An American girl walks into a Kiev cafe.........

As you all know Kiev has been not a great place to travel to and game the last 3 weeks with the protest. The reason I'm holding off on my datasheet for Kiev and all Ukraine is because things are changing. I will be there this weekend to check things out, get a better view of whats going on, and to see if any places around the center have been getting any business. Especially Vodka Bar being located under Independence Square. Even though I don't recommend the place or any of the main stream bars and clubs in the center.

thanks will be interesting to hear about what's going on there. I personally am monitoring the situation closely and wondering just how much it escalates from here. Seems like the local authorities are starting to take the Russian approach and cracking down mostly in terms of 'preventative' measures which effectively make it tougher to protest but not totally sure.

Around Kiev life is going on as normal. Just less people around. Mainly because it is much colder than it was earlier this month.
The night establishments in the center are basically what is expected. Not much going on. Probably about 1/2 of a normal night.
As for the protest still have a couple of thousand people camping around the square at night then swelling up during the daytime. Also some buildings are still occupied by the protesters.

Ukraine Data

Sunday Dec 15 Kiev
Monday Dec 16 Lvov
Tuesday Dec 17 Donetsk
Wednesday Dec 18 Odessa
Thursday Dec 19 Dnipropetrovsk
Friday Dec 20 Kherson
Saturday Dec 21 Nikolayev
Sunday Dec 22 Uzhogorod
Monday Dec 23 Sevestapol
Tuesday Dec 24 Yalta

They will come out on the dates listed above. This is to get people a chance to see each one individually and comment.

KIEV

The first time I visited this city was back in October 2012. The reason I became intrigued by Ukraine was from dating 2 Ukrainian girls when I was living in Santa Monica, CA. Before I met them, I knew very little about the country, except that it was in Europe and it was the center of the so called mail order bride world. By dating them, experiencing their beauty, how they carried themselves, and femininity. I had to go experience this place for myself.

Just a little about myself before I continue.
I am a black male in my low 30’s. I am 5’9” (1.75m) and my weight varies between 160 and 170lbs.

Women: Kiev is a microcosm of all the women of Ukraine. You have the model agencies that recruit women, the best universities that attract the brightest students, the center of media, marketing, and government for the country. (In other words many hot women per capita) This in turn you get women that are more, worldly, than the average Ukrainian from the smaller second tier cities. During the warmer days of the year you will break your neck looking at the women walk past you in short skirts and high heels. Does this mean they are better?! The answer to that question is what are you looking for? The average girl in Kiev is looking for a man that will take care of her. I know many of you know that it takes several dates to get a lay in Ukraine. The ONS seems to happen only with the older women (28+). This is the group that is more desperate and willing to give anything to have a foreigner take her away or is not getting looked at by the local men anymore because she has hit the wall hard. Ukrainian women are also very receptive to having foreigners talk to them on the street and any other place. Especially if you look under 40 and dress nicely, you will be looked at constantly. Also if you are a good looking guy you have it in the bag easily. Perception is key here in Ukraine. If you look like a bum. You will be treated like a bum. If you look like you have something going for you. You will be treated as such. In my own experience is just dress nice and having basic Russian skills will open you to a whole new world of women, no matter your race.
Also to add you should make friends in Ukraine before going to show you around. (Guys and girls) This can be done through VK or the many dating sites geared towards FSU. One you will have someone waiting for you at the airport so you will not get haggled and on the plus side you have a quick lay before venturing out. For the guy friends if you have them around the notion that you are a sex tourist goes away and you have them for a hookup, or if you ever get in trouble. Plus all of them will introduce you to their friends and your network grows from there. Then you have access to anything you want.
Where to go: Most of us on this board hit the clubs around Kreschatyk and never venture out of this area. This is a bad idea. Most of the women that venture into those clubs are looking for sponsor, p4p, or you have the girl that may wonder in with her girlfriends looking for a guy to buy them, drinks for the night. The places I recommend are the bars around the universities in Kiev. If you are looking for women under 24 and a more receptive to interaction and not out to take you for a ride. These are the places to go. If you want to day game the park in front of National Taras Shevchenko University is the best place by none. Especially during the spring time you have girls out there studying on the park benches or lay out on the lawn reading a book. Also Kreschatyk, the Golden Gate, the large malls in the suburbs (another best place), cafes around the center, Kreschayati Park (the amphitheater late at night overlooking the arch and left bank of Dnieper river, is a gathering hangout to drink and talk with locals), and Mariinskyi Park, are great places for day gaming.
To add a footnote there are beaches on the river in Kiev. During the summer months it’s great to venture down there and chat up some girls.

Race Issues: I have experienced 2 racial incidents while in Kiev. They were only men that I received this from. In one incident I was walking with my girl back to my place at 3am in the morning and 3 guys walk up behind us. One starts air humping her ass with his umbrella. I look back and say WTF are you doing?! He starts to go on a rant and say what are you going to do nigger?! The guy was drunk so I paid him no mind. Then he follows us and continues the rant about whites and blacks should not mix. Also I should go back to Africa. (I’m a US citizen and my family has been in the US 300 years). My girl grabs my arm and tells me don’t do anything just keep walking. So I do and the guy eventually leaves.
The next incident was on the subway escalator, when about 15 guys that had their faces covered in bandanas and were yelling hail white supremacy chants while riding the escalator down to the subway. I was riding the escalator up to the exit and one said “fuck you nigger!”
In all I never feared for my safety in both of these instances. You just need to be cautious of your surroundings. Also this is where the Ukrainian guy friends come in handy. When you make a guy friend in Ukraine. You are expected to help him in a time of need. That is reciprocated back to you at any time. It’s a true friendship that last.
I met most of the guy friends at local bars or when took a girl out to a restaurant and they will ask me to come over to their table and have a drink.
As for the women I received no race hatred. In some respects you are liked more because of being a different race. It’s always a niche. A black man has that niche with a certain percentage of girls that will go for you hard in any white or Asian homogenous country. In Ukraine I had girls come up to me because of my race. At restaurant a waitress kept eye balling me the whole time was I was sitting working on my laptop after I finished eating. An R&B song came on the speakers and she started swaying back and forth. After I was finished I asked for the check in the back of the folder was a note asking for my phone number and if I was free that night.

Accommodation: Do not rent a hotel in Eastern Europe. I repeat do not rent a hotel in Eastern Europe. You can have way cheaper accommodations renting an apartment. The websites I use are
http://www.dobovo.com
http://www.airbnb.com
http://www.kievforrent.com
Many guys make the mistake of not negotiating the price down from the posted price. They just pay the posted price. I have stayed in the center for $30 a day in luxury one bedroom apartments. If you don’t speak Russian, then this is where your Ukrainian friend can help you negotiate the price or google translate and write an email.
Plus by having an apartment you can have your girl cook for you and it’s more comfortable.

In all Kiev is a great city to visit. You will have fun if you are looking for a long term relationship or to have girls on rotation every time you arrive. For ONS I would look towards the big cities in Russia or central-eastern European countries.
I personally would never set up shop in Kiev to stay for long term unless it’s during the spring and summer months when everyone is out late at night and the city is more, livelier. Also you have the girls dressed to the T and a lot of skin exposed!
With the protest going on don’t mind it. Just stay out of the square and around the government buildings and you will be fine. Outside of that zone life is back to normal.

Calwinston, A+ report. Do you every head to Ukraine though "on the fly" as I did without knowing anyone and just hope that through day/night-game approaches and hanging out in common area's, say the multitude of cafe's by Golden Gate that you'll meet friends?

I found your report of meeting women there as accurate, especially the comment about ONS not happening though I had little success in making any guy friends and I did try to approach other dude's at clubs and chat them up in both Russian and English as I was bored and needed a wingman.
Actually I had an episode by City Center-Arena area in Kiev where some drunk guy started shouting at me across the bar for being a foreigner and hitting on his women. At that point I changed to another language (German) which threw him off temporarily and then offered to buy him a drink. Had it been a bar in DC I would have asked him to step outside alas in a foreign country one can't make this mistake...

One more thing I forgot about in this report!
Taxi: The airport has a official taxi stand (Sky Taxi) now in the new Terminal D. As you exit customs they will be directly in front of you. If you need a taxi and do not have anyone picking you up they are the ones to use. Do no bother with the guys asking you if you need a taxi. Have the person at the counter write down the quote so you know what ballpark the figure will be. If you were overcharged at the end of your trip (they use a meter) just have the number of the taxi stand. They will remedy the problem. They will remedy the problem because they do not want to get into trouble with the airport authorities an be banned from doing business. The typical price from the airport to the center is 150-200 uah. They use a meter so you know how much you are being charged. The price back to the airport is about 160 uah. Sometimes if you use the local companies in town you can get as low as 140 uah.
For the guys that want to go the cheap route there is also a bus that takes you to the central train station. The cost of this express bus is 40 uah.

I meet friends mainly by just talking to people at bars and online meetup groups. A club is the wrong place to start chatting up a guy. His main focus is talking to girls for the night. At a bar or cafe its more relaxed atmosphere. Sometimes its their first time in direct contact with a foreigner, they will offer you a drink and start talking to you. In FSU, VK is your friend. Just set up a profile and look at meetup groups that interest you. I also had people just come up to me because I am foreigner and start making conversation and asking for my picture. Most of the people that do that are not from Kiev but from the second tier cities visiting for the weekend.
One morning I was sitting on the balcony that overlooks Independence Square watching the sunrise two guys that were brothers come up from a night of drinking and asked me to take some shots vodka shots with them. They just happened to have a bottle of vodka from the night. I obliged and partook in drinking a couple of shots and we talked about the US, NBA, etc.. Then they offered me to come back to their place for lunch. I hesitated for a second since I just met these guys about one hour ago. Then he chimed in his girlfriend was cooking so I said okay. This will never happen in a western country. I went with them and they turned it into a miniature party with about eight of their friends. Turns out one of the guys was a head engineer at the major corporation in Kiev and had a apartment that overlooked the city. It was a great time and we still keep in contact when ever I come to Kiev.
As for the drunk guys that haggle us foreigners Its out of jealousy, not because they really care who you are talking to. If they could talk to the girl you are talking to they would pay you no mind.
As for traveling to the country on the fly. I have never done that. I always had something going on each time I arrived. Except the first time I had no idea where to go or what to do. So I just started exploring. My most recent visit was my sixth time in Ukraine. One mini stint of three months back in March to May this year also.

I think you being a black guy and having the "exotic factor" helped in that situation. Since I look like a local unfortunately for me I have to make all the first approaches. Great ideas about the meetup groups though I do not think you meant (meetup.com) since that site does not seem to have a presence there. I heard from a local girl with whom I correspond online that Golden Gate Pub in Kiev has a few English language meetups so I will definitely put that on my agenda. Again, thanks for the tips and looking forward to your trip reports of the second tier cities in UA.

I just have a technical note about the videos Calwinston linked to in his initial post. There is a way to remove background noise or music from a recording if you want to isolate a voice.

Download the freeware sound editing program Audacity. Go to the "noise removal" feature. Use the feature to sample the background noise/music to get a "noise profile." Then hit "select all" and apply that to the whole file and click on "noise removal" again. It removes most of the background. If you want to bring out the voice even further, use the EQ setting to figure out which sonic range the voice falls within, then raise that fader, while lowering the others.

I'd do a quick fix here, but I'm on an old computer because my better one died.

An American girl walks into a Kiev cafe.........

Lviv/Lvov/Lwow

Most of us know that Lviv is the unofficial capital of western Ukraine. It’s where you will hear Ukrainian spoken more than Russian. In some respects Russian is even looked down upon. It is a city that has more in common with Hungary and Poland that only lies 70 km away than further east and the rest of Ukraine. This is the part of Ukraine that wants to join the EU after looking at how Poland’s economy has improved dramatically after joining in 2004. Also you have more people in this region that claim to be Catholic than the Christian Orthodox we attach to this region of the world. The feel you get from the city is stepping in Poland or Czech Republic 20 years ago. We could go into a whole history lesson about Lviv and why it’s more central European in religion, attitude, and traditions, due to empires and wars, but this is not that post.

Women: Due to Lviv having a more Catholic and Jewish presence the girls that have more in common with their Polish cousins, than other Slavic girls in Ukraine. They dress similar, look similar, and act similar to a certain instinct Polish. In the matter of dress, women in Lviv, dress less provocative than women in eastern Ukraine. The look is still feminine and desirable, but just less revealing. Unfortunately you have the more Polish and Hungarian looks in the face, but what comes with that is the curvier figure. So you have a catch 22. So it is a downgrade in quality compared to eastern Ukraine. The plus is the girl is more traditional and I have found that are more loyal. Also the women in this part of Ukraine may even crack a smile when you walk by and say hello. Most women here are not out for your money but just a good man to be with them. In ONS’s you have the girls in the local universities that have a more western attitude towards sex. The top spot to meet them is Metro.

Places to Meet: Metro is the top club for the under 30 crowd in the city. For Lviv being a city of only 750,000 the club has a fan page on Facebook with 120,000 likes. That tells you how popular the club is among people in Lviv and the international students that frequent the city for study abroad stints. Also this is the easiest place to get an ONS. Girls go to Metro looking to hook up with foreigners. If you are looking for a more sophisticated vibe then you should head out to Rafinad or Fenomen. Both of these places have face control and dress codes. When you walk in you can tell by quickly by the quality of women these are the places to be in Lviv. Unfortunately you run into the language barrier if you do not speak English in the two later spots. Lviv is also known for its themed bars. The best place many people go to is Kryvijka. It’s a Ukrainian bar where you have to say a code word, you are loyal to Ukraine, and they will ask if any Russians are with you?! Your response should be” no” or you will not be let in. When you walk in there is a lot of war paraphernalia on the walls and all around. It’s a place you can meet many foreigners and local Ukrainians.
For day game the top spot is the square in front of the opera house. This place you basically have half of the city that transverses through here any given day. Also you may get many eye fucking stares from women while hanging out on the many benches that line the square. I had this cute 19 year old chick walk up to me a randomly give me chocolate. I took the bait even, though I don’t like chocolate. This was here opener to break the ice with me. We ended up talking and I got her number to meet her later. Also you have the many chocolate cafes that line the square and are all around the city center. These are great places to meet girls randomly.

Race: Never had a problem. Works in your favor if you speak Italian, Spanish, or Portuguese. For some reason girls here like that. Even though they will have no idea what you are saying most of the time.

Accommodations: As I have recently stated here Dobovo is the best website to find accommodation here in Ukraine. Negotiate the price always. Lviv is about half cheaper than Kyiv in accommodations and cost of living. If you stay for a month you can find luxury apartments for $400 a month and up (negotiated, not posted).

Transportation: To get there most of us will be dropped in Kiev from any major international city in Europe. Once inside the country you can take cheap flights to Lviv. Sometimes there are cheap flights from Kiev that start at $25(140uah). Also you can fly directly into Lviv from many central European cities. The best option is to take the train to Lviv after landing in Kiev. There are many trains that take you there that have different classes. The top one is the intercity train that takes 4.5 hours and cost $27-50 (220-400uah). They brought these trains in from South Korea for Euro 2012 and they are still operating. The trains take you from one side of the country to the other at 140-180 km an hour. They have major stops in Lviv, Kiev, Kharkiv, and Donetsk. There are shorter stops in smaller cities along the way. Also they have movies or major sporting events playing on these trains to keep you entertained. The lower class sleeper trains take between 9-12 hours and cost $8-30 (65-240uah). You can take during the daytime or save money and do the overnight if you don’t want to waste a day in traveling the country. The best way is to go to the central Kiev train station and purchase the ticket at the window. If you don’t speak Russian, use a translator and put it in your phone. Then give to the agent at the window. An agency will charge you twice/triple the price for the tickets.
From the Lviv train station you have many options to get around. They are tram, bus, taxi, and walking. The city center is a short distance from the train station. About a 20-30 min walk. If you don’t know where you are going just take a taxi. As you know all the taxis give a bullshit price to start. Negotiate the price down. There are many forums online to help you out with that scenario and the typical price to a certain part of the city.

Lviv is a great city to visit for history and its women. If you are into the Polish type of beauty (curvier, but less face quality) then Lviv is your closest bet to this in Ukraine. It is a small introduction to Polish girls, if you have never been to Poland. It is also the easiest place for ONS’s in all of Ukraine in my experience. The plus side is that it’s much cheaper than Kiev and you do not run into the p4p trap at the club. In the end they are warm, more receptive, interactive, and smile when you talk to them. If you are into it, they are good catholic girls that are marriage material.

The exotic factor does help me in Ukraine. I never understood the race issues people bring up about eastern Europe. All the race issues you see come from disgruntled men, who need to let out their frustration. The only reason a girl will not date a person of color I find is because of personal preference, being labeled by racist guys, or issues with the family(ie Dad). This you will find in any culture.
Like I said a certain segment of the population goes hard for guys of color in any country. This is mainly due to American marketing of black culture in the US to all over the world. Music, movies, etc.

Donetsk

Donetsk is city in eastern Ukraine of just under 1 million people and 90 km from the Russian border. By that observation you know where the sphere of influence will be coming from. Donetsk is run by the mafia. The mafia controls almost all entities in the city. Those entities basically have back room trading deals with many Russian firms. Much money from Russia flows in the city creating a higher standard of living than many other cities in the region. You also have many stores that nobody walks into but have high luxury cars (Bentleys, Land Rovers, Lamborghini’s, etc.) sitting in front of these establishments. They are money laundering places for the mafia. Stay far away from them.

Women: The women in Donetsk are beautiful. You also have a small immigration community from the Central Asian countries. Instead of just the Slavic look you get a nice mix of Asian and some of the Balkans. The top women (8 and above) are very receptive to you if you have money. If you don’t have money they will not even bat an eye at you. The top tier women have mafia guys throwing money at them constantly. This has corrupted their minds into waiting for the best. So in this instance your quality will go down. The quality goes back up for the over 30 crowd or the girls under 21 who still has not been seek and found by one of the local mafia guys. In the 21-30 segment you can almost forget about it. Unless you are prepared to spend a lot of money. Even during day game you can get cold receptions from these women. It’s one of the coldest cities I have been to in trying to game top tier women. If you want to go below this segment in quality (7’s and below) then Donetsk is your oyster. Speaking Russian is forte in this region. A large segment of the population does not even speak Ukrainian. If you do speak Ukrainian to try to impress a girl you will get many stares from people around of discontent.

Where to meet: You have a couple of small universities and girls walking along the river park that are open to meeting foreigners. The best place to meet women are at the bars. They are more relaxed and receptive. The bars that I attended frequently in the city are Golden Lion Pub, Chicago Biker’s Bar, and Bandy. The other places you can game is very few and far in between. You have some cafes. None compared to the amount you find in Kiev or Lviv. You have a couple of museums and art galleries. Never tried my luck at the museums and art galleries since I was in with a girl. When I was at those places the talent walking around was top notch. You do have many nightclubs in the city. The only problem is that they are not in a central location. So prepare to fork over money for a taxi if you want to change venues.

Accommodations: Use Dobovo as your main site. The problem with Donetsk is that the prices are similar to Kiev or even higher in some cases for less quality. If you have a football match that weekend prices double or triple.
http://www.dobovo.com

Transportation: You have an express intercity train from Kiev that takes 6 hours. You also have a couple of overnight trains that take on average 12 hours from Kiev.
http://www.uz.gov.ua/en/
http://tickets.ua/en

Race Issues: None. Just learn Russian before you come. People will be more receptive.

Donetsk is a city that I would not recommend based on the exorbitant cost of accommodations and having to deal with a city overrun by mafia guys trying to extort every last cent out of you through their restaurants, bars, etc. Girls are nice but be prepared to spend money. If you do come to this region, I would recommend the many smaller cities around that the women are more receptive, charming, and money is less of a factor for the top tier women. I will write about those cities in later posts.

The description of Donetsk is accurate. Moreover in the high end clubs you find a lot of the mafia types.Girls are relatively harder than in other places of Ukraine and demand material offers immediately before even the relationship starts.
The only good places for daygame in Donetsk are the benches in central square(scattered) and in park where many girls( also from other Ukrainian cities who visit take a stroll). There is also a mall close to bus station.People are in a hurry and it is not the relaxed atmosphere you find in university towns like Lvov.

Mariupol just 2 hours from Donetsk is a lot better.Hotels in Donetsk are rather expensive a common trick is to stay in Makeevka just 30 minutes from Donetsk and visit it.

I also agree with the description of Lvov.Great place for daygame as women dolled up stroll up and down in the centre in the streets around operni teatr waiting to be hit by guys. The poorest region in Ukraine.Girls rather thin with polish looks and some similarities to polish behaviours.
It is the place to get the polish girl you dream of but you cannot get in Poland.(very young, thin, beautiful).
Competition of Ukrainian guys is obsolete in Lvov(they do not have money to even afford entrance in disco) no relation to the macho mafia guys in Donetsk and some extra rich kids in Kiev high end clubs.Even for Ukrainian guys Lvov is considered easy and girls there not so hardcore material oriented as in eastern Ukraine.

An American girl walks into a Kiev cafe.........

Great write ups Cal.

Looking forward to your Kherson report!
I personally met a great love of my life from this city and enjoyed every minute I was there with her in the apartment I rented this past summer.

There were many extremely beautiful women walking around; waiting for buses, shopping, etc. just waiting to be day-gamed. Unfortunately I didn't speak a whisper of the local language but I got stares from so many girls...

Kiev is also amazing, but as soon as my russian gets a little better I will be returning to Kherson as it is looking to be my personal poosy paradise

Awesome data here Cal. +1 from me.

I thought Kiev was tops, but now you've got me thinking about Lviv for my next visit.

You mentioned Lviv girls are curvier than in Kiev. I found Kiev girls to be the curviest white girls I've ever seen (waist to hip ratio). More so than Wroclaw, which I found almost too skinny. Is it really even better?

How is English language ability in Lviv compared to Kiev? Is there a big school of linguistics located there?
