Brixton has stopped being a rough place years ago, didn't former PM John Major come from there?

That apartment is nice but damn that is alot of money, who is going to buy that.

There are rougher areas in other parts of London, East London comes to mind.

One approach I haven't tried but would recommend giving a go: Because the drinking age in the UK is 18 (or 19?) then basically all university students can drink. At the same time, they have no money and drinks are expensive.

What I noticed is that most universities have their own student union (student center) with a bar and even parties on weekends. I have no experience going to one in the UK as my schedule didn't permit, but I have been by them during the day on university campuses, and they did seem set up for a big party.

Walk up Brixton tube station at 8 in the morning on a weekday...an avalanche of 'young professionals'and PR blondes On their way into the city....not too much space for the Rastaman these days!

Haha

It seemed like the worst place to be back then with alot of shady looking somalians and nigerians. Oh well, its a good sign it has changed [Image: wink.gif]

I was in Brixton today. Looks like a legit place. Actually has a community feel without Starbucks/Pret A Manger/Costa everywhere. Very busy, vibrant, mostly black but decent mix of people. Waaay better than Finsbury Park. Home to O2 Academy, which features all these incredible international acts for bargain ticket prices. Good transport links.

Can definitely see why it is on the up as a place to live. Will probably fall victim to London's very aggressive rate of gentrification though...

London is a cool place to live in general. It's a melting pot of culture and if you're into music, history, food then it's your kind of place.

The nightlife is so varied. There's something for everyone.

However the quality of the women in my opinion isn't great. It can be hit or miss in the evenings unless you're going to more high-end places.

London is a good place to live if you're on top of your game and you're earning decent money, if not London can be very cruel.

Not to say it cannot be done. But unless you've got a decent bankroll I think you could live a better quality life elsewhere. Because in London you will just bleed money.

Dk's last paragraph is the truth. I've left London for now, I'll be back someday but I've got better things going on elsewhere.

I love Brixton. That's where I stayed last time I was in London a couple years ago. It's like Brooklyn's (especially Flatbush) cousin across the pond. Mostly Afro-Caribbean/African folks like you said, but multicultural no less. I went to an internet cafe a couple of blocks down from the tube station and the guy working there was Eritrean. I was on a skype call for a while and ordered a cappuchino and when it was time to pay dude said I ain't gotta pay anything. Great intro to a new neighborhood.

It has a bit of a dodgy rep (UK speak) for some reason but it's legit IMO. There's a Nando's restaurant there with that bomb peri-peri chicken. What's not to love?

I don't know a lot about London, but I have met a lot of British ladies when traveling. I have seen plenty of hot British girls with a lot of different looks. I was staying in a hostel with a British blonde and an Australian dude who hooked up and fucked in the bunk beside me, thinking everyone was sleeping.

I couldn't get anywhere with these British girls.. I'm older and can't compete looks wise with an Australian Surfer dude, so I have to rely on personality/humor more. So I told a few sarcastic jokes. And I swear these stupid British bimbos couldn't understand that I wasn't serious. I thought they invented sarcasm in the UK? And this wasn't the only time, flirted with a British tourist in Spain and was sarcastic...which usually does well in the USA or Canada and she thought I was being sincere and gave me the ol' crash and burn.

I had the impression that British people were kinda smart and sophisticated, maybe I've been brainwashed by Movies/TV. But from all I have experienced, the average Brit wants to eat Junk food, watch stupid American TV, drink and make fart jokes. Why leave the USA for a $3000 trip to a USA with slightly harder to understand English?

This is something that I am really feeling at the moment.

I used to have my old hometown ON LOCK. Entry to the best clubs was $20 but I got in for free because I knew promoters. Beer was so expensive that none of my mates drank when we were out (maybe 1-2 beers). We just pre-drank.

I was spending around $70 per week going out 3-4 nights to clubs. My rent was $130 per week for large room near city centre.

Picking up chicks was an inexpensive hobby.

In London I'm earning twice as much but bleeding cash. Standard entry to clubs is £20 ($34).

Catching a bus, they don't give out 2hour passes. So if you catch the bus 3 times in 2hours you're paying £7.20 ($12.25) vs. $3.28 back home.

Anyway, I miss being at the top of the social food chain. I don't have the same connections here... yet. I think it will take time. In my old city the player community was mixed together with the club promoter community. So we had prime venues with easy access. I'm not sure if it's the same here. Still haven't met a single self-identifying player in London.

Went out too late tonight and got KB'd from a few places. I was late heading out - around 1.30am. Single male. That's a recipe for dashed dreams haha.

Here's my list of places that I noted down but I can't verify (except Penthouse - v good) on whether they are decent or not. I have assigned them tiers solely based on my observation of the calibre of girl the respective venues seem to attract:

Premier tier:
- DSTRKT

Upper tier:
- Avalon
- Ruby Blue

Middle tier:
- House of Silk
- Area

Lower tier:
- Tiger Tiger
- Zoo Bar

I'd like to hit up DSTRKT next time, preferably with a wing if I can find one.

Dalston StreetFeast was also quite good from a culinary & chilled-out vibe perspective.

I'm going to London next week.

Can anyone give me a tip on the best place to stay for high numbers of approachable women, both day & night?

Courage:

Have you checked out Krauser's blog? (krauserpua.com) Lots of info there on where he approaches girls in London. I want to say Oxford St., but not 100% sure.

I don't know London too well yet.

But at the moment I consider there to be three main areas for girls:

1) Leicester Square inner city area
2) King's Cross/Camden area
3) Shoreditch/Dalston area

Any of those would be excellent.

The percentage of Brits belonging to the underclass is pretty high.

Sheesh... if you look at average UK GDP per head vs other countries its reasonably high... I must dig out a breakdown of mosaic demographic profiles (ie ABC1 etc)...the 'underclass' as you call them would be C1 and D1 category and I am pretty sure its not out of proportion compared to the USA (trailer park trash etc)

High compared to what country?

I would say high compared to Australia and New Zealand. But definitely lower than all of Asia and most of Europe. Probably lower than the United States by the way.

Look at in terms of London, which this thread focuses on.

I have never seen such great concentration of wealth in my life.

Average asking price for a home in London is more than £500,000.

Yes there are some poor people but their poverty is relative, not absolute. UK has a huge welfare state apparatus to give people housing, food and other benefits.

I love a good economic debate as much as the next bloke but can the fellas who have lived or visited&gamed in London comment on the quality of the women? Both looks wise and personality. Is there a common, distinctive British "look" and would you classify their personalities as "immitation Americans"?

Every country I have been to had distinctive differences between the women there. France vs Netherlands vs Spain vs Poland. It would suck if Britain was just an "America lite".

London is London, it really has nothing to do with the rest of the U.K. Most of the wealth in London is foreign(Russian oligarchs, Arab sheikhs,etc..). The average Englishman is struggling. Sheesh is right in that there is a proportionately larger lower-class in the U.K than in say Germany. The class barriers have come down a lot slower than the rest of Europe. And my God, their cockney accents are are really irritating.
