I stayed at Hotel Maya Bric two nights when I was in Playa in March. Had no issue bringing a girl back either night. It wasn't a super nice spot, but not bad at all. And only like $50 a night.

I think this could also be case by case. Maybe the security/front desk that night is a dick, or maybe they're cool.

Easy solution: Whenever you book a room, book it for 2 people (same price anyways) and if the staff questions where the other person is when you're checking in say your girlfriend/fiance had to catch a later flight, is out shopping or whatever, and will be joining you later.

Here are my thoughts:

1. This place has amazing logistics, excellent volume and ratios, endless nightlife options, and surprisingly good talent.
2. Competition is minimal. (What else is new?)
3. I'm going to go against the rest of the group and say that Mandala is not a good choice, nor is La Vaquita. The music in those places is way too loud and I really didn't see a lot of targets.
4. Hotels should be avoided. If at all possible, rent an apartment. Two nights ago (after the first time), I got completely cockblocked by hotel security. They wouldn't even let me in that time. I thought about just using a bed at Mamitas like another forum member did, but that wouldn't have worked with that particular girl. We eventually had to find a hotel which would let us use a room for a few hours. It was kind of like the cabanas in the Dominican Republic. There is no reason in the world why I should have had to take it to that extreme.
5. G's recommendations of El Fogon and Sur were spot on. The tacos al pastor at El Fogon may be the best in the world. I tried to eat at least one meal there per day. Sur has excellent food, although it is pretty expensive. I ate there once by myself and once with a girl. I went there for drinks almost every night. I didn't try many other restaurants. I kind of just find a place I like and keep going there.
6. I wouldn't say that sex tourism is non-existent, but it is minimal. I think that works in our favor. If anybody is going to ruin this place, it will be us and not sex tourists. I really don't see RVF types ruining this place. Medellin is the only place I can think of where that happened, and there is even some debate as to whether it was us or the sex tourists who made Medellin worse.
7. Being American and fully fluent in Spanish seriously helps with American girls who visit there. From the media and their idiot friends, they think there is a good chance they will be robbed immediately after entering Mexico. A guy who is one of their own who can speak the language and knows the culture makes them feel secure and they gravitate to him.
8. The Americans in Playa del Carmen are overall pretty quality people. I didn't really see many fat, loud, sloppy Americans. There was also a disproportionate number of RVF types. The one night I went to Santanera, the place was crawling with them. It was also crawling with Argentine girls. When you think about it, that's pretty mutually beneficial. At this point, I'm convinced that the problem lies in the D.C. area and in a few other U.S. shitholes and not in the United States as a whole. With the exception of the D.C. area, I see quality Americans in every single place I have lived or visited in the United States and Latin America.
9. The town is full of Argentines, both tourists and people living there. I heard more Argentine accents than Mexican.
10. Qwest's recommendation of Evolve Gym was a good one. I paid about $20.00 for a week. On the top floor, there is a small boxing ring, two heavy bags, a speed bag. If you don't bring your own gloves, the gym has a set. They are kind of like the Luis Resto gloves with much of the padding removed, though. The downsides are that the place is like a sauna, the machines are frequently not working, and they are closed on Sunday.
11. Stripclubs are weak, but there is an angle you can work. I spent an hour or so in Chilly Willy's my first night there. I was, of course, constantly bothered to pay for lap dances and/or sex and the girls there wouldn't even give me their numbers. I did talk to quite a few of the girls, however. A few days later two of the girls were on their night off, saw me in a club, and basically stared sexually assaulting me. The people who were around me did not know those girls were strippers and did not know that they already knew me.
12. Almirante Pech has a decent set-up, but I didn't really see any talent there. Also, I don't recommend eating there. I tried it once and it really wasn't any good.
13. The Mexican tourists and Mexicans living and working there are from all over Mexico. Not one particular city seems to dominate. Acapulco is different in that due to its relatively close proximity to D.F., the place is overrun with chilango tourists. This works in our favor and I'll explain why. In the higher end Acapulco discos, most of the people are from D.F. and many know each other. There is all kind of social circle stuff going on and it's not always easy to meet girls when you are not part of the social circle and even more difficult if you are not Mexican. In Playa, nobody really cares. Since everyone is from a different city, girls there are much more open to meeting foreigners and it is therefore a much better overall climate (not the weather).

I've been traveling all over the place over the past couple months and have tons of info to share on various places but just haven't had time to write it all up...this one is hot off the press as it has been a whirlwind couple days so far.

They are cheap as fuck and I make fun of them for it as they are grinding everyone from bouncers to bartenders for anything they can. Amusing to watch and be a part of to be honest. Being solo doesn't usually drag on me, but it kinda was that night so having them come out was a breath of fresh air as they are fun, loose, and are basically running game on everyone in sight for drinks, free entrance, etc, and I was also rapping to other girls a bit the night before, so I say fuck it, come on.

We go to Blue Parrot (pretty wack and kinda empty) some other small bar/club close by, which had free drinks for girls and they are handing drinks off to me and we are laughing and having fun. I haven't been but may also be going this year. Everyone has told me that it is a great time to go. I think that all of the Latin American vacation destinations are hot then, Playa included. Should be tons of hot young trim from Mexico and other places!

I just got back from a seven-day trip. After I got there, I ended up having to deal with some family and personal issues, so I only went out four nights, didn't drink much, and didn't do much daygame. The good thing is that I spent a fraction of what I usually spend when I travel.

Here are some of my thoughts:

1. There were far fewer Argentines this time. When I went in both January and April, the town was full of them. The rumor is that many of them are being deported. I don't know how true that is. People also tell me that there will be many more of them in January and February.

2. The town was really quiet on the 23, 24, and even the 25. It then became much more busy. It was pretty packed last night. I think many more people go there for new year's than for Christmas. If you have the choice between the two, go for new year's.

3. I agree with the poster who said that it's better to go after the girls who live there than the girls who are there on vacation. All my notches so far have been with girls who live there. Although they live there, they are from other parts of Mexico.

4. I have a strategy which I came up with halfway through this trip and it may be the best idea I've ever had. I'm more than willing to P.M. the details of it to established members, but I don't want to post it. I'm the only one who does this and there is a too much of a chance that me posting it will lead back to me. It something that seems very easy and blatantly obvious, yet no one else does it.

5. There is a new place, called Salsanera, which I believe is owned by Santanera. The music is about 75% salsa. I kind of like the set-up and vibe of the place, but I didn't really see any talent there and basically walked in and walked out twice.

6. Oxxo, and probably most other stores, stop selling alcohol at 1:00 A.M. or something and resume at 10:00 A.M. I went there with a girl one time after the clubs closed and they wouldn't sell us liquor (poor preparation on my part for not buying it beforehand). It really didn't affect anything. After we left Oxxo, she walked to my apartment with me and got naked as soon as we got inside.

7. Thankfully, this only happens in Playa del Carmen, but as far as I've seen, but if you are not Mexican, speaking Spanish hurts. Yes, you read that right. If you are Mexican, your best bet is a strong social circle when you are in Playa. The top of the totem pole there are Mexican guys with a strong social circle and foreigners who don't speak the language. Everywhere else in the Latin America and in the United States, Spanish is a huge plus. This is the reason for many of my rejections there. Girls would give me indications of interest, I would then approach, then as soon as I started talking, they would be turned off. I knew the problem wasn't me, because that stuff doesn't happen, let alone constantly, in other cities and countries. I could be off-base on this, but I really don't think so.

8. There was a place that I think other posters have posted about called Pura Vida. It was generally busy and there were always tons of Argentines there. The place is now closed. I don't know if it is permanent or temporary.

9. El Fogon is hands down the best place for tacos. I also tried Don Sirloin this time. It was good, but El Fogon is clearly better.

My thread notifications stopped working so I have lost track of the forum a bit the last 6 months unfortunately.

Heading back to Playa this Friday during BPM (don't really give a fuck about the music but it will bring talent) and will be there till Tuesday. Quick hitting and going hard in the paint while I am there.

Have one of my previous chicks down there who I sense will try to tie me down one night, but I'm OK with it as she is cool, hot and it will give me a night without enough alcohol to kill a baby hippo.

Reports of carnage in the Mexican Riviera will be coming.

I still laugh about the story about Qwest and the 80's porn star guy in Fells Point/Canton. I'm having lunch in that area as I'm writing this and the closest thing to an 80's porn star right now is me.

I caught the tail end of BPM last year and the talent was better than it was when I was just there. The family issue which I had really messed things up for me on this most recent trip. I'm also convinced that being a non-Mexican guy who speaks perfect Spanish seriously hurts me in Playa. Everywhere else on planet Earth, it is a huge help. Playa is a bit of a bizarro world in that sense.

I will when I get to a computer and it took me three Playa trips to figure it out. I'm not complaining and I do fine in Playa, although many other Latin American and U.S. cities are a little easier for me.

I'll start with this:
Acapulco totem pole as far as getting girls:
1. Mexican (mostly D.F.) guys with a strong social circle.
2. Mexican guys who have their shit together.
3. Foreign guys who speak Spanish and have their shit together.
4. Everyone else.

Playa del Carmen totem pole:
1. Mexican guys with a strong social circle.
2. Foreign guys who don't speak Spanish (this is arguably a tie with number 1).
3. Everyone else.

There are plenty of quality girls in Playa del Carmen, although the top women in Mexico generally don't go there. You will see some of the top women in Mexico in Acapulco. Acapulco's best beats Playa del Carmen's best every day. I'm referring to tourists here. Acapulco locals aren't that great and have gotten worse in the past ten or fifteen years.

What happens in Playa del Carmen is that many girls go there to get their whatever (Canadian, European, American) flag. The city is generally far from their hometowns (D.F., Guadalajara, Monterrey), so there is less of a social stigma associated with doing such a thing. Acapulco is a different story, because the city is not too far from D.F., most of the girls are from D.F., and there is a strong social circle thing going on in the discos and other venues there. I see far more foreigners with Mexican girls in Playa than I do anywhere else in the world. These are generally stereotypical foreigners, who don't speak the language. Many of these girls are physically attracted to me, but once I start talking, they realize that I'm not at all a stereotypical foreigner and often (not always) lose interest. That idea of getting some kind of flag is often ruined after I start talking to them. This is, of course, a generalization and I have met many girls there who have been receptive to me. This goes back to my earlier comment that in my experience, it is better to go after the girls who live and work there than the tourists. Girls who live and work there, although many would like to meet foreign guys, are obviously not there just to get a flag of some sort. I could, of course, pretend that I don't speak Spanish, but I think it would come off as being really unnatural and I would be leaving my nose open to a lot of other potential problems, pretty much everything except for getting girls.

We have guys here who do well in many cities around the world, but struggle like hell in Miami. I think the Miami struggles are mostly due to lack of Spanish ability and lack of understanding of the culture. I really think those guys would kill it in Playa, because as ridiculous as it may sound, some of the same qualities, the lack of which could screw you in Miami, could help you in Playa. As I said before, I could be off-base on this one, but I don't think so.

I would count for two flags for a Mexican girl. Possibly 3. I'm not sure how I feel about being used as a piece of meat though. Interesting intel about being foreign + no Spanish; I always feel no Spanish is major barrier in Mexico, but maybe not huge issue with middle-class girls who presumably have some English.

Everywhere I have been to or heard about in Mexico except Playa, no Spanish is a major barrier. If a guy doesn't speak the language and wants a Mexican flag, he should make a beeline for Playa. As I said, it is a bit of a bizarro world.

I'm thinking about going to playa(jan 16-18) as it will be MLK holiday in the states so an extra day off from school. Any of you players going to be around during that time?
As far as the barrier, I must be an anomaly as I don't speak a lot of spanish and it's never really been a block for me. In fact my last GF(7) spoke only spanish and no english. Stopped her randomly on the street.
