What book changed your life?

The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson- This book helped me understand that taking consistent action everyday on my goals would eventually help me achieve my goals. This is by far one of the best personal development books I have ever read.

The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ Demarco- Im pretty sure alot of you guys have read this or if you have not read this you have at least heard about it. This helped me understand how money works in this world we are living in, and it also helped me kick my entrepreneurial game into high gear.

The Alchemist.

I feel like this book made a strong impression on me but I can't specify how.

First discovered the book almost 10 years ago. I was staying with friends in a strange city and the guy we were crashing with owned a tall row house with several floors. Each floor was like it's own apartment, except they were unoccupied. And there were books everywhere. To this day I have not seen a bigger personal collection of books. Everywhere you went, they were stacked or littered all over the floor, in boxes and shelves and on top of furniture. This guy was a lawyer and very political.

I slept in the basement of the huge house and woke up early the next day. Everyone else was still passed out from drinking the night before so I crept around the house browsing through all the books.

Kicking around through a pile I saw a book called The Illustrated Alchemist. Not having anything to do until my friends woke up, I sat on the floor of the basement and read the entire book from cover to cover in a couple of hours. It was the first and only time I've done that with a book.

It was really engrossing and I'm not sure what I took away from it but it has a unique memory in my mind and still feels very magical. Lots of people say the book is life-changing and there is no doubt there's something in the writing that speaks to your soul.

The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway. As an impressionable youth nothing was more powerful.

"Until the day when God shall deign to reveal the future to man, all human wisdom is summed up in these two words,— 'Wait and hope'."- Alexander Dumas, "The Count of Monte Cristo"

I Don't Want to Talk About It

I discovered this when i went through a phase of trying to understand the psychology behind why people do the things they do.

It was ground breaking to me because it pointed me in the right direction to give a shit about the upbringing of other men and how some deal with coming from a painful past.

Pretty interesting book.

If I had to pick two and only two books, I'd go with 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene, followed by 33 Strategies of War, also by Robert Greene.

IMHO, Power is a better book overall, while Strategies is more focused on "What action can I take". I keep both of them on hand.

I was actually asked this during an interview (luckily the interviewer was a friend of mine and knew my personality) so I answered "The Prince" (absolute truth here).

He then proceeded to ask me what movie changed my life. Without missing a beat (since he was my friend and I was sick of the bullshit questions) I answered "Borat". "Very nice" and "I like" came up at least twice after that. He refused to ask me any more questions and we just sat around B.S-ing for an hour.

Just read Millionaire fastlane recently. Gave a lot of great insights, now I recommend it to any entrepreneur I meet.

For me I think Atlas Shrugged and Sperm Wars were the two biggest game changes. Atlas Shurgged had the biggest impact on my life, philosophically put a lot of things into perspective. Sperm Wars made sense out of a lot of things I didn't understand in my dating life.

Chapter 2, "Petty Tyrants" from Carlos Castaneda's book, "The Fire From Within"

If I could only read one chapter from a book for the rest of my life, it would be that.

Atlas Shrugged is unbelievable. The writing is terrific, the political philosophy oozes brilliantly from the novel, and the plot is good enough to get by.

It is a piece of art.

Nassim Taleb's fooled by randomness, black swan and especially the book anti-fragile have been hugely influential for my life. My life basically revolves around the anti-fragile concept.

Another one has to be Tao Te Ching. It is a great balance for all ego-focused literary we got tons of.

If I had to narrow it down to two-

Atlas Shrugged. There's a quote, I think it's from 1984, that says "the best books tell you what you already know." Atlas Shrugged did just that for me.

Think & Grow Rich. This book taught me how to think. They even make a leather bound bible-looking edition now, it's that important.

I actually just finished that like a month ago. I thought it was a great book, interesting, definitely gave a lot of insights into how the mind works and a lot of the unconscious things that happen where you can get diametrically opposite results simply depending on how ideas are framed, but I'm curious how exactly it changed your life?

This shit was the best book when I was a kid. Taught me how to read and everything. So much red pill analysis can be made out of this book man.

I'd recommend it for people who can't read or needs Thomas the choo choo train to teach them the way.

Nope.

Didn't really change my life (already believed similar things) but would strongly recommend. Strongest intellectual defence of the Right ever written:

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.

The current head of Ayn Rands movement (basically a right-wing group which focuses on philosophical underpinings of capitalism etc) is Yaron Brook, probably one of the most intelligent and best speakers I have seen.
