Where do I start?

This article helped me a lot.

Otherwise, the newbie forum and search, Return of Kings, Danger & Play and his podcasts, and Christian McQueen's blog and podcasts.

Where do I start?

1) get your body fat down under 15% or so, then bulk. Exercise 3x / week. If you're way out of shape, walk for an hour at a pace that is a challenge. Else - High intensity interval training. Find a newbie body weight or weightlifting program.

2) make small talk everywhere. Ask people for the time, directions, where the nearest pet shop coffee shop is, what time is the next bus coming, what would the waiter recommend to order and why, how is business / is it busy today with anyone in the service professions, which shirt would the salesperson recommend and why, etc. Do this regularly, 3-5 times a week. You'll need at least 2x week to maintain progress.

I personally would do this regularly, constantly until you can hold conversations and push them forward BEFORE you start hitting on girls. If you feel in your head in these casual conversations with hired guns, etc, approaching girls to hit on them will be a very low ROI, not to mention overly painful.

3) improve yourself in other areas. Read stuff unrelated to pick up. Apply for better jobs. Go to museums. Learn to cook healthier food. Bike around your town to find cool places to go. Work on yourself more than you work on pick up.

4) update us on progress. I'd recommend finding a guy who's willing to give you advice. Update him on your goals (under-promise), then over-deliver. This is how you build your reputation as a man - if someone suggests you read a book, read it AND a second one that it made you think of and report back to that person..they'll be much more likely to help you again.

All of us here have different backgrounds and developed differently. Look for common themes. The most important thing is DO SOMETHING rather than read up on the optimal course of action until you're blue in the face. You need to head north, it's better to head northeast or northwest than standing still.

One last thing - it's a marathon, not a sprint. Improve consistently, don't try to do everything at once. There is no magic bullet or a way to start fucking models by tomorrow, anyone who says otherwise has something to sell you.

I worked out for a total of 6 months and stopped a month ago. I made no gains despite regular attendance and bulking.

What was your routine like? I'd really recommend something like Starting Strength or Stronglifts.

My only difference with polar's reply is I'd do it like this
1) Get out and talk to people
2) Work on your body
3) Improve in other areas
4) stay in touch

#1 is the one thing you can do right now and see immediate results.

Since you're probably self conscious about your mouth/teeth at this point, that may carry over even after your surgery. You have to do whatever it takes to break that mentality.

You have 100% of what you need to succeed right now. There is no "wait until X happens", because that's going to happen and you'll find some other excuse. I used to have bad acne and it took years to lose the mindset that I was the teenager with bad acne. I have allergies that can act up and that was an excuse. The beauty of interacting with people is that all it takes is for you to start talking. If you open your mind to the possibility that you already have what you need, you will probably surprise yourself with what you can do.

JamesW95,

Lots of good suggestions regarding the other things, so I'll just chime in a bit regarding the allergies.

I wouldn't keep using anti-histamines, that's not a long term solution, only a short term bandage. Plus, depending on which anti-histamines you are using, it can make you drowsy and affect your energy level. Schedule a doctor's appointment and see if they can fix the root cause of your allergy issues.

With allergies, especially involving chronic sinus problems, they may or may not be able to fix it. But you still should go see a doctor.

You need to start by working on your inner game dude, if you don't think you're dateable no girl is going to think you are.

I agree with this order of the steps, and talking to everyone you can will be most important and will give the fastest results, first from short-term momentum, then from internalizing lessons.

Bottom line is - get to the point where you're pumping on all cylinders.

Yeah man, but you're only 19 so that's perfectly normal.

Go and do something interesting, travel somewhere new if you can.

If you can't, then go explore some place new where you live.

Climb a mountain, swim in a river, get out in nature alone, and figure out who the fuck you are.

And read, read the classics, read the game lit, read my shit, and start internalizing things. It'll come if you don't give up.
