Gaming backpacker girls

I am in Colombia and went to a "party hostel" today for a drink with a hot, middle class Colombian woman. The place was thick with thirsty dudes along with a few mediocre girls. I have never understood why someone would go to another country and try to hook up with mediocre N American/ W. Euro women.

The rewards of meeting local women far out weigh the little bit of work involved. And I'm talking about rewards that go way beyond anything sexual. My Colombian "friend" took me on tour that included places (like a really nice indoor food market) that I never would have seen following a tour book or other gringos.

Backpacker game:

1) like shooting fish in a barrel (have a private dorm)
2) Very unhygienic (double wrap)

All the guys on this forum hate on the backpacker girls but I swear we are talking about different people. So to that point:

Just check out some of the top posts from these hostels, all in the Greek islands, but spots I know well. There are some really attractive girls, maybe not 9s-10s for some of the experienced guys on the forum, but I don't think too many guys would be turning down some of those girls. Depending on where you are there will be more or less of them, but they are always around.

I definitely see the advantage to local girls and that's initially what I go for and try to keep in the mix. But if my type is tall skinny and blonde with blue eyes and I'm in Colombia, it'll be a mission to find without looking at foreigners.

Completely on board with you here.
This is 4 years old and still accurate. Most guys are going for the previously above mentioned unhygienic girls that are doing body shots and flashing their tits. Meanwhile the cute innocent one in the corner that "isn't normally that girl" is down to be that girl because she's on a vacation and doesn't have her reputation to keep up because none of her friends will know. But luckily most backpacker guys think with their dicks and when they see boobs they run too it like flies on shit.

How would you guys game if you were in a city just for a weekend staying in a backpackers and rolling solo. There seem to be 3 options.

1. Hit up the backpacker bars - Ratios are often bad and not favourable for rolling solo
2. Daygame - Good option IF there are bored targets around
3. Mingle inside Backpackers - How do you escalate this option? I find opening large groups means you got to compete with thirsty guys and bad ratios. 2 or 3 sets with all girls is good but it is challenging without wingmen.

As the time period is short, how would you guys optimize your stay in terms of game from the moment you touch down?

Cheers
Backpacker bars are good. Party hostels if they have a public bar. Free walking tours or pub crawls. Tinder or couchsurfing hangouts.. ratios might be shitty but the "thirsty guys" aren't too difficult of competition.

The problem with the thirsty guys is that they cockblock themselves and other guys with game. A few of them come together and they start thinking all the girls are theirs especially the party girls. Sometimes quiet hostels might be better where more solo targets or 2 sets can be found in addition to some peace. This prevents girls from gravitating towards these boisterous crowds and thus favour guys who dont use cavemen style from the get go.

Pubcrawls as a way to pull is a very controversial because more and more backpacker girls today are finding it very sleazy and its hugely dependent on your social circle in the hostel but more opinions on this are welcome. Good point about walking tours.

I haven't really experienced the sleaziness on pub crawls your are referring too. There are 2 types of pub crawls- ones that originate at hostels, and ones that are run by the same groups that do free walking tours in cities. Sometimes there are combined ones, where walking tour people and hostel people get a discount on the same one. Social circle's are not important, being social is. You should try to meet everyone on the pub crawl while every one is waiting for it to start at the meetup point. 1st bar do some flirting with the cute ones. 2nd bar go for the kiss. 3rd bar pull home, don't wait for the club or your chances of pulling will decrease. This will leave you a step ahead of the other guys, because they won't start making moves until the 1st bar and everything gets pushed back by a bar.

Good tip, it always pays to be social early. What I have seen is that sometimes girls who are not receptive during the day become better at night when they start drinking in the hostel. If that hostel does not have the bar crawls, then its better to start chatting up targets from dinnertime onwards then grab some drinks from the hostel bar and then merge with other sets who are drinking. In most cases, its a case of last man standing if you are drinking in the hostel itself because the girls who want action that night are going to make it obvious. And lastly, do not stay in a hostel which has quiet hours after 10 or 11 if you are staying in quiet towns or hostels with none of the bar crawls.

Something tells me this thread and the "Abnormal Pussy Smell" threads are going to have a lot of overlap.

To each their own. I prefer to date women who take showers. I once worked with a backpacker girl who for 8 months only traveled with two pairs of socks.

Never really had any luck with hostel girls. I like hostels because I can socialize at the bar/crawl etc but then I usually break from the group later in the night and hit on locals.

I have better results this way.

Most of the posts above hint at sit down with a group, have a beer, try to be the last man standing but most of the times, the girls retire earlier than the guys. Also, if you got something planned the next morning you don't want to try to be the lat man standing. In that case, have any of you tried asking her to 'come up to my room for some music/drinks?' while the group is getting smaller but not completely done yet? How have the girls replied?

Although having your own room is preferable, it can be quiet costly in Aus, NZ and europe especially if you are travelling for long periods of time and dorms can be cost effective. In that case how does the game differ when it comes to isolation and escalation to the dorm? Your dorm or hers? Anything that can be done to keep make her more comfortable?

Backpacker game varies massively depending on the country you're in, the hostel you're at and your particular strengths.

I actually love backpacker game because of how many variants there are to it, it's the ultimate testing ground for flexibility and pivot skills. You can't have one dimensional game and hope to survive in the backpacker environment. I can also understand why it's not popular here because backpacking removes a couple of huge elements this forum preaches, namely how you dress and your financial success. Those two particular pillars of game go out the window and will even work against you in a lot of hostel/backpacker crowds.

As for some advice...

1. If you're a strong drinker with staying power then hostels with pools are golden. Join the pool games but don't drink at this time, let the majority of the other guys zap themselves, it's rare that someone can drink all day in a pool in the sun and then still go all night without getting sloppy. If this is a strength of yours then you'll have half the competition remove themselves from the equation. From here it's just standard drinking games into where ever it kicks on, ideally there is a walk to the club where you can isolate the primary target and perhaps even avoid the club altogether. I've had great success with this tactic where you divert from the club to get a burger or whatever and then head back and avoid the club altogether where nothing good is likely to happen. Alternatively if you're staying somewhere for a while with only a few clubs, make friends at the clubs. I've had a couple of places where I could order from 5 deep, would greet the owners and get a free drink on the way in, in backpacker world this is right up there on the SMV scales.

2. More general but have the logistics on point. If money isn't an issue, private room. Not just a logistic win but you'll cherish the sleep and having somewhere to retreat to. If you can't afford private, then spend to get one with a bathroom at least, I've had many a girl who is willing to do the bathroom in a dorm thing but not the dorm thing. If you can find a cheap one night hotel near the hostel then this is also an option to just pay when you need but if you're having as much success as you should this ends up more expensive.

3. Dorm sex... it's possible, it's a pain in the ass. Step one to success here is let the girl pick the dorm, yours or hers, hers is preferable because you can retreat once it's done and there is a decent chance of anonymity, if it's yours, make sure you know the people in the dorm are either cool with it or aren't there. Nothing cock blocks quite like someone calling security. Again, if you've got an ensuite room that's a better option. Really though, avoid this if you can. If it's your dorm then you'll get a rep real quick.

4. Travel paths... This is a big logistical issue. Identify which way a girl is traveling, most backpacker locations have 1-3 paths in/out. You don't want to sleep with a girl only to bump into her at every hostel for the next 2 months because she's on the same path, the ideal move is to only game the girls going the other direction. There are several benefits to this... first is obviously the bump into factor, the second is you can use your knowledge of where she is going next as a genuine "interest" factor in the conversation, you sound cool and teach her stuff, displaying value. Third you can do the reverse, let her talk about her awesome adventures in the guise of "wanting to know what to do in next stop", girls love talking about themselves and it's at least got value to you when she does. The amount of rookie backpackers I see fail this step is scary, they end up with either an unwanted travel girlfriend or an active cockblocker following them.

5. Working at the hostels... This is always an option and is a bigtime backpacker SMV if you've got the right jobs. Bartender has the usual bartender access, anyone who has ever worked at a decent bar knows the power here. Being a host is even more powerful because you've got the same power as a bartender with mobility. Being the manager can have the perks of a private room, real pay but it's harder to party full time and there is responsibility. Bigtime SMV though.

6. Drinking games... Learn them, they're powerful and being the guy who gets the party started is another massive SMV at a hostel. Kings Cup/Ring of Fire/whatever you call it is one, have the rules on your phone but be adaptive if someone wants their own rule put in or a change, you might learn a great new rule to use in the future or you just placate someone who could cause issues or if it's a girl, get bonus points from her. Never Ever is always a key part of this game and is one you should have prepped if you want to work it, you want to have Never Evers that do one of two things... a) Make you look great, display sexual value (this one is harder than it seems because you also don't want to be a creep/slut/whatever) or b) gain valuable information on your targets (who should always be convinced to play of course), find out if they have a boyfriend or if they've cheated on him if they've got one, girls who've had sex already in the country (this is win/win, you either find an easy target or an in to the harder target). There is also some potential sabotage potential here of others. Be willing to lie if you think it helps, ie if you've had an STD and it comes up, maybe lie that you haven't unless someone at the table knows about it. These games are a central part of bonding and getting to know people at hostels, being good at them is a massive asset.

7. Be in shape... this works everywhere but the backpacker crowd is generally in better shape than most crowds. It's a physically active, healthy eating and sun-kissed group with the added bonus of generally being young. Bigger can be a real asset in this crowd as it's generally the lean athletic look rather than the bigger and stronger look, so you'll be more unique. Fat doesn't help and pathetically skinny doesn't help either.

8. Networking is massive. This gets back to the paths in point 4 thing as well but people are going to meet people you've met, having FB friends that are mutuals can be a disarming move. Don't by shy of making friends with the girls you have no interest in or as many guys as possible. Having a friend who will fall on a grenade is very useful because girls generally travel in groups of 2-3, big groups happen and solo happen but they're rarer and another type of target. Expect to be dealing with a friend 24/7 on any target and having her on-side is a massive bonus. Remember that it's likely you will see the girl the next day and her friend. Perhaps even more important is to make friends with the 4+ groups of guys, they'll almost always all be single, all be on the prowl and all be competing with each other which makes them more aggressive. If you fail to befriend these groups, you're the enemy of all 4. Befriend them and they'll compete with each other to help you out as well. It's a weird dynamic but it's vitally important if you want regular success, imo.

9. Know the Country... This probably seems obvious but the amount of guys I meet who know nothing about the country they're in is crazy, especially because girls generally pick a country because they're genuinely interested in it. Just another area you can display value over the crowds. If you know more than a few it's even better, especially somewhere that can really get across your passion for travel, this is the thing that will attract every girl, they all have it so being able to display that you travel because you love traveling is a great bond you can form with basically any backpacker girl.

There is plenty more to it but the above is a good starter. Backpacking can be a great way to meet girls from lots of different countries without having to travel quite as thoroughly. It's not everyone's cup of tea for sure and the hygiene levels on some of the girls can be a bit off putting but there are some absolute gems to be had as well.

Great post, this is a good summary of socializing in the backpacking community.

Pools in hostels - I havent seen that much action in some of them, definitely not with alcohol. Most of the time, they are filled with debris but when it is fine to swim in, very few people are actually there. Often, its the couples who are having breakfast while having a swim. Having said, that, this can be an opportunity to invite girls to dip in but in places where there are a lot of beaches, this might not work.

Yes, private room is really the best way to go. One way to save money while having a private room is to reduce the time spent in a city compensating for the cost (thus increasing the pressure on you to socialize) but the bottom line is one still has to pay more. I agree with the previous post that dorm sex is not as common as people think. Normally, its between couples or after binge drinking, people fumbling in the dark waking everybody up. But you might get lucky if the girl has a private room. Not sure if her dorm is a good idea though, all the other people in her dorm would know its her but if its yours, she can retreat early without people noticing her.

About gaming girls on different backpacker routes, it actually might be better if a group of girls tags along with you. It can increase your value and widen your network at the new venues, unless she is really into you. I guess it also depends on the guy to keep it chill and make sure it does not develop into kind of a relationship. It might be even better if you don't bang any of those girls but just hang out together while you are in the same route. I find girls can be friendly and include you in their plans if you genuinely are interested in checking things out but you got to keep your frame and preferably have some friends of your own in that group as well.

Curiously enough I don't actually see the guys working at the backpackers hang out with the new backpackers plus they got to get up early to do the cleaning or open up reception so they can't do the drinking thing, they usually hang out with the other long term workers so it can defeat the purpose. But I agree those bartenders are in the best position, ie. if they can still meet up after his shift and he can hold her attention despite the other male customers who can actually hit on her with more latitude. Which brings me to the next point, having a hostel with a bar means that drinking games might not be possible if you cant bring your own alcohol. One has to run standard bar game. These hostel bars close pretty early so preplanning for venue change is essential and this is where hostel location becomes important as most of the backpacking girls are not willing to spend money for a cab.

Good point about getting into shape if you are going on a long backpacking trip. However, if you are not, it might be a better idea to go solo. Normally, the buff guys are also quite good at approaching as well so it can be tough to roll with them for the purpose of meeting girls. These guys usually, attract the girls who are obviously out to have fun and have a party. But, what is not mentioned much is that there is a sizable group of girls who do not partake in this loud drunken fest (usually with skewed ratios), they are usually in pairs and have tight schedules to visit places, they do not lounge around all day with these guys drinking, they are out in the morning and come back just to make dinner and sleep. It might be worth approaching these girls to see if you guys can hang out together. Although they might not be up to party, they might be fine for a quiet drink in a bar if they are into you and you guys have done quite some touristy things together. There is no need to isolate, because isolation is almost done. If she is with a friend, you might want to introduce the friend to some other friends you met.

Also, it is better to backpack with friend(s) who have similar goals to you. It can be tough meeting like minded guys on the road. Some guys will always want to be alone, on their headphones and not drink. They will talk about girls but will have little in the way of action. On the other hand, the fun guys usually roll with a tight group of friends and they are always going to look out for them first. I think girls are better in that respect, they make real friends while travelling and try their best to adjust their plans so that they can be together. Cosign the above poster's comment that most girls travel because they really want to travel.

Finally, pubcrawls/clubbing will not be fruitful. Mostly, a waste of money and time unless you have a target pretty locked in, in which case there is also no point heading out. Also, most backpacking girls are not interested in the clubs due to lack of money and early mornings leading to very skewed ratios. However, quieter backpacker bars might be more productive.

Those are not exactly typical backpacker hostels. Those are for wanna-be party people, snowflakes that would never stay there if they had money for a proper hotel. In any of those places the ratios would be 2:1 if not worse.

Hostels are generally terrible for pick-up. There are a few reasons for that:

1. Quality is low: beautiful girls that invest a lot of time in their appearance don't stay in hostels. They don't travel alone and they take short trips splitting the costs with their family, friends or boyfriends. Hostels generally attract a type of girl who doesn't care so much about her looks and can deal with all the bullshit that happens in a hostel: noisy sleepless nights, bad smells, disgusting bathrooms etc. There is the occasional natural beauty but they are rare and if you find one then you have to deal with other issues.
2. Terrible logistics and lack of privacy: it's very hard to plan for sex in a hostel. Single rooms cost as much as a hotel so why bother ? Not all hostels have single rooms btw and if it's a popular location then they are the first ones to go, usually taken by couples.
3. Seasonality: in Europe most hostels are dead in winter time.
4. Lack of a proper common area: in general the better the wifi in the rooms, the higher chances people will just stay in their beds [Image: smile.gif] . I guess you can try booking the ones that have bad reviews regarding the wifi signal, good luck with that.
5. Short encounters: most backpackers don't stay long in the same place so you may meet a girl on her last night who is willing to bang but won't have a proper place to do so.
6. Horrible ratios: in any given hostels there are more guys than girls. Nowadays, a lot of places have women/men only dorms so you might actually end up in a dorm full of dudes.

I could go on and on, the point is gaming backpacker girls doesn't yield good ROI.

This post actually made me think of something else that I left off above...

Hostel research: Read the reviews like you're female. Look for "great bathrooms", "super clean", "quiet and comfortable dorms" and "very safe and secure" among other obvious things. This is how you maximise ratio and the quality of girls. It doesn't always work, sometimes the party hostel will still trump everything, but it's a good start and if there are two party hostels to pick from, this is your tiebreaker.

Also pick the brains of girls on the opposite path to you, where did they stay and why, listen to the answer and you'll find a lot of the hostels you'll stay at.

Reading your post I'd hazard to guess that you've done Europe, I find that points 1 and 6 are both very much western country issues. Asia and most of LA have excellent ratios and excellent quality of girls. Basically you want the adventure crowd of girls who are in great shape and active and not the "art and foodie" type that Europe attracts. Kind of like going to a museum or a beach to pickup in your hometown. On top of that the groups of 2-3 tend to get an apartment and cook to save money in Europe and perhaps the biggest factor, the majority of European girls aren't traveling in Europe. There are some exceptions in Europe but it generally holds up.

Backpacking Europe is just a very different experience to LA/SEA, imo. I actually wouldn't backpack Europe unless you were a solo guy needing to save every last dollar and I wouldn't do LA/SEA any other way that hostel unless you were going there specifically for women (something I've never done or expect to do) and specifically for local women in which case apartment/logistics/pipeline is everything. If I want to travel the country though, backpacking is my go to and having strong backpacker game is a massive asset in this scenario.

Last time I was in a backpackers I was 46 and solo.I had my own room.I got a 24 year old chick back to my room but couldn't close. That was in Prague 2017.But the Hostel advertised as a hotel on the app I was using.I did not know it was a hostel.

There is a backpacker niche for the older guy and it's not by wearing suits. You need to be masculine and a point of difference. The minute you start thinking I shouldn't be here that's when it goes to shit. Its usually with chicks who have jobs not the uni types.Although I did score a Danish bird when I was 44 but she was into what I did for a living. But these chicks were into masculinity not the loud party type dudes. The shit test come in hard too. It's tougher solo.
I have a mate who backpacked with me 20 years ago and we meet in backpacker bars.We tell everyone how we met and it's been like 20 years. They usually love our stories and I have got play once out of it.That was not the mission though. But I am a veteran of that community .I would love to work around these people or have some kind of business around it.I love the positive traveler vibe.

There are late 20s and early 30's women looking for a rogue type.A slight display of wealth helps like your watch I found. My Omega seems to get noticed by the German Dutch, Scandi ones.I had a Finnish girl approach who thought I was 35 she was into older dudes. This was all in Melbourne.

A English girl wanted to know why I wasn't staying at a hotel. The hotels were $200 and the backpacker room $80.
You have to have the vibe or you will be alone. As a rule now I just Airbnb in Europe. In Oz I will get a Room by myself unless i get a deal on an app.

There is a lack of masculinity in hostels now is all I can say.I was talking to a Sth African dude that runs a cafe in Brisbane .He deals with a ton of backpackers. He was my age and traveled Europe the same years as me.He was saying that he had to deal with a lot of depressed lonely backpackers now.He said he saw a lot of mental breakdowns. The kids now can not communicate he said or didn't know how to come out of their shells. They spent all their time on wifi on their phones etc and it's like they never left home.

Female travelers by themselves are looking for adventure how do you think most daygamers get laid??

1. Fairly true, but there are typically a few that do the hostel route. Those are the top backpacker hostels in each of their respective locations so pretty hard to make your argument they aren't typical backpack hostels. I've stayed at 100+ hostels in my life so I think I would have a good idea.

2. Why book a private? Because then you are exposed to a whole crowd of backpackers yet have a private room like a hotel. Also, it's typically a bit cheaper than a hotel. Book in advance.

3. Kind of a ridiculous point. Most cities are quiet in the European winter. Thankfully, most hostels in South America are busy in the European winter.

4. Book smart. If you book shitty hostels they you deserve shitty results. If you book social party hostels with 24 hour common rooms then expect to do better.

5.

Have a place to bang, simple enough.

6. Have better game than the other guys, simple enough.

Valid points by Green.
From the replies above, I wonder if the backpacker community has changed from what it was from maybe 10years ago. Or it is maybe region specific. Because backpacking in europe might be very different from South america which is different from Australia. There also seems to be undue hype on hooking up which just doesn't happen. Knowing someone banging in the dorm does not mean it is a hookup, it could be a couple.

From what I have seen, the general female backpacker population are not really into the hookup aspects of backpacking anymore especially at those quiet backpackers hostels. Infact they want to have a good night's rest and have quiet meals with the friends that they arrive with. Quite a number also come with partners. If she is interested, some kind of comfort building over the course of a few days (doing the same touristy things and (which is hard given everybody has their own plans) shopping together etc.) have to take place because most of the times, girls flat out refuse to even go for a drink in the evenings citing money or plans for next morning or even come up to a guy's room for a drink on the same day they met. Most girls also actively seek out quieter hostels to the party ones which is usually not as hygenic too. It is hard to imagine any socializing taking place when most people are out in the day and want to just go to bed when they are back. Remember that most of these backpackers are near broke so they want to see everything they can and leave for the next place ASAP and during those times they don't have things to do, they are at their beds using the wifi only coming to the kitchen to cook. That is the only window of opportunity to approach. While the lone girl might wish for some romance, I think she already has a prince in mind, and given her hectic schedule of doing things alone, she is only going to give IOIs and her time to the guy who fits that image. Most of the backpackers don't even turn up for those social events held in the hostels like those free dinners or movie night. But it is true that if you got game, you stand a higher chance at those quiet hostels because no one else will be approaching. Most of the guys with game will be at the party hostels competing.

Those party hostels might be the worst ripoffs when backpacking. They have the worst ratios with tons of competition. Infact there have been instances when the organizers have to cancel those pubcrawls because very few were interested though this happens more in australia. I do agree that more girls are really into visiting new places than partying while it is the reverse for guys so automatically going out at night puts the guys at a disadvantage unless it's really cheap like in SEA. Party hostels are for guys who are already coming with friends and can handle the competition and are more into lounging around in the mornings rather than getting out early and visit those hidden spots in the country.

Backpacker game is very location dependent. Like you wouldn't go to some staunch Muslim country and expect to have great success running bar game you shouldn't go to an expensive country and expect to have good success on backpacker game, you're basically handicapping yourself by trying to do it.

Europe, America and Australia are a vastly different scenario than Asia, Africa and Latin America when it comes to backpacker game and your results and experience will be shaped massively by which one you do. They also attract very different crowds. The cheaper locations that offer vastly different climate and experiences tend to attract far more younger and attractive crowds, the kind having the fun gap year rather than the grizzled veteran backpacker who budgets to the last cent.

In the first group, most backpackers will be struggling to get by, in the US and Australia they will often even be on working holidays to fund the trip. This completely changes the dynamic. On top of this the places are extremely regulated which makes the hostels incapable of providing the same experience as in the wild wild west of Latin America or Asia. A cheap drink in Australia will cost you $5, compared to say Vietnam where that will get you a strong cocktail in most places.

I've done Europe and outside of the Greek Islands and a few other party locations there is a vastly different atmosphere in Europe. Same goes for the US (though I haven't done much of it) and Australia. When a bed in a dorm costs you $50 compared to a private costing $15, a drink costs $5 instead of 0.25c and every excursion/tour is in the hundreds rather than the teens for cost you change the whole experience. Even the party hostels are a completely different vibe because of these realities. There's just a difference when people are going to see churches and museums as well in comparison to going to checkout perfect beaches, snorkeling in tropical waters and the like. The difference even in a place like Cambodia between Koh Rong and Siem Reap is noticeable in who goes there and stays there for extended periods.

I wouldn't really bother with backpacker game through Europe, Australia maybe as the working visa element has it a bit more loose but really backpacker game is about Asia, Latin America and Africa where there isn't such a "survival" aspect on the finances and it's more about having fun and an adventure and meeting people. The hostels are just better, the environments are more conducive to success and the girls are better in general as a result.

Gaming backpacker girls

Hehe backpacking game - was fun a few years ago.

Nowadays I have a hard time wanting wanting to even bang a kinda-chubby generic blonde chick from {insert english-speaking country} wearing some elephant print shorts and Birkenstocks. God damn, they all look like clones.

I usually try to pick out the girls that are on holiday vs the ones that are backpacking for extended periods of time, since they are usually 20 lbs lighter and at least dress up a bit when they go out.
IMO its better investment of your time on a more exotic traveler (solo asian travelers are my specialty) or a local chick - assuming you're not in saudi arabia or some other sex-conservative locale.

BUT - to actually answer your q:
- pub crawls are usually a goldmine, specially if rolling solo
- find the party hostel wherever you are
- this is easy, but always dress/look better/richer than your competition. Don't wear fucking beer tanktops
