Happn - the new Tinder beater...?

No matches yet. I have around 20 chicks that i've crossed paths with. Most of them are in their late 20s or early 30s and fairly attractive, maybe age corrected 7s. Lots of travelling and hipster types. I really don't do very well with these types.

I got a charm recently. It just shows up in your notifications. The grid of women is still organized by time you crossed paths.

Overall I like that the quality of women is high, and that if you're in a high traffic area you don't even have to move to match people (cross paths), but dislike alot of things about happn.

-horrible interface. No way to sort through or organize your crossed paths
-I can't tell what my profile looks like to women, since the editing page shows a square photo while in the grid everyone is shown as a rectangle. I haven't met any matches in person and will try to check out what my profile looks like in the grid when I do. Unfortunately she'd have to scroll through all her matches and search for me manually which is a pain
-In the same vein, the photos are too small. With tinder or bumble etc you get your whole screen to one person. Here it's four to a screen which complicates things a bit.
-Many women have gone days or weeks without checking the app. Once they sign back in they're going to be overloaded with matches and charms and you're going to be totally lost in the shuffle since the app follows you even when you aren't signed in. I don't know if the app puts guys who hearted to the top of the list, a la tinder, but it doesn't seem like it as my matches stay sorted chronologically wherever I first or last crossed paths with them
-This goes both ways. What if a hot woman hearted me and I missed her since we crossed paths a while ago and I'm not about to spend my day scrolling through the entire list.

If it weren't for the quality, I'd give this app a 2/10 would not download.

Some or all of this has probably been stated. I just downloaded and will try this out. Some thoughts beforehand:

- Kills battery life. Tinder keeps my gps on, but I close it to save battery. This app, in order to work, will keep gps on and active.
Takeaway: I already have an extra battery from a broken same model phone. Will take out when socializing.

- Another step for naturals, specifically, better looking, more money, more well traveled guys...guys who don't have to face the fear of cold approach. Women (society) are always looking for ways to weed out the real men from the fakers. Don't get caught being fake.
Takeaway: Get to the gym so you can post a pic of your six pack, go on a trip so you can show your well traveled, be social and forceful with some hotties and get a picture with them. As we all know here, even "looks" for a man can be greatly improved.

- Don't deny these apps. I'm tired of guys looking down the nose at "online dating". Tinder was the first to really start breaking the stigma of online dating with the advent of "no-investment" dating apps. Hey anti-online dating guys, this aint eHarmony...every single chic has a dating app on her phone that *she is using*.
Takeaway: Even if you're Mr Approach and get all your chicas the old-fashioned way, you can bet she's using these apps. Don't get caught with your pants down as she walks outta the room for a meetup.

None of my charms went anywhere either.

Short update: I took the time to go through the last week on happn and got 2 new matches. I try to check the app fairly often but women still slip through. Lots of users in NYC it seems. The app takes forever to load so it took a while, but it's worth it for the quality. Very few fatties on Happn.

If this app gets more popular it's going to be impossible to match people since the ones who liked you are just randomly dispersed among all your other crossed paths. Quality can only go down from here, so at that point the app will be worthless unless they change the algorithm to show matches higher up.

I suppose it's a good thing that men's charms are limited, otherwise they'd be worthless and wouldn't get you noticed at all. Got to be selective with them unless you're willing to pay real cash for them though.

This app doesn't seem too be too popular in my city(which is right outside of miami), I've only gotten two chicks to show up on it and one was from outside of it. I didn't get anything even when i was in the mall the other day during a busy hour.

That might be because it has not launched there yet.

Quote from that article "Happn is now available in Paris, London, Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid and New York. The team of 25 is now working on more city launches – Chicago, Los Angeles and Sydney are next on the list. Every month, Happn will become available in three new cities."

Article is dated Dec 2014.

Just downloaded this. Quality is very high in my area. It got my age wrong even though it's correct on FB. Anyone know how to correct?

Location needs to stay on throughout for the app to work properly. Good idea but I keep mine off unless using Tinder or GPS.

ROFL. Just got unmatched by my first match. Haven't left apartment, so I picked up a dozen or so I've crossed paths with. Most are attractive and this is in DC. I will take one for the team, so don't ask if m means mi since this is a European app. I asked if m meant meters and got told I was super creepy. Whoops.

So far this app sucks. Too many bugs and i am not sure how real the profiles are. Have matched with 2 below avg girls which is crazy low compared with my success rate with tinder.

I am in LA and the past couple of weeks have been in very populated areas(UCLA, Weho/Hollywood etc), still shit.

The charm thing is so gimmicky. Is this a dating app or a Facebook game? You have the option to "purchase charms" or gain charms by sending invites to your Facebook friends. It's Tinder meets Farmville.

Oh boy. When will a dating app get it right? It doesn't seem like it's all that hard to do so.

Quick, any devs on this site? Let's work on a quality dating app.

This isn't a good App for guys because the interface doesn't make the girl "decide" upon a match in front of them like Tinder/Hinge. It's just a scrolling list of dudes/girls and nobody has time to click and view them all so nobody gets matched. Bad execution.

Couldn't agree more with user decision feature, I have much more luck on Hinge. Also think the user chat window interface sucks. Really hope they can improve this on their next iteration.

I used this app during my recent trip to Chicago (lotsa chicas), and I use it in my city (not many chicas). Not getting any matches and not sure why.

Unlike Tinder where I match a lot. I think this ---vvvv--- is why.

You cant deny though that at least half of the meet ups from online are a disappointment and waste of time. At least half or more of my matches from any dating app, are much lower in attractiveness than their profile appears to be. And its not always a concerted effort by ugly girls to look more attractive, it could be small things that completely turn you off like a big head, a single crooked brown front tooth, or thick calves. All things you cant discern from a profile.

Last night I had one of these, and ended up drinking a decent cup of whisky to plow through. Nice girl, good conversation, but no way would I pursue or want to be seen with her. Over half, probably 75%+ of my matches turn out like this. And going in I am certain she's hot, mid 20's, latin, very nice pictures. But this is online dating for me, and I would easily assume for most if you are doing it with any quantity.

Approaching in real life, as a confident man, never will waste your time because you know from the first second whether to pursue.

And oh yeah, I get a lot of matches from this app, but barely any of the girls are really active. And yes, the interface sucks; bad design, good concept.

This app has been useless for me. I must have liked hundreds of girls and only matched up with one. I deleted the app.
