If you needed Snowden to tell you the government was watching you....

Was there significant evidence before Snowden's leaks that the government was spying on the people so heavily? Down to siphoning essentially ALL internet traffic?

It's one thing to think the government may be spying on it's own citizens or overreaching their boundaries, it's another thing entirely to see blatant evidence of massive systematic overreach.

I use Snowden to test people.

What they think of him reveals their choice: do they like state power more, or individual freedom more?

It is something outside the usual left/right issues.

That's a lot like saying "If you needed photographs to tell you your girlfriend was a town bicycle..."

Probably most people had an inkling that the government were spying on us, just as most of us wouldn't believe the girls we meet are the virginal innocents they try to present themselves as.

But when someone presents you with a video of her with rods in every orifice, something changes.

It's like it's OK to assume she's a slut, as long as you're not given full disclosure.

It's like you're OK with the government spying on you, as long as you don't know exactly what they're looking for.

But now you know. You've stumbled upon her video on RedTube and you can't unsee that shit. You saw someone post a Guardian news article on Facebook and you can't un-know what your government is doing against you.

What do you do now?

What happened to this thread = http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/se...clnk&gl=us
?

It was created after Snowden associated himself with black life matters and social justice, I was very surprised about this basically.

Havent we killed an American without his right to a fair trail within the last year or so? If the feds really wanted him gone they would mark him as a terrorist then handle their business.

I am surprised CNN actually ran the interview. I wonder if it will become big news or go away. I choose the latter.

I dont think I have ever seen the head of NSA before. You always see CIA and homeland security. Sometimes the Fed but rarely NSA.

I think to actually deliberately off a us citizen you have to go way up high--hopefully to the President. Unless it is loose cannons like DEA guys trafficking drugs; who just do shit on their own hoping they won't get caught.

Unless the President specifically says someone is a problem and they don't want to know.

Especially this guy who I am convinced believed what he was doing was right, and that the NSA was stomping all over right to privacy.
I wouldn't want to be left holding the bag for an extrajudicial murder, or for such things to be done at all casually or lightly.

That right there is pretty much the entire premise of the tag a sponsor thread.

This is simply pathetic. His father should be ashamed for the he's been behaving. The stupidisation of the american population is truly a success in all aspect. How else would citizens of a free country tolerate their government, who they they have willingly voted for, have been slowly but surely eroding and taking away all their rights one by one to the point of turning the country into a police state and a society better than what Orwell foresaw 3 decades ago.

I read Orwell's biography, he basically sacrificed himself to write 1984, lived in a poorly heated house on a cold island while suffering from Tuberculosis, when he could have been hanging with the swells in London.

But Americans don't have a history of a Royally abusive past to remember; they mostly trust both the upper class (.01%) and the government to be halfway reasonable if rather crooked.

Generally political thugs don't just off famous dissidents, because that martyrs them and casts suspicion on the legitimacy of the authority of those political thugs. They always need a show trial first. This is why Snowden ran to a rival state. One president can't kidnap someone from another president's state. If he can't kidnap him he can't be put to a show trial.

I always thought this guy has a good moral compass. I don't think he is going into SJW territory. I will wait and see.

Here you go.

Can you please direct that at SJWs that uninvite speakers at universities because their views may be offensive to some?

And now Hollywood's making a movie...

This trailer looks horrible and so is Joseph Gordon-Levitt's accent not to mention he's a Bernie Bro Fem putz.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt must have allowed the entire Hollywood to fuck him in the ass, judging from all the big roles he's getting in spite of his awful acting performance.

Snowden hasn't posted on his twitter account since 28th June.

Did Putin stuff him into a box and hand him over to Trump while they met in Helsinki on 16th July ?

I think he was just politely notified by his hosts that he should refrain from stinking it up with his obnoxious leftist tweets around the summit.

When you are directly reliant on others. Than you're reliant on others.

Just like Assange was reliant on Ecuador, Snowden is reliant on Russia to play nice.
Yet I did recently read an article detailing how the Russian's may well have tired of their play thing & have little further need for him.
