First, you have a car so my assumption is that you're not completely poor, but rather 'not comfortable'. I'm going to be frank; I did the same as you for a while and got 0 dates.

I hit a point where my date conversion went from 0% to 70+% (from numbers - I'll get a number from maybe 30-40% of genuine approaches, though I put a lot of feelers out and am generally sociable so it's hard to say a real number). They're easy to get now; now I'm learning how to get farther with the chicks.

Long story short - it's a mental thing. You'll get there. It takes time and effort. It burns you out. You may say you aren't sick of game; doesn't matter, take 3-4 days off. Then take a few hours for the next couple days to warm up; then go hard. There's an 8-10 day routine. You'll learn, you'll get there. There's something in what you are doing that is totally wrong - that's okay, and it's why you are here learning more.

I hear ya on the money thing... my car's a crap pile, I live with my parents, barely make money; but life goes on, I've got my eyes on my business. I spend $10 on a date, max. $7 for lattes and $3 on the games of pool when I pull to a bar. I definitely feel more confident when I drive my family's truck around though. Doesn't matter if anyone sees it; just driving it makes me feel more confident. Which leads back to it simply being a mental thing.

Well, I was hitchhiking for its own sake back in the day, and all different kinds of people would pick me up. Couple of weirdos, but mostly regular people. I would say about 30% of my rides were from women, and of those, half were bangable and interested. One time an ASU chick looped back around to pick me up in the middle of Phoenix. She had weed, which was good. I dropped the old "Man it's hot as hell and I've been hitching for days and sure could use a shower" and was back at her place before I knew it.

Another time in Northern Cali a good-looking late twenties professional-type brunette picked me up but "could only take me a little way". Usually when someone says that it means they feel morally obligated to pick you up, but they don't want to, so they want you to turn down the ride. But when a woman, alone, picks up a strange dirty man from the side of the road, it's because she wants a strange, dirty, possibly dangerous man in her car.

I wouldn't try to make any super aggressive moves on a chick who picks you up while she's driving. The best thing is to find a reason for her to take you somewhere (besides just dropping you off at her exit or whatever). This can be anything. The shower thing is great. Another one is, I would always carry a gallon jug of water, and I'd ask if she could take me somewhere I could fill it. Sometimes this is her place, more often its one of those machines at a grocery store, at which point you can suggest getting something to eat, you both go inside, you're broke so you just grab a cheap granola bar or whatever, next thing you know she's filling a cart with shit because she's going to make you dinner....

I'd say it's the same game as anything, basically, but she makes the approach, and she does so because of the mystery and danger you represent. We all know what women's number one fantasy is, and this is her chance to make it happen. When you turn out to be cool and likeable (that is, not creepy), but still mysterious and potentially dangerous, she'll go out of her way to fuck you. It is still very important to not scare the cat, but at the same time, to not get the cat too comfortable.

And yeah, a beach town is perfect. Hitch up and down the coast a little ways. Game the chicks you meet, but even better is that you'll meet all sorts of cool people. I got picked up by a bunch of dudes from...fuck, some Scandanavian country, who came to cali to surf. They taught me how, I sucked at it, hung out and got invited to beach parties.
