I just got into Phuket today for a month of muay thai training. I will be here for all of June.
I will keep you all updated about how it goes - cost of living, ease and quality of hooking up, etc. I am not really staying in a touristy spot of town, which has its advantages and disadvantages.

Phuket is great. Must be super hot this time if year. i was there in the cool season and I was still sweating balls.
Avoid Patong Beach. Its a touristy area, and so 98% of the girls at the clubs where pros. Its ridiculous. Plus the beach is crappy.
Do an Island hopping tour. Its a full day and cost me about $100. Extremely worth it. Snorkling & lunch is included. They take you to like 6 islands. Some really cool spots. One island is called monkey island, where monkeys will eat out of your hand and steal your food.
That mui tai camp sounds sweet. I remember finding one on the internet a long time ago, but have never tried it. Its like 5 hours a day of training, right? But I remember its kinda out in the middle of nowhere, so internet game might be a good option.
Lastly, one of the nearby islands (I think it was Ko Samoi) has a full moon party every month. Didnt get to check it out when I was there, but its supposed to be good.

I checked the link on the muay thai school and it looks very tempting. I definitely need a good plan like this to get back to full fitness and this, at this awesome location right on the beach is what the doctor ordered for me. I'll do it starting this fall.
YMG,
Please keep me posted on how the training goes as I'm very interested in doing it as well this fall.
Thanks man.

I've been wanting to study Muay Thai for a long time, and this looks sick. I'd probably do a couple months and then spend a couple months chilling in Asia. Very curious to know how the training is.

Daily Schedule:
6:30 Wake up, no breakfast - morning training is done on an empty stomach to maximize fat loss
7:00 5 KM run
7:30-9 Training: jump rope, five 5-minute rounds on the kicking bags, sparring with trainers, conditioning and drills
By the end of the morning session you are completely soaked. What I like about the gym is that it is an open air gym so you have these breezes coming right in while you are training.
I have never trained in tropical weather before and it is difficult to say the least. At times I feel like I am going to pass out.
Food is amazing and cheap as hell. Rent is 300 bucks for a month, food is like 250-300 bucks depending on where you eat, and a month of school is like 270 bucks.
There is an afternoon training session from 5-7 that I have not done yet because I am so exhausted. I am physically capable of doing it but I want to make sure I can wake up every day for the morning session, which is twice as effective in terms of fat loss. I do not really care about leaving here as a professional fighter, I just want to cut all the fat that I gained from France and Beijing.
Average weight loss seems to be about 8kg here, or like 20 pounds in a month. You have to factor in some muscle and water loss here, but by eating regularly, drinking occasionally, and doing the muay thai people tend to lose about 10 pounds of solid fat per month here. If you are an exceptionally fat/large person you will lose more than 10 pounds of solid fat per month.
I am cutting down on the drinking and thus will not rely on nightlife game to bone. In fact, I am too tired from getting my ass kicked by thai people that I dont even have the energy or libido to bone right now.
I'm feeling great.

The price is actually around 300-350 bucks to train, not 270 as I said.
If you have any questions let me know.

I got propositioned by a ladyboy last night. It was dark and he/she was riding by on a motorcycle. I guess I look Chinese bc she goes
"Ni haoooo"
Super fine body but voice and face (and adam's apple) clearly gave her away.
Online dating has created me three or four prospects but the logistics are not great as they live half an hour away. Also they reek of desperation and might be pros...in general the girls here all seem to be pros.
I am going to switch my focus to girls in my area that I see. I think these girls like light skinned Asian dudes, as all the celebrities look Chinese.

Thanks for asking.
It is intense and I am starting to feel a bit of fatigue and minor injuries, although nothing that is going to not let me train.
The heat is starting to get to me. The amount of sweat you lose doing kickboxing on the equator with no air conditioning is pretty intense.
Having said that, I am clearly getting into better shape.
