Which do you think is the best city of Europe to live?

If you speak a little French and earn decent cash (>2500 EUR/mo net), Paris trumps most cities in EU. Its big, beautiful, interesting and comparable to NYC/London in terms of ethnic diversity (maybe even more).

Second and third tier cities in poland.

I'm surprised no one said Amsterdam.

You got to love the Dutch, for a year they were talking about banning the sale of weed to tourists. So of course, some gullible travellers thought it might go through and rushed to visit Amsterdam in the fall - traditionally slow season for Europe. Then like magic (wink, wink) someone crunched the numbers on how many billions of dollars would be passed up if they went through with the new laws and it's open season in 2013 again.

Anyways, Amsterdam is underrated. I think it has the hottest girls in western Europe on average, even better than Stockholm, London, Paris Barcelona, Lisbon or Berlin (places I've been to). And they are friendlier than the women in these other cities too.

It's not cheap, but not as expensive as say, London or Paris. Everyone knows English and it's widely expected that they will converse with you in English.

For those into it, legalize prostitution, soft drugs, liberal drinking rules.

I agree with that for western europe, but Im talking about whole europe and I rather pick soemwhere like second/third tier cities in poland or czech rather than anywhere else in western europe.

Living in countries like poland/czech you are at gates of other countries like russia, ukraine, belarus, lithuania, latvia, moldova, hungary, slovakia, etc.. all with hot/attractive women and cheaper prices than west.

How do other Dutch cities/town compare to Amsterdam? I am thinking about going to the Netherlands for a couple of months.

Haha yes.

The Netherlands is not a big country. The four biggest cities -Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag/The Hague and Utrecht are all close together.

For me Amsterdam is the best place to live. Students, tourists, big social circle, everything is there for me.

Utrecht is more a college town, with a big surplus of young girls. HOT young girls.

Groningen is even more a college town with even more young girls. Go to the center to places like The Three Sisters/De Drie Gezusters. Really good. The best time of the week to party is wednesday/thursday I think for students.

Fraternities and sororities are big in Groningen, but you can go to the places and pickup as well.

Really fancy clothes are sort of non-existent in the Netherlands. you won't find many girls with dresses and heels. I like the style of the Dutch girls, though.

The country is not mentioned a lot of the forum -with things like ''I can not find Dutch girls in Amsterdam,, only tourists''. This is big bullshit to me if you go to the right places (In Amsterdam: clubbing on thursdays, wednesdays, fridays, saturdays, Bitterzoet,Paradiso, Melkweg,Studio 80, Trouw (rave scene), Barkode, Pacific, all the rave parties, all the parties by university clubs. For the raves and university club parties, social circle is more important but not THAT important...

I think Dutch girls are really really beautiful, a lot of Europeans love them (exotic for them). But in Amsterdam the 'Exotic guy factor' doesn't really exist.

More cities:
-Leiden (more poshy student town, HiFi club is nice, a lot of international students as well)

-Maastricht (far out southeast, close to Koln and Aken): students as well, beautiful city.

-Nijmegen (different atmosphere, not real clubbing, more bars. Lots of girls as well)

-for carnival (and troughout the year): Den Bosch, Eindhoven, Breda

-Haarlem (between the sea and Amsterdam, nice city. social circle is more important there I guess.

A lot of factors make everyone's opinion different. Age is a big factor. If you're twenty then somewhere like Amsterdam or Berlin might be amazing. However if you're 38 and still want to get with 21 year old students, then obviously it's somewhere in Ukraine or Russia. I'm 27 so I'm somewhere in the middle. I love Hamburg, but it's too expensive to live the way I want to be living - hence why I'm checking out Poland next month. Probably going to check out Budapest, Tallin etc over the coming months, but I may find I miss the perks of Western Europe, who knows!

I'm not into really hot summers, so living in Florence in August would be horrible for me, but Florence in perhaps April, lovely. MattC from the forum is in Valencia right now and I'm sure the weather there is very pleasant for this time of year, and even in summer would be tolerable as it's by water. I was in Florence in August 2012... it was one of the hottest days on the planet on that particular day and man was it horrible!

I'm pretty close to Hamburg, though I've never been there. Can you update the data sheet at some point? One other thing: if I wanna spend a night or two there on the cheap, where do you recommend staying?

You mean you're German? Or you live in a country close by?

The data sheet is fairly up to date from what I remember. St. Pauli attracts everyone, but for the more upmarket German crowd, I'd head to Sternschanze. Teenage girls frequent the Thomas Reed Pub on Reeperbahn, especially downstairs on weekends. There's Golden Cut for a more swanky night out, but be prepared to dress up and still get rejected at the door. Another very upmarket place (not been I'm afraid though) is Bar Hamburg near the main train station. De Niro, Mick Jagger etc - they've all been.

There's tons of places by the lakes too and in the height of summer, the Elbe river has beaches. Talking about it makes me want to go there!

Having lived in the sunshine of Colorado and California, I just can't see giving it up.

Portugal, Spain, southern France, Croatia, parts of Italy and Greece seem to be the only tolerable options.

Here is a map of hours of sunshine per year to put things into perspective:

Has anyone been to Rome in the wintertime? My workload slows dramatically during the wintertime, it would be the best time of year for me to take an international trip.

If the weather is quite tolerable, I may head over late this year or early next year. And maybe take the train to Amsterdam, and spend some time in the coffee shops I've always been curious about.

I'm putting a six month plan together on this topic. It looks like you've done some research. I understand the first place. I don't understand the rest. I haven't been to those cities in Poland. I have been to Novi Sad and found it to be in the middle of no where. I was just there for the day though so I didn't get to look around. Anyway, it would be cool if you went into your criteria, thoughts, etc.

Rome is better in the winter than in the summer, when it can be oppressively hot and all of the tourist sites are crowded. If the sun's out, it can get into the 60sF even in December and January. Google says it's 56F and raining in Rome as I write this - not bad.

The best time to visit Rome is late March/early April - the beginning of spring but before the tourists start coming in. There's nothing like walking down a tree-lined street in Rome in a light rain when the leaves are just coming out.

The cooler weather also allows you to dress better, and you can even take advantage of the end-of-winter sales to buy a stylish jacket, winter coat or raincoat you could not get in the USA. Don't fill your suitcase - plan to buy some clothes there.

Airfares are cheapest from now until late March, too! If you plan to go to Amsterdam, don't just rely on the major airfare search engines like Kayak and Expedia - make sure you check out Ryanair, Transavia, EasyJet and the other euro discount airlines.

Good question...and i have that dilemma myself, family in Switzerland ...but looking to set up in a cheaper place, Switzerland is a good place to make money, but boring and the women are just plain weird. So for me it has to be a cheap place near Switzerland...and in that regard i like Munich or Bregenz. But i also like Sibiu in Romania which is a little further away but is really cheap, nice women, and close to the Ukraine, for those cheap trips into Russia and the Ukraine picking up young pussy when im over 50.... maybe a place in both..

I wouldnt want to live in southern europe. Bad economy, not really into med looking women and Summer too hot. Bavaria is nice. Incredible economy, clean, low crime rate. Best Job opportunity with many high tech companies. Love the smaller towns there. Heidelberg would be perfect. Amazing medievil town with nice sourounding. The scenery in Bavaria is also nice. Cant live without mountains and the lakes there are also stunning.

For the women. Dont want to live in a place with too many hot women. That would be a sensory overload every day for me. Not good for my psych. Would get depression that I cant sleep with all of them. The beauty would also become too common and not special anymore. I think my libido is stronger than the average. Many of you wouldnt have a problem to live in kiev.

I'm of the same opinion. I just don't dig Asian women so much (but there are very hot ones). I wasn't impressed with Poland, Hungary and Czech Republic so much over Western Europe (they are for sure not prettier than Western European girls). Okay, these countries are Central Europe, and I have never seen the Balkans and Russia, so I can't say too much. I can imagine Latvian and Russian girls are pretty.

Spain has very hot girls, so does France. Brazil and Colombia have very fun and hot girls. Norway has very pretty girls. I've seen many hot girls in Las Vegas and Santa Monica/Venice Beach.

My point is not that Asia and less so Eastern Europe are bad, but on this forum (USA centric) the differences in beauty between European countries can perhaps be overstated. And I am from Europe and have been in a lot of countries here.

Everyone is looking for the perfect place, but nobody talks so much about having a particular city on lock. That's suspicious gents.

Cities that appeal to me are Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, Budapest, Amsterdam, Vienna and Munich. I've heard great stories about Istanbul but I leave that to the more adventurous.

The question is not quite specific enough... It should be clarified/separated into whether one plans to earn their living from the local city's economy or if one has their own location independent income or jus planning to do a staycation type of extended holiday living for a couple months surviving on savings.

My income is location independent, so for me the more expensive western european cities are more weekend getaway destinations or places to visit and travel with friends... Famous cities like Paris, London, Munich, Rome etc are amazing in their own right but are too feminist and western for me to live in and simply don't appeal to me like the edginess of eastern europe, plus I have a penchant for slender slavic women.

Anywhere with sweet, beautiful women.

This feeling has long-faded in my case, but I still remember the first time I went to Eastern Europe after growing up in the West. My first couple days of daygame were probably the happiest times of my life. I was on wings. I cannot explain how great this feeling is for men who have never experienced femininity before. Femininity is lifeblood.
