And we fucked women everywhere we went!

Portugal was stretched too thin. The population was just over 1 million, and there were colonies and trading posts in Brazil, Africa, Iran, India, Malaysia, China, and Japan. There was a lack of Portuguese women in the colonies. Therefore, the Portuguese king aggressively promoted miscegenation, in order to increase the population levels in the colonies. Especially in Brazil, which was being coveted by the French and the Dutch.

No. Wrong.

Wherever Europeans went to colonize, there was a shortage of European women - that is axiomatic

Only the Portuguese and Spanish fucked like maniacs to create essentially a new race of people. Potentially, the Spaniards had an excuse - Spain is a large country.

But as you say, small Portugal with tiny population did mucho damage in the New World with Indogenous and African women - (also Cape Verde/ Angola, Mozambique).....WHY ???

clearly a significant percentage of Portuguese men took all available opportunity to bang even marry non Porutguese women. WHY ??

BECAUSE: Portuguese women are god awful (generally speaking of course) - thats why !

Ever heard of the Amazon rainforest? Were it not for the Amazon, Brazil would probably be a Spanish-speaking country today.

The Dutch were very aggressive in Brazil in the 1600s, but they lost. Why? The Netherlands is a small country. When you don't have people, you hire mercenaries, which is dangerous. The mercenaries tend to be disloyal when you need them the most. The other alternative is to mix with the locals and breed willing soldiers. Much cheaper, and much more effective. When someone invades your country and you need to recruit soldiers, you recruit the locals, since those people will be motivated and will fight almost for free. It's their land, and they have nowhere else to go.

The Portuguese were in India from 1498 till 1961. Why did Portuguese colonies in India last so much longer than British colonies in India?

Yes, because Portuguese women today look exactly like they did in 1513. Seriously, dude. The genetic characteristics of a population change over time. You can't infer the past phenotypes from the present ones. That's utterly ridiculous.

Following your line of reasoning, Ancient Athenians looked exactly like Greeks today. Yeah, right. And 400 years of Ottoman occupation surely had no impact in their genetics. Sure...

HAHA! This is a case of either trolling or senseless hate, either way Icarus has responded more than brilliantly to all the positive queries.

I'm booked for Portugal from April 5-8. Staying in the Bairro Alto part of Lisbon. Should I hit Porto instead on Saturday night? Is that a day trip or a spot for good nightlife as well?

Interesting logistics, won't be hard to pickup drunken chicks [Image: tongue.gif]

Porto is excellent for both but nightlife is excellent indeed!

Is Porto better than Lisbon? I'm talking girls and nightlife.

Well, THAT is arguable, especially on the nightlife part, on the girls part I would say yes! They are also a BIT easier... but of course alcohol does the trick mostly, watch out for jealous female cockblockers, those are a constant! So, sure, I'd put Porto over Lisbon in those terms.

Thanks. How would you rank in order from top to bottom Lisboa, Porto, Braga, and Coimbra? Where in Porto is good for logistics?

Again, it depends on what you search for, but if you are talking about beauty of the city it would be Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra , Braga.

If you are talking about ease in girls it could be Coimbra, Porto, Lisbon, Braga. (Coimbra is basically a student city and things can go WILD, normally they are somewhat easier up north but Braga is less populated than Lisbon and Porto so eh! But also worth checking out, some nice babes there).

As for nightlife ... Porto/Lisbon (arguable this one), Coimbra and then Braga,

Coimbra should be the easiest for a very simple reason: it's a student city. Coimbra is the one city in Portugal where most girls do not live with their parents, which means that they're looser and wilder.

I've done tons of research on nightlife. First of all, I'm glad to learn that the clubs in Portugal's cities don't even get going until 2-3am. That's what I'm talking about!!! None of that early last call cockblocking nonsense.

It seems Lisbon has more going on nightlife wise than Porto. With 4 days I'm better off just staying in one city. I'm going to stick with Lisbon.

I'll drop a data sheet when I get back. I get to Lisbon the morning of April 5th.

A few days ago I met an old Portuguese friend of mine, and while discussing the nightlife in Lisbon, he told me that Lux was now opening earlier, due to a sudden influx of Scandinavian tourists (who are used to start partying at 22:00, not 02:00). So, if you want to meet some Swedish or Norwegian chicks, it may be a good idea to go to Lux early.

I was surprised by this. But, just a few posts ago, one of the Portuguese RVF'ers commented that Lisbon was full of Northern European tourists, so there may be some truth here...

Don't forget that the bars in bairro alto and Cais do Sodré start close at 3 in the morning.

Crucial intel. I'd like to get a Portuguese flag but sometimes the tourists look better than the locals. Thanks for the update. Very timely.

Is having a hotel in the Bairro Alto crucial? I found a nice brand name one near Laranjeras metro that is much nicer quality than the ones in Bairro Alto and less expensive too. To get to BA via metro it's like 45 mins altogether, including walking to/from.
Cab is another option as well. Should I just stick with a hotel in BA?

It's NOT crucial , but hey, being near a place where hundreds of girls have the potential to be drunk as piss and having it near you, since you can also be somewhat tipsy.... well it definitely comes in handy! Also considering the transports that have the potencial to make you spend the same money you would anyway... ~~

Chose Bairro Alto. It would be much harder to convince a girl to go with you from Bairro Alto to Laranjeiras.

I am not sure if you are aware of the mess that is Bairro Alto at night? Not hundreds at a specific place because it is too small to have so many people but hundreds passing! And as my countryman said, it would be much harder to convince them to go from there to Laranjeiras, believe me xD Heck, if you land the portuguese flag you're a big man already XD

once again, I repeat myself. I'm so glad 99% of my portuguese friends don't understand my love for polish chicks.

I don't have patience for portuguese girls. wasting time on going to stupid "cafézinhos" over and over. female friends actually cockblocking you, ruining you slim chances... And extreme white knighting from the dudes. Not to mention that most of them have lower IQs than a brick, spending their time watching big brother spin offs.
I am the typical case that in Portugal I can't kiss a girl to save my life, but when I'm abroad I do very well

Yep, imo the white knighting and the whole culture of the portuguese "princesses" woman is the worst. Any average girl on social media will get around 50 likes with idiots writing amazingly long paragraphs about how beautiful she is.

I was the happiest person when I saw Portuguese girls on their Erasmus year in Poland. They'd not get a single bit of attention and would be the most desperate women in the clubs.. The sweet taste of revenge.

THis sounds like me in DR... seeing American chicks
i wonder if pit remembers that... hes a brit so probably did give a fuk.
But as an American its GLORIOUS!!!

Lux is in Santa Apolonia according to this list. How far is that from BA?
