Edit : The staff are live-in, yes. There's 10 of them I think. Look after everything, run errands, cook meals, the works.

Try scouting some locations when you are in those places.

Lumiere,

Based on your time there, where in Thailand would a project like this be best?

Certainly not Bangkok or Chiang Mai

Probably one of the islands in the south.

I agree with Lumiere.

Anything starting with "Koh" would probably be a good start.

Phuket I would imagine is actually not so great since it is soooo whored out (literally and metaphorically) and geared for short term tourists.

You are right about Phuket.

http://www.travelfish.org/islands.php

List of the more prominent Thai islands right here.

Despite wanting to get away from the worse parts of what Thailand's tourism industry has created, there are certain creature comforts and necessities that I'm sure we will all need. Here are some that I can imagine other guys would want to take into consideration:

1. WIFI
2. Banking
3. Air Conditioning (I'm sure some of us would be able to do without but I was definitely suffering in Phuket)
4. Fitness (Muay Thai, Weights, Sex Marathons)
5. Women (although no matter where we are in SE Asia this will never, ever be a problem)
6. Health - access to proper healthcare when necessary - dengue fever is a legitimate issue in these areas
7. Nutrition - not as big of a deal as it would be in Latin America - food in Thailand in particular is great but if a member of the community is limited in eating options (kosher, halal, diabetic, vegan) it might make things complicated

I propose that we set a vision of what exactly we want to accomplish from this. The idea of a group of mobile and dynamic entrepreneurs with similar values but diverse skill sets is strongly appealing to me, as I am sure it is for all of you.

The possibilities here are really endless.

I might also be getting ahead of myself here but I think it would be interesting if we could take a sustainability spin on it and see how "green" we could make the concept. That is probably something that is more long term and would take significant investment, but it is a way to one up Project Getaway and really spread the idea.

Imagine - no more commuting one hour by car to work, polluting the environment. Even just being in an office pollutes the environment as commercial office buildings contribute significantly to water use and greenhouse gas emissions.

Bungalows and food supply all locally sourced, etc.

Again, I might be getting ahead of myself but it was just an idea that suddenly occurred to me - sustainable and off-the-grid communities for mobile entrepreneurs in paradise locations.

Thailand (Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, Koh Samui)
Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam (I don't know where good spots would be, but real estate would be dirt cheap)
Philippines (Palawan, Boracay)
Brazil

This could be replicated everywhere, not just beach locations. SE Asia is, in my opinion, the optimal jumpoff point. The infrastructure for something like this is already there and the cost of setting it up would be significantly less than it would be elsewhere with comparable logistics.

Anyway, this was a long and sort of rambling post. To wrap up I'll ask the following to interested people:

1. What would you expect or want from the community/project?

2. What do you consider to be priority areas for what the community/project should offer?

3. What sorts of people do we want to attract to the community? Will there be a screening process? Who is responsible for the screening?

Well the project getaway guys are screening all applicants obviously.

Bali is already over capacity and this is the first week of the first one.

Once the word gets out and the documentaries get seen it will go viral I am sure.

Best to get involved now and be part of setting up project getaway's in other spots.

Y.M.G is right. Sustainable and off-the-grid communities for mobile entrepreneurs in paradise locations is the way of the future.

This is only the first project getaway and there are so many cool spots around the world where this would work that the scope is enormous.

There are certainly enough people on this forum to help form a mastermind group and help set up subsequent project getaways.

I suggest we do what we can to help these guys get this up and running in both Philippines and Thailand.

YMG,
Double thanks first for the awesome link about the islands review in SEA! Exactly what I have been looking for!
And secondly, your awesome post is exactly along the lines of what I have been thinking on my own in here for the past few days. What I have been thinking is first set up the place to be an awesome environment to be in for young, mobile and successful guys to network with other like minded guys. Then, once it proves to be a success, we could perhaps even allow a limited number of not yet successful but striving to become successful guys. What I mean by that is having on board a core group of 3-5 experts who will train and show the ropes of making it in the online world to a limited number of newbies, say 3-5 per term. Terms can be anywhere between 1 to 3 months at a time. This is what I have been thinking and would like to eventually see go this way. Like a success university type of thing where everything related and of interest to guys like us can be taught (not only online business but also game and life issues in general where newbies can learn from guys who have mastered some or a few of these aspects). There are so many other possibilities/ways this project can steer towards, but will stop in here to get a feel of it form you guys first then we could expand from there. What do you guys think of something like I described? Is it feasible?

YMG, the 3 questions you ask at the bottom of your post are very good ones that should definitely be addressed for the successful implementation of such an idea/project. I think I have answered all 3 questions in the above lines.

Lumiere,
About the part in bold, when you went to their party, did you mention anything related to it? And if yes, did you feel they are open to outsiders assisting them in establishing this elsewhere (namely Thailand as a start then if/when (IMO, more a when than an if as the project has tremendous potential IMO)) it becomes successful and goes viral? If they're not open to outsiders helping them, that's no biggie, we can always start our own project and to be honest, this is what I'd rather do.

I really would love to be part of setting up something like that with other guys from this fine forum of ours. How about we organize a dinner/lunch meet up where those of us that are interested about something like this can meet to discuss things sometime in November/December in Thailand? From the meeting in Thailand thread, myself, Ged, clr will be there and if you Lumiere, YMG and others in the area could join us, we could have have a nice chat about it and have a good time together with the local ladies. What do you guys say?

Yes, I said to the guy that started the whole project that I could help him set up project getaways in other locations around the world.

We talked about Thailand, Brazil and Philippines as I said.

He seemed open and interested but I have not had a response yet from my follow up email to him.

I have no plans right now to be there in November/December. No reasons why we can't form a mastermind group however. All we need is email / msn / skype.

Also online project management can be done with something like :

Count me in. I would be interested in Brazil.

ManAbout,
From what I understand, the project is a 6 weeks thing at a time.
I'll be in TO Town till the 28th of the month. Sure we could meet for a drink or something. In which part of town are you?

Hey, guys, I´m Brazilian and now lots of spots here in my country, so I could help you out if you wanted.

I´d totally be down for something like this, although it´d be more interesting to me if it takes place in the Philippines, as I already know most of Brazil.

By the way, would this project be open for guys who don´t want to start any businesses? I really just wanna hang out with cool wings and bang chicks in a pimp pad in a tropical paradise while not spending much cash. [Image: biggrin.gif]

Hey Brazilianguy,
I am with you on that. I would like to do this, too, probably in Brazil first (where do you think would be good? Floripa? Rio environs? Somewhere up north?) and then Philippines or Thailand or Indonesia.

And yeah, I wouldn't necessarily want to start up any businesses either. I mean, maybe, but maybe not. For me, the "productive" time could be spent on game, learning the local language, artsy/cultural stuff, etc....

Hey, Chaz.

It all depends on what you´re looking for. Do you guys wanna stay off the beaten path or do you wanna go to a touristy place?

Does it have to be on the beach?

Are you looking for brunettes or blondes?
The best places for blondes would be the beaches in the south of Brazil, although they are very touristy.
However, there are some small non explored towns in Santa Catarina that are veritable gold mines for pussy. The bad thing is that there´s not much to do there.

I personally prefer brunettes with big asses so I´m all for the north/northeast of Brazil (I know Roosh doesn´t like it very much there).

I am not sure about location just yet (gotta think about it), but I have to say that this line made me laugh out loud!
