Calm down everyone.

Target stores have been doing this for years. Instead of having gender-based categories they just group everything by type of toy. E.g., cars, dresses, sports stuff, board games, etc.

Because toys are marketed with gender in mind (e.g., girls on boxes for girl's toys) the toys end up being separated into girls and boys sections anyway. Hot Wheels is not making fruity pink race car sets, and Disney is not putting out wardrobe for little boys.

Nothing to see here.

I'm waiting for the end of his and hers bathrooms. That will make things very interesting.

It's already being done here in Toronto. Many places have "Unisex" bathrooms here via soft pressure from interest groups. Of course none of them have urinals, if a man feels more comfy standing to pee he is out of luck. I've even seen one that had a fused/forged seat design that you could not lift up.

What you just get is swamp pit of a bathroom and a good place to mess around with a girl when your at a bar. It's all petty politics because some of them arne't accessible. You can make a weak case that you just want evreybody even people in wheelchairs to be 'accommodated'. But when you have 2 bathrooms side by side, down a flight of shaky stairs, both unisex? Whom are you trying to fool.

The worst though was when I was at a jam they made us piss outside or use a outhouse. They turned the guys bathroom in the hall into a female one, so the girls had two bathrooms and we had none.

Canada leading the way again...and "all those who can stand up to piss go outside" is not as exciting a prospect as I thought.

This shit makes me see red and sparks a desire to go on social media and start blasting all my feminism-minded contacts, including my sister.

Haha! Me too. I'm a bit drunk at the moment and it is in times like these that I do post 'bad' stuff on FB.... Only to wake up and see numerous negative comments... So I've learnt to restrain myself recently! It's sad that P.C lemmings have so much power these days. It's also sad how I'm 'friends' with some!

Not sure if it deserved it's own thread. On a search Target was mentioned here.

Target to remove gender-based labeling

Quote:Quote:

Kids visiting Target will no longer have to consider their gender while shopping.

The retailer announced Friday it will start removing gender-based labeling in several departments — including toys, bedding and entertainment — around the store. The company says the decision comes after feedback and suggestions from customers.

"As guests have pointed out, in some departments like toys, home or entertainment, suggesting products by gender is unnecessary," reads a statement from Target. "We heard you, and we agree. Right now, our teams are working across the store to identify areas where we can phase out gender-based signage to help strike a better balance."

The decision will change elements beyond just the signage in these departments. In the children's toys area of the store, Target plans to remove pink, blue, yellow and green paper on the back of the walls to eliminate references or suggestions based on gender.

The company said Target uses signs and displays to make it easier for guests to navigate the store and shop more efficiently. However, gender-based signs in certain areas was no longer necessary.

"We never want guests or their families to feel frustrated or limited by the way things are presented," the statement said.

The move comes after Abi Bechtel, a mother from Ohio, tweeted a photo in June of gender-based signage at a Green, Ohio, Target that sparked a conversation on gender-based signs in the retail stores.

"It stood out to me as a good example of the way our culture tends to view boys and men as the default, normal option and girls and women as the specialized exception," Bechtel told CNN in June.

Customers and Facebook users expressed their views on the statement, signaling satisfaction and disappointment with the retail store.

"This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard," wrote John Wilson. "A boy is a boy and a girl is a girl…and products are specifically made for each."

"Target is not saying that genders don't exist," wrote Amy Severtsen Stanwood. "They are simply recognizing that toys and bedding do not have genders. Mingling superhero action figures with other dolls isn't going to cause children to suddenly question who/what they are."

I won't be shopping there for my kids.

This is a bad business move. Most people with kids support traditional gender roles.

Here's my question... Why is this being announced like its a big deal? If they had simply removed "boys" and "girls" as a prefix from "toys", the boys still would know that Barbie dolls are for girls, and girls would know GI Joe's are for boys. And the fools who care about this nonsense don't actually shop at target.

The issue with Toys R Us and Target isn't about gender. The issue regarding Starbucks a few months ago wasn't about race.

The larger subject here is whether corporations should be telling us how we should think and what's right and wrong.

Ironically, the leftist crowd that's supposed to distrust corporation has no problem going along with this kind of social engineering. So it's left to people on the right to protest.

People on the left don't seem to understand that when you get used to drinking the corporate kool-aid, it's real easy for them to slip poison into it. What happens when they stop selling certain CDs or books because they don't conform to this mode of thinking? What happens if they decide to ban certain holidays because they offend people? Or t-shirts? Or greeting cards? Or food that might offend certain types of people?

A little of this goes a long way towards reshaping a society. When the local or federal government does this sort of thing, at least the people who disagree know they had their say but lost to the majority. With corporations it's a dictatorship and you get no say.

Except to shop elsewhere. There's always that.

Steve Sailer has written about the subject of non-gendered toys several times. He points out that anyone with kids will realize that kids themselves desperately want gender-specific toys, and that in fact in the past this gender-neutral toy trend was tried, and it was found that pretty pretty princesses and alien blaster guns far outsold the gender-neutral toys.

You just said that toys were degenderized in 1975. Surely today's parents must be nostalgic for the Pat the Androgynous Action Doll that their aunt bought them at the womyn's co-op in 1975?

Oh, wait, you mean nobody remembers the neutered toys from this brief consciousness-raised phase fondly? Now why would that be?

How did that leftist SJW gender neutral (anti sexist) toy strategy work out for them ?

I've read reports that Toys R Us donated to Planned Parenthood, and then mentioned declining birthrates as a reason for their bankruptcy.

I mentioned in another thread, toys r us went bankrupt because they were bought buy Bain Capital through a leveraged buyout. Consumers could care less about SJW shit.

When they were bought by Bain Capital, they had $2.3billion in debt that they were able to service. Through their creative accounting, they pushed enough debt onto toys r us to the tune of $7.6billion which cost toys r us $400 million annually to service. In 2016 they reported a loss of $29 million. They would have generated substantial profit had they not been saddled with such heavy debt obligations.

Like I said, consumers give zero fucks about SJW tripe when Black Friday rolls around. Toys r us is dying because they got fucked by private equity, and weren’t able to adapt to changing market conditions.

Good observation. Very few people know about leveraged buyouts and their disastrous affects on the economy. The same exact thing is happening to Guitar Center stores that are straddled with $1 billion debt due to Bain Capital's shenanigans. iHeartMedia, the largest U.S. radio station owner, filed for Chapter 11 protections due to $20 billion debt. Those fuckers at Bain are bankrupting the companies to sell their most valuable asset, land and buildings.

Actually in many cases, the real estate isn’t even worth all that much any more. If the local toys r us closes, what takes its place? Not much when you look at current retail trends.

Good thing they're going bankrupt.

But seriously, are they going to get rid of the colors blue and pink?

Cerberus did the same thing to Remington. Its unfortunately much easier to load a company with debt and collect high interest payments, then actually try to turn it around.

A good analogy is in the Sopranos episode where they buy the sporting goods store, then proceed to buy a ton of stuff on store credit and sell on the street, pocketing the cash. Eventually they plan to run the store bankrupt, but before that will have collected their money and then some.

While Bain Capital is a parasitic entity that needs to be regulated into oblivion, any business that greedily issues tons of voting stock and doesn't keep at least 50% of it in the hands of someone responsible willingly opens itself to this crap (in the case of Toys R Us, that happened way back in 1978).

Non-voting stock was invented for a reason, but I guess getting the maximum out of your IPO matters more nowadays.
