European universities are very different from American colleges, because in Europe students usually don't live on campus but they rent apartments or live in dormitories that do not belong to the universities. That's why you mostly don't have the type of fret parties you find across America or equivalents to Arizona State, etc. Since the legal drinking age is as low as 14 or 16 in many countries, people already have had alcohol experiences before they enroll at a university and do not engage in the binge-drinking you see on US campuses.

That said, I'd say university towns in the UK are a different animal. The amount of people getting totally shitfaced is insane. I guess nothing is easier to get laid there.

Apart from that all the major European university towns have good party scene (Berlin, Budapest, Krakow, Barcelona, Athens, Prague, ...). You just can't compare them to what you have in the US.

Grenoble France is a huge party town ( 60,000 students for 250,000 residents). About 10,000 are international students. The Erasmus parties were huge there as well as medicine and engineering parties ( and yes, they get SHITFACED in those medicine parties, way crazier than what i've seen in Canada ( porn movies presented, people doing their own porn movie in dark corners of the dance floor).

The guys wearing the berets are called faluchards, I think they are somewhat what in France would be called a fraternity although their history is older...

It's really the dirtiest parties I've ever seen, there were two of those when I was in Grenoble. It's super easy to get laid and makout even if everyone gets super disgusting. I was making out with a girl, her boyfriend (a faluchard) was next to me and couldn't care less cause I was Quebecer and he was fucking drunk.

It's open bar so you need to wear your ugliest shoes and clothes because they will smell like shit (i've seen people throw up and pee on the dancefloor)

I have visited a few campuses in the UK, Hungary, Netherlands and South Africa.

Stellenbosch in South Africa: Full of hot white girls, cheap drinks and rugby jocks every where. Pretty wild but nothing out of the ordinary

Oxford, UK: Essentially a university town with 3 universities: Shit gets heavy.

UK has a decent student life, if you are immune to dick-heads. We used to throw parties in a 5 bedroom house with up to 150 people in at once, simultaneously with a room for every sort of purpose you can imagine. It was so packed, people were jumping out of the bedroom windows upstairs and would re-enter as everyone was hooking up on the staircases, passages etc. This escalated into invite only with a few perks..
I can throw up a datasheet on how to throw university parties sometime. For the record, I will not be naming my university.

Was in Amsterdam last year and walking down one of the main streets (Nieuwendijk perhaps, don't remember) and I notice a wall on the ground floor of a building open. Out come 4 hotties. I stop my friend and have a cigarette as we watch this illuminati-esque building's stone wall open and a few more hotties pour out.

This is insane, what the fuck is going on. We decide to check it out and walk inside, as if normal. We get past the entrance and there are two girls there who stop us and start questioning us in Dutch.

- Sorry, I was looking for a bathroom
- You won't find it here
- What is this place then?
- We can't tell you
- Oh, like a secret swingers club?
- hehe something like that but it is members only.

We re-grouped at night with our sole mission being breaking into the illuminati's fraternity/sorority.

Come nightfall, we split up in to 2 groups of two. Non-chalantly walk inside and enter this hedonistic mix of young blonde dutch people partying and signing. This motherfucking hall looks like the banquet hall from Harry Potter full of drunk, horny people wearing hats and free drinks. Shiet.

Eventually this guy (Jeroen, we started calling him Jerome) spots us and says we aren't allowed to be there but we said we are the ambassadors of the UK universities. He laughs and says he's got our back.

Proceed to get smashed and mingle with hot Dutch girls. Turns out these guys pay 150eur a month and can drink as much as they want, visit the place whenever they want and it is essentially a massive co-ed clubhouse, in the centre of Amsterdam next to the red light district, glorious coffeeshops and the almighty Febo machines.

Sweet! A few drinks later and he has warmed up to us, he carries one of us on his bicycle and the rest of us get on a tuk-tuk onto the local watering holes.

You can put the rest together and Dutch girls are pretty chilled, especially when vouched for.

One of the more unique university parties I have been to.

I have this couple of times a month! I pay around 80/90 a month and drink as much I want. What you have seen is the best of the best in the Dutch frat/sorority world. You also find this in Utrecht, Leiden, Groningen and some more places if you know where to look.

Agreed with another comment... wouldn't try to compare U.S. college towns with European.

However, if you're looking for "wild women, ripping and tearing" check out Eindhoven, Netherlands and especially Reykjavik, Iceland.

Other heavy drinking/partying places to note would be Dublin, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and probably many other places across the U.K. and Southern Ireland.

I omitted a few unis in the UK on purpose. That being said there is a lot of choice and lots of student girls to choose from with a few unis there (not even on a carnage night) but that place has zero charm whatsoever.

Cyr, having studied in the UK I think it is overrated, what do you think? Perhaps its the Erasmus placebo? A lot of US students live in my building (not in the UK) and its one big circle jerk and it takes me back to uni .

As a Spaniard studying in a UK student city, I can say it's totally overrated. Relatively high priced nightlife, massive cockfests and mostly unapproachable girls. I studied in Poland for 8 months and it was so much better.

What city in Spain are you going to? The Erasmus scene in my home city, Valencia is great, much better than the regular snobby nights out that many locals prefer.

Luisaceo nailed it.

UK student life overrated because:

- Overpriced drinks and entry
- What is not overpriced lacks class and is polluted with drunk, puking, silly people -> Carnage/student nights/Malaga-Zante people in one
- The hottest girls are the overseas ones
- Local girls (average) automatically prefer English guys, especially the jocks or hipsters
- The weather is shit and this limits you to clubbing. This also means everybody stays in and smokes weed and is subject to shitty moods. The people who go out will constantly be the same ones.
- Police are strict on house parties. Every single one (albeit they were major ones) got busted by the cops. One got a bit out of hand and evictions were handed out and the university and dean got involved. Blacklisting and added to watchlists not ideal. (find someone who owns a house and avoid this, this worked in our final year)
- Cockfests everywhere. Approaching on campus is your viable solution but shitty weather means people will not really hang out there.
- Travelling is expensive. Buses/taxis/etc.
- A lot and I mean a lot of drug usage.

On the flipside,
+ if you are jacked, you will get laid a lot, just put yourself out there
+ freshers week is usually a lot of fun, pace yourself
+ London has caters to all tastes, just prepare to pay a lot
+ it has good universities for your future CVs

True. This was somehow surprising as I've met friends as young as 19 who have tried coke, MDMA... you name it. Some of them even take them more or less regularly. If you're coming to the UK as a foreigner, you'll have to accept that in most girl's minds there are 2-3 'types' of foreigners.

1. White or Hispanic guys who speak English. You will be able to pull at any type of university (more on that in a minute). If you're a good looking, muscly hispanic guy who speaks very good english AND Spanish you will go far.

2. White guys who don't speak good English, black dudes and Asians. You will have your best chances in places such as London, Oxford and Manchester where the students are more open-minded. In these cities there are also more than 1 universities, so the party scene is more mixed.

3. Foreigners from perceived 'bad' countries. India, Pakistan, Somalia, poor Caribbean countries. They don't really speak English and often have no good attributes e.g. no muscle, not very polite, etc..

Yeah, I would also advice Dutch university cities as well.
Groningen tops all other Dutch cities in student life I'd say, followed by Leiden and Maastricht.
Girls are cool and stylish, just check out the main internet sites of the Unis, positive environment indeed.
And you can easily cross over to Belgium, to Brussels Uni which has a Flemish campus as well as a French campus, to Flemish cities like Antwerpen,Gent or Hasselt, or to Wallonian ones like Louvain, Mons or Liége.
In both Dutch and Belgian university cities you could find many 6s as well as a few 8s but day game wouldn't work here I think.

I never studied at Erasmus Uni but I spent a few months there off campus with an ex girlfriend that was settling in. The party scene is pretty wild. I can't really attest to the quality of the dutch women though. There were so many foreign students it was really difficult to get a good sample size.

Personally, the largest population of attractive women that I have ever seen are in Copenhagen [And I've been to a significant portion of Europe]. It's got a pretty bad wrap on here, but I saw 8's and 9's everywhere. I could never live there though. The majority of people seemed to be left wing greens with next to no personality.

Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam could be cool for meeting chicks too.
But man, they are difficult, once I tried to get info on studying medicine at Erasmus and they replid how rigid and tough studying in their college was, I felt like talking to Harvard or Oxford.
It's maybe the first or second uni in research in all of Europe, getting in as a student there would be almost impossible I'd think.

No, Dutch women have had a lot of love around here. Its just that, like much of Holland, its easy to forget.
