Nah it's all about charisma, some guys don't know how to rock a beard, that's their problem.

it's not because you can't grow one that you have to diss it [Image: lol.gif]

that guy on the right is exactly my look. well, except that i'm 6'4 and 250.

i find that chicks either love or hate the beard. and when they love it, the love it hard.

when i go out though, i often get more comments from dudes. especially if i go to a baseball game, damn near 10 people will say something to me then.

I always sport the 1-2 day rough look. I haven't yet had a woman say she doesn't like it. It helps give my jaw some definition and doesn't make looks so boyish.

Keeping a decent beard has definitely helped. Started it after a girl recommended me grow it out, as the stubble would burn/chafe her when kissing, I didn't like clean shaven and couldn't keep clean shaven easily (it grows fast), and I've received quite a lot of compliments from it.

Keeping it at a #4 for the beard, #3 for the area around the lips as it looks neater than having hair dangle around there. Was trying #5, but it seemed to be a bit long from opinions I gathered. The #4 setting seemed like the most fitting.

Beards can be cool. But they're also popular with manginas too.

While it's true that manginas and hipster types do tend to sport the beard, to me it's a broader sign of the following:

- Independent man not subject to corporate America's nonacceptance of facial hair
- Alpha/rugged man

Not that you should have one because it's fashionable, but if you like it and it looks good on you, it should have nothing but positive effects for you.

It's funny...in my experience, mother and sisters always encouraged a shaven face and longer hair, the traditional Southern Gentleman/Professional Corporate worker look. I prefer a #3-4 shaved head and 3-10 days of scruff. Guess which one gets me more positive feedback from chicks?

I'm rarely ever clean shaven these days. I've experimented with a goatee and other styles, but my best look is with a tapered, full-growth. It looks the most masculine and natural (not sculpted but maintained at a reasonable length).

Goatees are for Mexican gardeners and 45 year old retired NBA stars IMO. Stay away from that shit it's not 2002.

I think Tupac was one of thefew guys who looked good with goatee. I cant imagine him w/ beard.

Sideburns look good on me but how do you grow them out and maintain them at a decent length? Clippers?

I'm balding so I have my hair cut close. What are your thoughts on having a beard longer than the hair on your head? I have a full beard that grows in evenly. I'm not talking a huge beard and bald head, but like a #3 clippers on the beard and #1 on the head.

It's become cliche, but many bald guys look better with beards. Even a short-cropped beard or just a few days stubble can improve your look. I see a lot of guys with their balding heads cut almost, but not quite to the point of being clean shaven who also have beard stubble and they pull it off. A guy with a clean shaven face and scalp can look boring and nondescript, especially if he's fair skinned. And men with blonde hair shouldn't even think about clean-shaving both their head and face, but should always at least leave some trace of hair. It can make a difference between seeming healthy and looking like a cancer patient. Whatever you do, wear it confidently.

It takes almost zero effort to grow a beard. (Just minimal grooming.)
Growing muscle for instance.. that's a different matter. Guess which is more effective.

For those of you w beards, what kind of look do you pull off in the meantime while its growing and fillin out. I've read that to grow an adequate beard one should take six weeks without touching it then worry about styling trimming. What do you do in that in-between stage?

I've had a goatee going back to college but it's because I like the way I look with it versus without. On some guys facial hair looks ridiculous, while on others it can compliment a look quite well. Too many variables to make a given rule about it, though in general if you're going to grow facial hair, you're best off to keep it trimmed up.

I'm growing a beard. Kind of sucks because I just got into shaving with my safety razor.

But, I've been watching guys with beards kill it lately, and almost every guy in my neighborhood has beards.

Conformist, you might say of me.

Let's let the notch count/quality weigh in first.

So the answer to my question here: My beard is getting me pussy? Is yes...

I usually keep at least a 5 o'clock shadow going, but I did go about 5 months without shaving earlier this year and had a pretty amazing beard, that definitely got some attention. Haven't shaved in 2 weeks or so, and this beard is already pretty solid. Can't see myself being clean shaven any time soon.

Just shaved off my goatee, was told that if I'm dressing well then the goatee is incongruent, though now I look 5 yrs younger then my age. Will report back.
