That probably because America's cops are much better at enforcing the laws compared to other country's cops.

If you have dubious laws in place, as in jail sentences for marijuana possession, that's not a good thing.

Make prostitution a viable job for women in America, and I bet you that we'd have a huge wave of American women "re-approriating" it as a new form of feminism or something ridiculous like the slut movement.

I do like the idea of women's sexual attractiveness being commodified. Maybe it will inspire non-hos to keep their bodies in shape.

I like the idea of legalizing prostitution because than it would free up the resources that are used to "fight" it for more important things.

The act of prostitution is guilty by association; there's nothing actually wrong with it- shit, people do a lot worse, soul-crushing things for money, but, it's just associated with underworld activities, so it's illegal.

I don't see a correlation. Governments don't pass laws.

The less responsibility a government has the less stuff they can arrest you for.

Unless you get the attention of the feds it's the state's police and sheriff's departments that arrest (technically a DA) you. On laws passed by Congress.

There really are no connections between your statements. I know you're a fan of conservative ideology but there's really nothing here to pin on the government.

I guess you could blame it on the War on drugs which was declared on an executive level. But that was by Republican president (Nixon) running on a small government platform.

Why are you assuming small gov only applies to the Feds?

I have no idea how you arrived at this conclusion. State has the power to ban prostitution, which honestly should be considered a regular activity in most cities, and throws 100 men in jail for it plus public shaming.

How is that NOT excessive power?

Heh, I'm no fan of Republicans. I rail on Democrats more though because they're the ones in power, and they are much more dangerous than Republicans.

And the War on Drugs was Reagan, I believe.

So you're not talking about THE government but the entire bureaucracy. Which makes even less sense. Not passing laws because you don't want to deal with enforcing them is just zany. I definitely agree that prostitution and marijuana possession are weighted down by bad laws but you can't make a general statement that more enforcing = bad. By the same logic reckless driving or even murder should be decriminalized because they require such large resources to police.

I can't tell if you're serious. A quick Web search would confirm immediately that the war on drugs was stayed by Nixon in 1971.

Feminists also make posters like this one,

trying actually to put in jail 1 out of every 8 men

What kind of weird nomenclature do you subscribe to?

The word "government" refers to everything involving the laws controlling a country. If I wanted to specifically talk about the executive branch, like you are, I would have spoken about the executive branch.

No it's not. Defining and limiting what the government can or cannot do is what the entire US Constitution is built on.

When America followed it's Constitution, it was #1.

I never made any such statement. By small government I do not mean less enforcement, I mean less laws to enforce.

Never knew that. The USA's relationship with drugs is damn long one. Reading the wiki article on it now, goes way back.

Someone should open a novelty shop that sells feminist propaganda posters along side whoopie cushions and snaps.

I think this has more to do with an DA attention whoring(re election year) than a wide ranging feminist conspiracy.

Nassau County is a mess; high taxes, dropping test scores, a heroin/pills and home invasion epidemic that its overpaid police department(175k a year) is unable to stop. The state had to take it over and because they almost went bankrupt like Detroit a year ago. Imagine that? One of the wealthiest counties in the country with the highest property taxes is broke.

What bothers me is that they went thru such lengths logistically to pull this operation off. They had to have a team of cops to put up the ad, another one to answer the phone, had to wired up the room, the dozen of cops probably posted all over the hotel, a Swat team on stand by. This operation was probably done all on overtime. They should have used those resources to bust some home invasions/drug gangs instead but that would required real police work. But because NYC media doesn't like to do real journalism anymore just regurgitate the press releases these clowns write for them, the tough questions don't get asked.

Not to mention that they basically destroyed these guys lives, marriages and livelihood over nonsense. I could see if these guys were showing up there to buy underage pussy, but for this ? The tax payers gets fucked again.

Totally true.

Don't forget also that the DA on this case was a single, frustrated woman,
45 years, without any kids...
