Just arrived back in the US for the first time in years - my impressions

Went out to the bars last night.

My impressions as a foreigner visiting the US :

1. Women have the attention span of a newt. Literally impossible to have a conversation lasting more than two sentences without them getting distracted, often mid-sentence.

2. Women here just won't stop texting with their damn phones in the bars! We need a new word for women like this. Best I have come up with so far is FOMOs (Fear Of Missing Out). They could be talking to the most interesting and attractive guy but they will instantly switch to texting in the middle of a conversation if they receive a text from a friend complaining about their dog peeing on the rug for fear of missing out on anything said by any of their friends.

3. When they are not texting they spend the entire time taking photos of themselves.

The bars here really are a waste of time. I did have one girl hit on me the other day in a bar but she was a 5 ... meh.

Don't mean to sound like a dick, but which countries exactly did you just come back from? Everything is relative. I have spent 2 years abroad and the smart-phone-ADD thing is just as much of an epidemic in those 2 cities, if not more so, than here.

I think the Asian countries, especially Japan, are much worse than the US when it comes to ADD and addiction to the smartphone. Between the 70+ year olds shuffling along and everyone else playing with their phone, it's hard to even walk down the street in Tokyo.

I remember going to Spain two summers ago and being shocked about how little girls used their phones.

That is what sparked the whole "cell phone blocker" idea.

The phones drive me nuts. Very annoying habit.

I call constantly texting or being on the cell phone doing anything 'Blue-Facing'. Basically, the screen gives a blue hue to the face of the person using it. I hate blue facing so much that I avoided getting a smart phone until a month ago...

These countries are at the forefront of technology, phones in particular. They have phone models and features there that actually don't get sold in other markets. They rely MORE heavily on their phones than anyone else in the world. We're on them because we can be, but they actually NEED theirs. So we should probably exempt them from the discussion regarding cellphone ADD.

Of course.

Yeah, I was thinking it was a California city.

SF, LA, SD and OC are top 4 in America for girls glued to their cell phones.

Other places in America are still not as bad as those 4.

Recently I've had a lot of success with telling girls in the US, 'put that shit away'. Just say it with authority and they'll usually obey.
