He was found 'not guilty', not innocent.

Assholes finish first again. News at 11.

Not guilty of the murder charges. The verdict on the remaining unlawful killing charges is still pending.

It is unlikely he won't get some punishment. I can't believe you can go firing at supposedly 'unknown' people in your bathroom willy nilly.

What is his income/wealth/fame?

Would be nice to know the threshold that allows one to get away with a murder.

Totally insane. While the verdict was being read, OP even had a smirk on his face in the pictures I saw of him.

I'm watching a live stream of the verdict. Sounds as if he is going to be found guilty of culpable homicide based on "The Reasonable Man" premise. Definitely isn't reasonable to fire shots through a closed door.

In the cold light of day, it makes no sense for him to go killing people as he has too much to lose. He is hardly going to premeditate that. The alternative to the 'intruder' story is in the heat of the moment, he got angry and shot his girlfriend. But, it looks like the jury beloved he robbery scenario and he shot his girlfriend by mistake. He certainly sobbed a lot during the trail and must feel really bad having accidentally killed his girl.

The judge will release the rest of her verdict tomorrow.

The only info released today is that Pistorius did not 'murder' Reeva, which merely means that it was not a premeditated planned killing (according to the legal definition of murder in South African law).

The final verdict has not been released yet.

Before the trial started Pistorius owned three houses and a vacant plot in South Africa worth a total of approximately 8.3 million rand ($936,000).

Movable assets, which included furniture, cars, and jewelry, totaled about $56,000.

Pistorius also said that had cash investments of over 1 million rand, or $112,000, and an annual income of $631,000. He also had some more money in savings.

But Pistorius’ wealth and net worth dwindled as the trial dragged on, leaving him to sell at least one of the homes. He finished the sale on the most expensive home–the one where he killed Steenkamp–late last month, garnering about 4.5 million rand.

Pistorius had said that the home was worth approximately 8.3 million rand ($936,000) at one point, but was unable to get a better offer. Lawyer Brian Webber said in a statement earlier this year that it had “become necessary” to sell the villa, which is in a gated community in Pretoria, because of trial costs.

Did they ever get the texts off of his and her phones?

I thought that would tell the tale with regard to any motive to kill.

Yes, the judge said they were irrelevant because relationships by nature are volatile and fickle and texts do not imply motive.

Well, hell, you can use that in every domestic violence case.

They never even released them publicly?

Can still get 15 years if found guilty of culpable homicide, which is around what I think he will be facing tomorrow. But tomorrow will reveal all.

Not sure about him receiving VIP treatment from the courts, over and above any minor logistical considerations because of the media interest. It doesn't seem he or his family are such big fishes. Though he has seemed to indicate he believes otherwise. A few months ago he made some unwise statements at a nightclub about his family being such big stuff they "piss on Zuma". "Zuma" being Jacob Zuma, the president of the country. That is unlikely, otherwise we would know what they are about. They are somewhat rich, and could get away with smoothing any time spent in prison through bribes to prison officials, but I think that's were it ends. Whatever the verdict and sentence I don't see it as him receiving "special" treatment. Obviously since he has access to money he can afford a good defense, but that is his own business. The state is not providing him with this.

Stories like this, OJ and Ray Rice make me think relationships with 8s and 9s is a world of pain. That's where Game is necessary e.g shit tests and Amogs. Some guys just can't handle the hotties,me included .

Don't debate me.

'Reasonable doubt'. Prosecution did not convince the judge beyond reasonable doubt that he killed his girlfriend with malice aforethought. He may yet be convicted of a manslaughter-like charge (which only requires beyond reasonable doubt that he killed someone unlawfully).

A long heavy sentence is likely, the end of his performance career and the end of earning big bucks. Whatever he has accumulated will get spent during his time inside (he is only worth a few million $ it seems). He was set on his way to earn millions after the Olympics. It must really suck for the dude.

Oscar Pistorius found guilty (of homicide)

Still, it says that the possible punishment for that ranges from just a fine to 10 years in prison.

While I don't expect a slap on the wrist, given the favorable treatment he has received so far, I estimate he will get something relatively small like 1-2 years.

I'm surprised the female judge has actually followed South African law to a tee and not just convicted him based on an emotion or inkling.

My gut feeling is that he murdered her. That it was a row that got out of hand and he just capped her through the door in the heat of the moment.

I just don't buy the premise that it's Valentines Day, you wake up in the middle of the night and you don't recognise that the chick your with isn't in the bed before you start firing off shots. Na I just don't buy it.

But I'm not sure there was ever enough evidence to show that. I think culpable homicide is probably the right verdict taking everything into consideration.

I'm thinking similarly to Handsome Creepy Eel in terms of sentencing. I'm confident that it will be 5 or less. However, I think anything less than 7 is a bit of a joke.

I read somewhere that the South African Culpable Homicide was 5 years.

General James "Mad Dog" Mattis: Nothing, I keep other people awake at night.

Sounds like a man with very poor impulse control. The non premeditation ruling is probably correct in a technical sense. If he really wanted to have her done up in South Africa it probably wouldn't have been hard to set her up for an unfortunate "carjacking" or "rape/mugging" gone wrong. There's plenty of psychos there who will do anything for cash. This points to a guy who just isn't all that smart to begin with.

I truly get sick of seeing this guy whine and cry in court.

I suggest to nominate him Omega of the year award.

It confirms me that athletes are not alphas per definition. Also, weapons have nothing "alpha". Pulling a trigger with your little finger is omega, compared to using your brains and fists to defend yourself.

Of course, to shoot any girl in a Toilet is beyond Omega.

Pistorius, as so many idiots on this planet, is not being brought to justice; but hey, we already know this is an unfair world.
