The playboy founder of Manhattan’s Dream hotels, who once dated Gisele Bundchen and Kate Moss, is nursing yet another broken heart — from his supermodel ex-fiancée who absconded to Mexico with her $300,000 engagement ring.
Sad-sack eccentric hotelier Vikram Chatwal is now suing his famous DKNY-model ex, Esther Cañadas, in Manhattan Supreme Court to try to get back the 8-carat emerald and diamond token of his affection.
“The plaintiff, Vikram Chatwal, believed his dream had come true when defendant, Esther Cañadas, accepted his marriage proposal, but his dream morphed into a nightmare when upon the termination of the engagement, the defendant left the United States with the engagement ring as the spoils of the romance,’’ the suit says.
“The relief sought is the return of the engagement ring from the Defendant or a money judgment of $313,560, plus interest, costs, disbursements and reasonable legal fees, along with such other and further relief as this court may deem just and proper,’’ according to the papers.
The tumultuous pair were engaged in September, after the high-flying, hard-partying multimillionaire, 42, proposed to the pouty-lipped Cañadas, 37, during a visit to St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Midtown.
But Cañadas and Chatwal — who has also been linked to Lindsay Lohan — appeared troubled from the start. Just a few weeks later, the on-again, off-again couple said they were kaput for good.
Cañadas, who was born in Spain, now lives in the tony resort of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. She could not reached for comment.
Chatwal’s celebrity lawyer, Mark Heller, declined comment.
The privileged son of Hampshire Hotels & Resorts founder Sant Singh Chatwal, Chatwal helps oversee his family’s empire.
On his Vikram Chatwal Hotels Web site, he calls himself “an international tastemaker and man-about-town,’’ adding, “in 2005 he was named as one of the world’s most eligible bachelors by Radar Magazine.
“He is also well-known for his career as a Bollywood actor and friendships with some of Hollywood’s most influential stars,’’ says the site.
Chatwal still has a “G’’ tattoo on his left shoulder from his brief affair with Bundchen and parties on his 150-foot yacht “Fathom.’’
In 2011, he entered rehab for booze addiction.
He was then arrested at a Florida airport in April for drugs after he tried to board a plane with a stash of cocaine, pot and prescription pills — as well as heroin hidden in the crotch of his pants.
He has since completed another stint in rehab.

The problem is that models and ex-models are so incredibly overvalued by men of means. They're considered some kind of ultimate trophy. From the time they become recognized as top models, they get passed around by actors/athletes/musicians/businessmen/European playboys. If they can't parlay modeling into some other career, they've got to find a chump to latch onto so they can keep living the lifestyle they did at the height of their careers. And guys like this still place value on them, even at 37. And to drop over $300,000 on a ring? FUCK. This broad best return the rock. If she fails to respond to the summons, a judgment will be entered against her. The problem is...does this bitch have any assets? She made decent coin when she was working, but she probably blew through it already. The ring WOULD have been her only asset, except it isn't hers until you actually get legally married. That's more common than we think and not only among the rich and the famous. Think about how many guys have ended up marrying old high school / university princesses well behind the wall just because of their memories of their former luxurian beauty. Or think about gogo dancers, waitresses, etc. No matter how near their 40ies they are, how bad they've ridden the cock carrousel, their record of previous relationship or how desperate they are in the pursuit of a safe harbour to spend their very own winter.
