Vincent Price - saw him up close during taping of a Hollywood Square episode.
mikado - was on the same Rooshv thread with him.

In no particular order: Robin Williams (very nice guy), Christiano Ronaldo (saw him a few years back at Newark Airport, had a little chat with him for a few moments, he was headed to New York), Paul Walker (I actually ran into him by accident many years ago back in Newark, he was signing autographs in the parking lot at some church), as well as some WWE Divas.

-Eric Roberts (fashion show)
- Jordan Farmar and other minor laker players
- Zoey Deschanel ( Roosevelt)
- couple famous K-pop girls (K-town LA/ J-town SF)
- Shaq (grocery store)
- Ice cube's son
- Wayans bro (fashion show)
- Sons of Anarchy Diosa bottom bitch (mexican lady)- fashion show
- Couple porn stars
- Mystery and his squeeze. (smoked a J with her and stole Mystery's drink)
I barely watch pop culture, so I am sure I have met tons more.
The sad part is most of these people are super-f-boring. Funny part is that half the time, famous people think I am famous too- always a good chuckle there.
WIA- For most of men, our time being masters of our own fate, kings in our own castles is short. Even those of us in the game will eventually succumb to ease of servitude rather than deal with the malaise of solitude

Derailing a bit here, but I think we should settle on an absolute definition of beauty. If you say "dime", even though a ten isn't worth that much money, it makes it sounds like you are talking about a ten. I don't believe tens exist in nature- they are the ultimate ideal woman. Definitely worth more than 10 cents.
"Dime" sounds beta to me- it's a way of trying to sound cool without acknowledging what you actually mean.
It's like being politically corect. If you said she's a ten, you'd probably get more guys responding in disagreement. And that makes perfect sense if you define a ten as a the perfect female.
Don't say "dime" anymore. Take a risk and call her a ten

If your girl is fine, she's a dime.
A suit is a vine, jewelry is shine.
If you in love, that mean you blind.
But you're right. Can't remember the last time I used the phrase 'dime' in real life. Ha. But she was a dime though.

I met Gillian Anderson and Dan Ackroyd when I was 12. They were filming House of Mirth in the park next to my house. I asked Ackroyd if when the new Ghostbusters movie was going to be released.
I have met various footballers living in Glasgow.
I also went to school with two minor soap actresses.
And I have met Sonny, Traa and Wuv from POD. That was after a concert where the band stopped the show halfway through because some wee fat lass had lost her glasses. The lights were switched on and everyone was asked to search for them.
Obviously, not a stellar list as some on here but I wanted to add my dimes worth.
I was there the day feminism fell...

Bill Clinton - but only a simple book signing event at the Prudential Tower in 2011. It doesn't really count, barely had 20 seconds with him and I don't even agree with his book anymore, which was a dumbed-down explanation of Keynesian economics I'm sure was ghostwritten.
I guess none of these other guys have major celebrity status, but meeting them has been meaningful to me nonetheless.
Saw the great pianist Van Cliburn perform in 2007, in Portland. My piano teacher got me to meet him after a social function later that week, and I played the Scriabin Sonata No. 5 for him. I think I plain fucked up a chemistry exam the day before, I was so nervous and wanted to practice every possible minute.
It ended up going amazing, he was very encouraging and warm and to this day I think he was impressed/genuinely enjoyed it. I was joking around that I didn't know who he was while growing up in Texas, missed all those opportunities to see him play there, but finally my dream was fulfilled.
I've met a few great authors:
Chuck Palahniuck: My favorite author of all time. I was so awkward around him, but he was so wise and perceptive in his explanations of how to structure my stories, how to get that extra bit of authenticity from the characters. I didn't even know bigtime writers did something like this, giving a good amount of time to sit down with an aspiring writer.
He was also someone I felt close enough to confide in very fast. Before we were done, I told him how I'm studying to be an engineer, my parents expect that of me, yet I'm plagued by the idea that maybe writing is my true calling. (I think I may have used a 'biological clock' analogy lol, that I was running out of time.) He told me 'well, you have talent for sure. Do what you have to do, but don't forget.' He said that the beauty of writing is that great writers have come from all backgrounds, arriving at the path at different points in their lives.
.
Tad Williams: He saw that I had a certain resemblance and flair in my language and writing that recalled his own and I told him I basically modeled mine after his. His Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn and Otherland books are my favorite fantasy and cyberpunk novels. I showed him what I had of the same story I showed Chuck, he also liked it and was more reserved, asked me what I wanted to ask him, I did, and he helped me with my weaknesses.
Guy Gavriel Kay: He's the modern J. R. R. Tolkien in my book. Gave me his perspective on my plot, characters, writing. I told him that I drew a lot of inspiration from his Fionavar Tapestry series and I had tried to learn from his graceful and beautiful style. We talked about how to develop your writing style in the long term and keep yourself on the track of improvement.
And lastly - before all of them - I met John Steakley quite a while before he died in 2010. He was a sci-fi writer who authored Armor, one of the most emotionally intense books I've read in my life and has a dedicated cult following. I picked up another copy of it, and now it still floors me with its raw intensity. I've been on a few sports and gaming forums, and invariably I'll run into a fellow fan.
He and my dad were family friends while we lived in Texas and I saw him a few times growing up. When I was much younger, I was a really cute kid, he'd ruffle my hair, and he once personally promised me that the sequel to Armor was going to be as amazing as the first. I went to the unofficial site and it disturbs me to see the excerpt of what he posted there. Sometimes I think I want to write my own version of Armor 2 as tribute, just post it anonymously on the Internet. When I learned that he had died while grinding through the college applications in high school, I cried, tears and all. Damn.
Been thinking about him a lot lately. For this spring break, I went on in a road trip to Miami with two guys from Boston in a beat up Ford. My friends always ask me for literary recommendations; I was surprised that they asked me for an audiobook recommendation this time. I found an audiobook of Armor by Blackstone, and we listened to that. Memorable.

Just of curiousity. Has anybody hanged out with Josh Homme?
