African American DNA can lead to that too. He probably looked like that before he ever even lifted.

Starting To Lift In Your 40s

" I see a lot of younger guys who are older than me..."

No kidding. Probably 95+% of people on their 20's are "older" than this guy.

He is definitely an inspiration. People saying he has some sort of special genetic advantage are missing the point. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. Doesn't mean that if he sat on the couch, and the average person worked out hard he'd still look and feel great and the average person would look/feel like crap.

I agree with his general point that people are too ready to accept certain things about age. It's mostly a cop out for people who don't want to put in the work. That's fine, but don't say you have X or Y malady because of your age when it is probably avoidable, or at least can be substantially delayed, through personal effort.

The other day I saw this guy at the gym who must have been somewhere around 60, though it was hard to tell his age. I was impressed when I saw him putting up 225 on the bench press and then I realized that he was still warming up. This man maxed out at 365. He looked like Jim Brown in his heyday.

I imagine that good gear helps, but the level of commitment and perseverance that it takes to keep going in your 40s and 50s is remarkable. I'm a couple of years shy of 40 and I can feel it already. Five years ago, I could hit the gym 5 or 6 times a week and have very few problems. Recovery time is definitely the one thing that you take for granted when you're young.

Jim Morris is pretty inspirational, he is 78yo or so, and looks awesome. But he's been training and competing for decades.

Impressive, thanks for the share!

At the 45 second mark he is sitting and working with barbells. What exercise is that? Seems to work a bunch of muscles, since the guy is so fucking ripped you see all the muscles at work - holy fuck.

Wow. He could pass for 20 years younger.

But genetics definitely plays a factor here - he was approached about entering a bodybuilding competition 11 months after he first started lifting.

That said, the general principle of "use it or lose it" applies to the human body.

Agree with Midnite. You have to be lazy as fuck if youre black with not even a decent body. I knew guys who maybe worked out once a week, ate like shit and looked good.

Takes the definition of old man strength to a whole new level.

Inspiring to see this man still going at it strong, day after day.
