I've read the Bigger Pockets books and they're great. Rehabbing on my first flip now.

The RE book & podcast industry is full of "get rich quick" types who are really off-putting. Everyone is an RE expert. And then there's the whole aspect of Real Estate agents who are the some of the most fake people ever and sugar coat everything but know very little. In truth only a few people are successful. Even with Bigger Pockets, while the books are great, the forums are only so-so and the podcasts are on the whole downright miserable with overly enthusiastic phonies.

My opinion: Real estate investing is hard work. Anybody who's ever purchased a distressed home knows the uncertainty that goes along with buying real property is scary business. Also, any experienced investor who has went through an awful eviction process knows that for a fact and even better. Pieces of real estate are obviously a big money item and that money attracts tons of maggots and poisonous individuals. Generally the nice business people who have decent ethics are the ones who last the longest and make the most money, but by no means is REI a career path for pussies. This set of books in these links are probably very insiteful material but the real estate investment industry requires non-stop learning in real life. It requires a set of people that you can trust. Verified. Generally I think that if any book sugar coats the world of real estate and how easy it is to cash in, they lie, and they are just selling you a product. They are selling it in a nice comfortable package, but for beginners, the cold hard truth is that dealing in real estate can be a huge risk. The more money that is involved the bigger the risk and the higher the stress. The reality of this business is yes you can make money, but you can also lose a lot of money.
