Actually, those stampedes look like they could be fun.

I'm thinking of throwing on a pair of knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, and then cover myself in black sweatpants and a sweatshirt, some gloves, put in a pair of earbuds rocking Slayer, and just jump in there and start throwing elbows, knees, and charging people.

I love hearing about the "decline of western culture", it makes me giggle. To me, BF and CM are great days. I sit at home, eat some food, go meet a girl......and while I'm doing that I get great deals.

The Rustler needs:
a printer $150 (the current one sucks ink) - now $68
a laptop (7 year old PC at the moment) $700 - now $480
clothes (last time I went shopping was last year) - express is doing 50% off
a TV (to replace the 10-year old CRT I got) $350 - now $220.

wants:
GTA V to kill time $66 - now $38

Savings as of today: $450 without the clothes at 50% off.

What can YOU do with $450.

I'll probably put the $450 in my "trip to X" jar

Try Amazon Prime, I got a month 2-day shipping trial for free. It comes in handy with holiday season. Last year it was better because we didn't had to pay taxes but $68 for a printer is better than $100 at a retail store.

"I argue it's the opposite. Since Americans have less cash they look more for deals which is why Black Friday has taken off. It's a complete joke and it's even creeping up here in Canada which has zero ability to do anything original. We have Boxing Day, the day after Xmas where stores sell junk off cheap and Black Friday was modeled after that but in typical Canadian fashion we had to steal American ideas even after they took it from us."

The above makes NO SENSE. Americans have the MOST disposable income. Sure some countries have a higher avg income but considering we pay MUCH less in taxes we are left with more spending money. We also pay less in food, energy, etc so that means more in the pocket.
That being said people who shop black Friday just aren't internet savvy.

Are use AMEX card and shoprunner is free(2 day shopping).
Nothing beats internet shopping but I think most consumers are still not internet shoppers.Use discover card also for big discounts/cash back.

As for the person who said only things needed are those worth paying full value , I say bs. Very little reason anyone should pay full price. Is just a matte of being patient and waiting for the sales.
I needed a new watch,wanted a Movado. Paid $189 after discounts/sale/codes tha twould normally be 500.
Got Hugo Boss suit for $400 that normally sells for 1k.
Its all about knowing when things drop in price. Its one of the things i love about US compared to lets say Ukraine. In Ukraine they don't have sales or discounts. The 500 dollar movado sells for 650, the 1k Hugo Boss suit sells for 1300. Here things are cheaper to begin with and you can always get cheaper.

fOLLOW slickdeals.com. These guys know about sales more than most pua's know about pussy lol.

They have disposable income, but spend far more than they earn because they use credit to satisfy impulsive desires without stopping to think whether they can actually affort it or not. Then, instead of making sure they first purchase is fully-paid off, they impulse buy again. They treat it like a magic well of instant cash, until they max the card out. From my experience, I'd say the average 28-year-old woman is at least 10 grand in debt.

I've been doing a lot of online selling and buying lately, and it's been a huge eye-opener for just how paycheck-to-paycheck most people seem to be living. The majority of people seem incapable of instantly producing any amount of real cash, so there's always this evasive dance of 'can you wait until payday', even more in the dead space weekend partying and payday.

Debt goes even further than credit cards. Most families I know have repayment plans for their electricity, and are always paying it off. I have money to pay the full amount, because I budget, and know how much of my paycheck is money I can spend or save, and how much of it has been pre-spent by sitting still in modern society.

I had an unexpected $1200 plumbing bill the other day. I had the savings to cover it, and will just deny myself impulse wants for a couple of months until the money is replaced. Girls can't do this: if it's bright and shiny they want it now.

Last year a woman pepper sprayed people during Black Friday last year, going for an XBOX. I don't usually go to the sales, but I still get the deals. I wanted some very good, cheap computer parts at Wal-Mart that would be on sale for black Friday. I went and cut the pallet packaging open and bought the product. Got the discount pricing, and I don't have to deal with the lines. Fuck yeah.

Well women are manipulated by media/Hollywood ..we all know that.Down to who they attract to , what they buy etc. But women can get away with it because 1.bail out by family, 2. get married and while husband is paying mutual bills she can use her money to get out of debt.
But one of the largest reason for debt in America has always been medical related and the sink and swim move out on your own attitude. Many families won't take children back in when they need help so they run up bills.
That being said the American economy tanked from being a country of savers to a country of borrowers in the 1980's. EASY CREDIT! Growing up(i am 40) we had layaway where we actually had to save up to buy things that were being held for us. But we earned interest while saving. Now the avg person buys it right away and pays interest. So they in fact pay more than what its worth. But this is not solely an American mentality anymore....it has reached the 3rd world even.I remember my Ukrainian real estate agent in Odessa looking at getting an 18% interest loan to buy a car..now that is insane.

I heard this on the radio the other day. The host said that the biggest thing he remembers his father telling him was - a strong sign of maturity was the ability to delay gratification. I thought it was a pretty insightful comment.

I can't stress enough how important it is for a man to have that ability. Learning to work hard now for a delayed reward is a path to lasting achievement.

Absolutely. Black Friday is one of the crown jewels of the American year. Far from being a sign of any sort of decline, it is a great day that showcases America's continuing strength.

There is nothing vulgar in the transition between the soaking sentimentality of Thanksgiving and the stampeding greed of Black Friday. It is a beautiful and exquisitely appropriate pivot between two modes that are equally important and necessary to the human being.

It is right to look back and give heartfelt thanks for what we have as we gather in the gloaming with those we are close to, for better and worse; it is even more right to then turn to the present and future and realize the burning rage of the need for more. And yes, more meaning more material things, more consoles/ipads/X-Boxs and other great products that are yearly churned out in the ferocious quest for entertainment, convenience and interest in the midst of the human being's terrible struggle to prevail over materials.

It is this implacable rage for more, so perfectly and literally embodied in the great American stampedes of Black Friday, that drives the human being towards progress in understanding and mastering the material world that confronts and thwarts us at every step. The seeming troglodytes that break down the doors of Walmart on a chilly Friday morning when it's still dark in a gladiator-like quest to attain that X-Box have a better understanding of the true nature of life and of the human being's place in the world than the scolds who mock and disdain them.

It has been noted by many literary characters that the American par excellence possesses the capacity for the most childlike unabashed sentimentality and the most childlike untrammeled greed, often in dizzyingly close succession. This is true. What is rarely recognized is that these are both superb virtues of the American character that guarantee our domination and supremacy going forward. And never is this capacity more vividly realized than in the great pivot between the Thursday and the Friday of Thanksgiving week.

Casually noticed a black friday discount today (saturday). I got a gopro black for $250 (best buys price) from Academy sports (who matched the price), which is $80 off the current price, and $150 off the price three months ago when the newer camera came out. Damn good deal for top of the line stuff.

Got an amazing Ralph Lauren peacoat from $395 for $149.

Really happy about it. Luxurious. Really soft shoulder, soft wool, slouchy, lined with silk and some suede details, double breasted with a zipper also.

I once got a great topcoat on Black Friday for $100. You could easily pay up to five times more for such a coat under normal circumstances. That was a real steal.

Still, there is something revolting to my eyes at how people will stampede like a herd of wild animals and camp out for days just to buy a bunch of shit, usually on a credit card. Bunch of losers. The fact that this ritual has officially seeped into Thanksgiving now is more disheartening.

Generally, if you do Black Friday, do it on the internet.
