Must Have Experiences, Must See Places, Around the World

Places that have brought me to (near) tears because of their beauty/experience:

Hiking the sun gate leading to Machu Picchu.

Sunset on Ipanema Beach.

The Western Wall on Shabbos.

Sunrise caked in Dead Sea mud.

Stuck in an Amazonian monsoon.

Mushrooms in Vondelpark.

Sleeping on Ko Phi Phi Lei('The Beach').

SCUBA diving with Hammerheads off Grand Cayman.

Kayaking in the Yangshuo/Guilin area of China. That's the most beautiful shit I've seen so far in my life. The attached picture is what you'll see when you're doing it.

I thought of a few more things from around China and SEA.

China--Chinese New Year in one of the big cities. I did it in Shanghai. Try to get high up in one of the skyscapers and be out on a balcony at midnight. The fireworks are absolutely insane. Literally fireworks everywhere you can see.

Hiking/Camping the Great Wall- Do this you won't regret it. Read up on some history of the Great Wall and China first, brings it to life. Totally awe-inspiring.

Harbin Cat Zoo--Take the Jeep out into the sanctuary and fork over ten bucks for the guides to throw a live chicken up on top of the Jeep. A full sized Bengal Tiger--or a Liger if you're lucky(yes, a motherfucking LIGER)--will literally hop on top of the car you're in and tear the chicken to bits. Make sure you get video. You can also pay about 400 bucks for them to do the same thing with a cow, but obviously they don't throw it on top of the car.

SEA- Angkor Wat-Spend two days AT LEAST here. Try to go when the temperature is sub 90 degrees fahrenheit. The humidity is insane. Bring tons of water--you'll tire quickly.

Riding an Elephant in Thailand--Cool stuff but make sure you ask to "drive" the elephant and take the reigns. People's faces always light up when you tell them you drove an elephant. Plus controlling one of the largest land animals with your own two hands is pretty cool.

There are also a few things from Utah area--mostly hiking and rock climbing that are really fucking cool. Probably not must see, but still totally worth it. Make sure to get sunrise at Bryce Canyon. If you're lucky you'll have fog and only the tallest rock formations stick out.

My future plan is to drive around whole Africa.
This is the ultimate roadtrip that would be longer than 30000km. If this is not the ultimate adventure then I don't know what is..

I've already started planning but I need to save up some cash first.
I only need a partner in crime who would be interesting of doing the same thing. This journey would probably take 1-2 years.

Why would it take so long, Chaos? Are you planning to stay weeks at a time in certains spots? Seems dangerous, but I thrive on danger.

Time and money willing I'd be down...that trip would be the adventure of a lifetime.

Yes I'm planning to stay and check out some stuff here and there. I think this kind of trip is more rewarding if you're not on a hurry.

I have both time and money to do this trip.

Edit - I would like to keep it under 2 years if possible I think.

This trip would go through 20-25 countries depending on how you choose your route.
18 months could be enough of time if you not get gangbanged by some tribalmen in West Africa.

That's a very odd thing to cite as a time constraint.....

-Hiking up to an erupting volcano where you spend the night with a private militia in a war zone in Congo
-Great white shark cage diving in South Africa, Gansbaai
-Paragliding
-Taking strange drugs all over the world, fi getting high on Khat in Ethiopia with the locals
-Extreme wild water rafting on the nile in Uganda
-Walking around in ghettos all around, preferably at night; Bucharest, Addis Abeba, Bujumbura

Ah and great plan Chaos, I met some people who have done similar things like that! The craziest was a guy who went through Central Congo for 2 years, the stories this guy had were just insane...

+ Burning Man. Will change your life.

+ The mountains of Leshan, Sichuan, China. Spectacular, moving scenery. Really out of a dream. (then have the righteously famous grilled fish in Leshan, stupendous)

+ Cascadas aguazul in Chiapas, Mexico. Natural swimming pools in gorgeous cristal clear blue color.

+ Tacos in Mexico City

+ A sunrise / sunset in any jungle, preferably from the canopy

+ Learning to shoot a gun, AK47 and M16 are a whole lot of fun

+ Aurora Borealis in Canada

+ Food and wine in Georgia (ex USSR)

+ A great bottle of wine, drank at its peak. Dont be a cheapo.

+ Barebacking a gorgeous 9 Japanese schoolgirl (18+) in schoolgirl uniform while she calls you 'daddy'. Hell, Barebacking any 9.

+ A bout of poverty, that you overcome with nothing but your testicular fortitude and your will to live

+ The loss of a close to your heart person. Sad, but life will be all the sweeter after. Or should be.

+ Get laid without speaking the local language. Feel like Marco Fucking Polo.

I have no desire to go into the Africa interior. Its so bad in some places companies were actually paying MORE to go there than Baghdad in its prime. That's hard to comprehend. One of the baddest dudes I ever met was from N. Ireland and had spent his entire adult life fighting terrorist. His crew took a job some where on the dark continent, and left after 30 days due to the brutality. Absolute zero fucks given for human life. If a group of hardened merc's with dozens of kills under their belt can't handle it, fuck all if I'd go there unarmed on a fun run.

Yes, planning phase still but looks like a full blown tour of Central and South America. Starting in Belize.

Something I think that tends to happen with these types of things, is that because they become common knowledge, people put less value on them. Which is stupid.

That doesn't mean these adventures aren't special.

Perfect example IMO; Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, I have always wanted to do that.

Great thread. Truly inspiring.

My contributions:

Cabo Polonio, Uruguay. I'm tentatively headed here next (souther hemisphere) summer.

Road trip in the NE / Interior of Brasil. No as exotic, or dangerous, as the African roadtrip but sure do be an adventure nonetheless. I need to block out 2-3 months to make this happen but a definite stop is Lençóis Maranhenses:

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone here that contributed to this thread.

I wanted to include all of these but it was too much for the scope of the post I was working on.

I was able to link a couple things that I had been working on separately.

Great article Fisto.

At it's core, exploring the world is about the most manly thing you can do. Call it 'alpha', call it 'red pill', call it whatever you want.

It's funny, as I've grown and evolved as a man I've begun to take great pleasure in working hard. That is both career wise and travel wise. I genuinely enjoy waking up early and working hard towards a better day. I equally enjoy surviving in difficult environments.

Of late, subconsciously I've found that I've been judging other men based on how hard they work.

I'm excited to see the direction in which the travel portion of the forum is going. I'm liking that other men are traveling with the mentality of 'I can go anywhere and do anything' AND 'I can walk into a club and bang hotter pussy than you'.

Reading about that 'Swing at the end of the world' made my balls feel weird

That was a good read

We have a group of guys here who are very well-traveled, and it's refreshing to see a community that's always finding ways to make life EVEN better.

It's a massive contrast to my Facebook wall, which consists of guys content with sitting in a grey office, shagging the same average bird all year and going to a resort in Spain for two weeks.

I agree with MaleDefined's sentiments. My respect for a man is based on the risks he takes to have the best life.

Whilst one caste complains about broken washing machines, gas bills and the latest episode of mind-numbing television, we're all debating whether we should stay in the tropics for another month or experience the Mongolian winter. Good stuff team!

This is definitely one of the top 5 threads I have read on this forum. I can only relay my experience exploring Pripyat in the Summer. It was surprisingly beautiful, one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever been. Seeing the Chernobyl power plant just felt super cool in itself. Maybe go in the Winter on a private tour if you are looking for a creepier experience. The public group tours recently stopped people from exploring the buildings, as more are collapsing, so eventually there won't be any buildings to explore.

Ali, there are almost zero people/tourists in your photos. Is that usually the case?

Can't agree more with what is said here. Proud to be part of a community that goes strong in life, that doesnt shy risk and keeps an open mind at all times!

A lot of the joy of traveling is finding out places and things that nobody has found or not many people know about, even things that are unknown wonders of the world.

For me it is always the least beaten path that yields the most rewards.
