Men with large shoe collections

Is it [Image: gay.gif] for a guy to own 100+ pairs of shoes? I have a friend that has a sneaker room where he keeps his various shoes. The walls are lined with shelves to hold them on display. He has them in every color and they always match whatever he's wearing. I call him the white Lil Wayne. That's basically his style.

I have one pair of sneakers, a few pairs of dress shoes, one pair of Lugz boots and a pair of flip flops. I just don't get the sneaker fetish thing.

Any of you guys like this?

I have at best 3 pairs of shoes I wear weekly. Two dress shoes (black and brown) and a pair of cross training gym sneakers.

I don't use any of my other shoes for the most part.

Gender stereotypes aside, unless the guy is an avid collector of vintage shoes and the like, there is no reason for him to have 100s of pairs of sneakers.

To each his own obsession.

Ryan Lochte has a big shoe collection. That was on some stupid news feature last year during the Olympics.

IMO if you have too many shoes you won't get to enjoy them in their "prime". Sneakers feel the best after being worn a lot and when they are just about to fall apart.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

To each his own. My shoe game is weak. Maybe $1200 worth. About $1500 in Thai made custom suits and maybe$2500 in regular clothes.

Can I look down on somebody who lives with their mom, never been outside the country or outside their state but has 30K in sneakers? To each his own.

The cycle of disrespect can start with just an appetizer.

A big sneaker collection is a sign of arrested development-those are boys shoes

I have 40+ pairs of shoes- ankle boots, work boots, loafers, lace up dress, monk straps, a few sneakers, etc

I'll probably stop at around 100

That might be an interesting reality show - obviously the drug selling might not go well with the cops. But I gotta imagine some random funny shit happens in his life.

It would have the train wreck appeal like Honey Boo Boo I guess... I really dont care much for the guy an stopped going to my friends house were he started hanging out... It all seems comical to me that on top of the way he acted an shit that he was a Albino.

Is it gay?

Not enough information to be able to answer this question..

We need to know...

Does he bang dudes or chicks???

If he bangs dudes, not sure why you are hanging with him???

If he bangs chicks, then you have your answer.

I've been into sneakers since I was a little kid. I've had a fairly large amount of sneakers over the years. I never considered them a collection, I actually wore them all. But ever since sneaker collecting has become mainstream I don't think it's cool anymore. Sure I still love sneakers and buy what I like, But it's ruined now. Back in the day I was always the only one with certain kicks, now every idiot walking down the street is rocking the same shit...posting pics on Instagram, etc.

Same thing with house music. I've been into house music since I was a little kid, and got made fun of for it my whole life, now the whole EDM thing happened and everyone is riding it

You know, lately whenever I read or see something and I start hating on it, I stop myself and ask: why am I hating? There was someone on my FB feed that entered a mini-triathlon. I started to hate, but it's stupid. Because she's doing something I'm not interested in? Maybe I'm just jealous. Who knows. We must be vigilant in hating.

My first instinct with this dude was to hate, but really, why? Simply because he's into sneakers? That's his interest, and it appears to make him happy, it's not hurting anyone, so why not. Is it any less legitimate than collecting coins or stamps or cars? I'm not really into collecting anything, with the possible exception of Soviet-era metal food containers (don't ask), but others seem to enjoy it.

I don't have specific collections, but I love to buy new shoes and clothes. Some gentlemen have methods they use to get into "the game," when they're out and about, and mine is presenting myself in the best possible manner.

Before I was into game, and before I was into getting laid, I was into buying video games, game consoles and movies. I've just shifted my interest into looking as good as I can and I appreciate having a nice assortment of sneakers/dress shoes to choose from when going out, that, and nice cigars.

I consider both to be things that don't really turn into collections since I treat sneakers/clothes and cigars all as consumables. I will eventually stain my outfit, or ruin my shoes and smoke my nice cigars, waste of money? Maybe, but as I've grown older I've cared more about experiences and presentation of myself as a person then accumulating things that will not matter when I'm dead; and to think, when I'm dead I'll smell like fine cigars and look classy as fuck.

A humble gentleman's blog about pussy, cigars, and game.

Shoes are bad for your feet, and eventually will eff up your knees, too. The funny thing is, you're better off rocking a $10 pair of slippers or Flip-flops.

On the other hand, for alot of young dudes (especially in NYC), their shoes ARE their car. Since your shoes are 1st thing people notice about you, so I can see understand spending a couple hundred on a nice Pair.

Let me get this straight...guys preach the importance of looking and dressing well but are hating on arguably the most important style item out there?

I've grown out of sneakers but shoes provide the best bang for your buck when it comes to clothing. They can be worn more often, last longer, and make a bigger statement than most clothing. They are one of the first things women notice and leave a big impression.

I used to wear baggy clothes in high school. Now I prefer a slim fit. My chest and legs are also bigger. Yet I still wear the exact same shoe size and have some kicks that are 5+ years old that I still wear.

Like I said, I've grown out of sneakers but the guy in the OP can buy some Levi's and some vnecks and go out every day for months and get noticed simply because of his shoes.

I personally think it is a ridiculous idea to collect shoes but as Menace said; he seems to enjoy it and does not hurt anyone so what is the problem?

I just think people should put value to more important stuff(personal goals and dreams IMO) rather than collecting stamps, shoes or whatever trend they have decided to follow. In a sense, this thread is well connected to the thread about not having ambitions and it is actually quite unfortunate since the possibilities today are endless for the creative ones.
