You're right, tons of comments talking about how he's not attractive, he looks like a bad person, mug shots aren't cool, etc.
I know in Japan tattoos are not cool. (Unless you're yakuza). Being a criminal is also a much bigger black mark; felons are despised and don't integrate back into Japanese society, not in any kind of notable way. (They'll never become salarymen or take any "respectable" position).

What we're witnessing now is a declining society that's literally backwards. immorality = good, deviancy = normal, feminine men, masculine women, it goes on and on.
A society simply can not function like this long term and one way or another there will be some sort of cleansing.
