The power of beards

I think opinions will depend on where you're from. In the UK, undercuts, hair back, and beards are extremely common at this stage to the point where I'd feel embarrassed to have it. It looked good for a while though, but it's been killed out.

The power of beards

I'm in my late 40s, and balding a bit on the top.
Maybe about 5 years ago, I decided that short hair works a lot better for me in kind of disguising the balding, and soon thereafter, I started to sport a kind of around the mouth beard. I think that it is good for me, but then about a year ago, maybe right before Halloween, I started to do a full beard (but cut short), and my GF protested when halloween passed but I continued to maintain the full beard.
I hand trim about every couple of days and allow the around the mouth part to be a little longer than the rest, and if I let it grow out too much then more grey shows, which personally, I prefer not to have too much grey showing at this point in my life.
Even though my GF complained quite a bit in the beginning, she has come around to accepting the whole situation, and she should because it is my choice anyhow (even though I do consider her opinion on some of these grooming matters and I don't want to give up too much discretion to inevitable henpicking attempts).
