on it then you have now.

Put 2-3 things on it and thats it. Just stuff that is revelant to the job you are seeking and nothing more.

Anymore my entire 20 year military experience is 1 line. U.S. Navy with the start and end date. Thats it.

Thank you for your service. I just want to toss some ideas out there. I don’t know jack about the military but it appears that your experience corresponds to a facilities management job for office buildings or large residential premises. Don’t know where you live, (Denver?) but property management companies in big cities like New York would probably be interested in hiring someone with your background for that type of position. Also a parts/inventory manager for a manufacturer? How about an estimator or project manager for a large construction firm? The back office support position that was offered to you may lead to another opportunity in the finance sector. By the way, you have a typo in “led join[t] missions...”. All the best with the job search.

I'd take the back office finance role JOB for now and keep looking for a CAREER. Other two are wholly irrelevant to a career. Are you mobile or tied down geographically with school, etc?

Also, sent you a pm.

Thank you for your service.

I'd take the back office job, get your series 7 license, and use that as a way to transition to the mid-office or front office as fast as possible. As ex-military with a work ethic it won't be that hard.

If you just need money and that's it be a bartender or a club staff member at a high end venue.

If it isn't a career type job you may even meet more networking connections bartending at a high end anyways rather than some random min. wage or office job.

Any guy waiting for a bigger better job should ALWAYS be a bartender at a high end place in my opinion. There is no better non-career job for a man in the USA from every angle imaginable.
