This was like 2 years ago. After getting bored of those plastic clubs on the main strip. Stumbled into a local "guide" who promised to take us somewhere a little different.

We taxied into town and ended up at this spot called Mambo Cafe. I wouldn't say I was in paradise, but it was a much needed change of scenery to those overpriced clubs on the strip. I'd rather go there to game women/have fun at clubs than anywhere on the strip (The strip was a never ending sausage fest when we went in May 2014, but I did luckily ONS a local 6.5 chica that approached me at Mandalas as I was ready to leave).

There were almost no tourists at Mambo cafe whatsoever there and they played a variety of Latin music. We stuck like sore thumbs being the only gringos and being unable to dance. But a lot of the local girls were more than willing to help. They have live performances. Ended up taking a pair of twin sisters back to our resort..ironically both were on the rag at the same time (smh, lol) although one gave my buddy a BJ.

Tulum has a beach strip area and a downtown area, similar to Cancun

The town itself is built around the main highway that goes from Cancun to Belize, seems to be growing rapidly. It's worth checking out since it's more authentic and there are solid restaurants, bakeries, etc. but I would definitely stay at a place on the beach.

The beach area is one long strip from the Tulum ruins (awesome, but can get busy with the tour bus crowd) down to the Sian Kaan Nature Reserve. Tulum Playa as they call it is much quieter, nicer, and 100% tourism focused. There are hotels on both sides of the road so you can wake up in a cabana right on the beach if you want. Watch out for crabs

You can easily ride a bike around Tulum Playa to hit up different restaurants or the ruins or whatever. Riding to town is a trek especially since it's hot and the bikes usually aren't the best, there is a bike path though so it's doable.

The nature reserve is pretty cool but I don't recommend riding the bike there. That's a story for another day

I'm going to bump this thread as I have quite a bit of Cancun experience (as a tourist).

First off, Cancun doesn't suck, as seems to be the popular opinion here. Cancun just isn't for everyone. My experiences revolve around staying at resorts. I've been to the Grand Oasis twice and the Riu once. Both are sex central.

I have been at 3 different times of year:
-early January
-American Spring Break
-late August

I have never been to a place where it was so easy to pull hot chicks. This is a summary that I'd say is very accurate:

A. Good looking, young, good game You will be shooting fish in a barrel, with a shotgun. Best spot to pull is always the most popular bar on your resort. Keep in mind that you need to go to a resort frequented by young people. Cancun is full of them, but there are also a ton to avoid.

B. Average looking, good game You will have to put some effort in, but you'll have no major issues.

C. Good-looking, no game Almost as easy as point A. Especially at Spring break, there's good odds that you will simply make eye contact with a hot chick in the pool, and be inside her 20 minutes later, by virtue simply of being good looking and her looking to drown herself in your sperm while on vacation

D. Average looking, no game It will be a struggle at times, but you'll probably get a notch or two on pure luck

E. Not good looking, no game You have zero chance of getting laid without paying for it, or settling for a walrus

Cancun at Spring Break is fucking madness. I went to the huge clubs which was fun, but logistics are a fucking nightmare if staying at a resort. Most won't let you bring in a visitor, although some will take a bribe (20-40USD). That said, if it's March, and if you're at the Grand Oasis, about 1 in 3 drunk white chicks at the club are probably staying there as well, so you may get lucky.

At the resort, hunting season is truly open. I hung out in the pool, made friends with dudes and chicks alike, planted as many seeds as possible. Some guys brought inflatable beer pong tables which was great for social circle creation. I did not attempt day game (as in pulling for day sex). I simply had an awesome time, talked to everyone, kept a solid buzz going, got my dose of sunshine. This translate into on-resort nightgame that is easy as fuck. Around 8pm the bars on resort will start picking up. Every night I would bump into girls I met earlier at the pool. Now they're in the mood to drink and go out. I pulled 5 out of 7 nights during spring break like this.

Simply drink with them at the bar (10 bucks to a server/bartender will get you remarkable service the whole time), convince them to go out and see the town (usually super easy), and bam, you come back together and get it on. It's a feeding frenzy. Remember, Cancun at Spring Break is where American chicks come to party harder and do more "naughty" things than they feel comfortable doing at home. The chicks I hooked up with were actually all smart, educated, mature, respectable girls. But they were on spring break in Cancun, and thought it was a great idea to get facial'ed for the first time.

The easiest way to get laid on spring break is to have fun. Women notice this, and they come to you. Cancun is the epitome of this. For those that say it sucks, I assume the atmosphere just isn't for you, and I completely understand that. But if, like me, your idea of a great time is a non-stop party surrounded by good looking drunk chicks who have almost no self-imposed rules or limits during that week, do not write off Cancun.

If there's any interest, I'll go into detail and share a few specific stories from my Cancun travels.

Follow up: I'm 25. I can easily pass for 22 or 23 so have no problem fitting into the crowd. I encountered many dudes who were pushing 30 or older. No real issue with this. Nobody cares how old you are. Just say you're on vacation instead of spring break, if you aren't in college.

Oasis is hit or miss. Yes it's known as THE party resort but you never know who'll be there. 4 years ago I stayed in May and I had a lot of fun within the resort despite being there only 2 nights. Narrowly missed out on this cute Dominicana I was literally molesting in the pool. Even the parties at the clubs were fun. I couldn't wait to return.

Then the following year I went the exact same time except for 1 week and ratios were downright brutal!!! I'm talking 7 or 8 guys to every girl....not only at the Oasis but at the clubs on the strip too. And nearly every girl was with their boyfriend. I remember being at the hotel just wanting to punch these groups of guys that rolled 9 or 10 deep just out of the fact of coming with that many guys.

The 1st night I went to Mandala at like 11pm and thought it was a gay pride event with the amount of guys to women. I was there fuming with my wing at how bad the night was. The ironic thing is as I walked downstairs to leave...I was eyed down by this cute big tittied Mexicana who walked straight up to me and on her Google translate opened me.

I told her I had a wedding to attend in the afternoon in Playa (which I really) did and I'd take her #. Her response was more direct: "I want to be with you tonight". I thought she was a prepago and declined but she was persistent and in the morning I just paid for her cab home.

I highly recommend getting off the tourist strip in terms of clubs and going to Mango Cafe for a more local feel. There' were almost 0 tourists there both nights we went. Ratios were much better and it was fun not hearing the same top 40 songs as the strip.....it's all salsa, merengue, mariachi, etc.

But be careful. I'm still in touch with the Mexicana and she told me it's getting hot down there with violence and it's no longer devoid of the cartel problems plaguing the rest of the country.

------HOW TO GET LAID FOR CHEAP DURING SPRING BREAK:--------

Stay at hostel mayapan $15-18/night (near clubs)
At 11:30am Take any southbound bus for 11 pesos down to paradisus hotel. Walk thru the lobby straight to the beach (usually isn't security; however on Saturday there was so i had to go thru Mariot). Head south to oasis beach (you'll see the crowd)
Either pimp on the beach or sneak into the main party: it's so easy. Just put lots of random wristbands on. On the beach, go one hotel south of the big stage, walk into the pool from the beach, no one is checking wristbands there. then just follow the path back north right into the party. Be careful once you're in. Once i was taking a video up by the stage and a security guard saw i didn't have a bracelet. Gotta keep your hands down.
Once you're in there are no check points to walk to the rooms either so just ask a girl to see the view from her room and you're in.

After oasis take a nap until 2am. Then walk to the club strip and Scoop up any girl you choose flowing out of the club which had the inception fest party that night. Or senior frogs will have no cover most nights.
Profit.

If on the other hand, you have money, just book a room at Oasis and you really should never have to leave. Just swim in pink love. Or to really save money, you could stay at a cheap hostel downtown and the bus ride to Oasis would just be twice as long. I'm going to start doing that since I stopped going out at night all together. The oasis dat party is just so much better than anything else on this island if you like young, skinny, white girls.

Came March 11- april 2nd for USA spring break
Stayed in hostel mayapan which is right next to riu on hotel zone (near Cocobongo etc). It was $15-18/night for a dorm bed, but they also have $50 privates.
No one really watches the door, and there's even a "back" door that doesn't pass reception at all, just one security guard who never looks at anyone. so will be insanely easy to pull. There's a hot tub, gym, aqua massager thing, piano... Many excuses to bring a girl back.

My days:
Mon: bassjackers at mandala beach at noon. Buying temps were through the roof at about 1:30pm and girls were already getting pulled so ratio went way down my time it closed around 6. Small party, less than 500. But i don't regret paying the $32 cause there were some true stunners here. However sneaking into Oasis is always the cheaper better.
Mon night: senior frogs was free entry at 1:15am prob 200 ppl. Enough sets to warm up.

Tue afternoon: mandala beach club had a free entry Victoria secret party. More local girls. Still fun.

Other days: mandala beach club is $25 just to hang out by the bar. Not much fun. Go to oasis beach.

Wed night: got to strip at 3:30am and Coco, city, palazo, daddyo, and frogs looked cleared out. Mandala cleared out at 4.
Inception Party was at daddyo so maybe the concerts let out at 2am?

Fri night: tried 11:11 club with a couple sweedish girls from the hostel. It turned out to be 100% dudes.

Sat nite: went to mambocafe at midnight. 60 peso entry. There was one couple dancing. Other than that just ~80 people sitting down at tables. Not even a crowd at the bar to mingle with. It's a big place tho.. Girls were still trickling in at midnight. But only heffers

This is also the club you will want to pimp outside of at 2am. If you go to any other club that night you will be greeted with endless sausage only.

Walking around & realized i ate something bad, had to run and shit in the lagoon, looked up and realized I'm surrounded by a whole nest of 30 giant iguanas. Pretty cool to see them in the wild.

At oasis met a sexy little pink nipple'd Argentinan futball player on the dance floor. Befriended her friends then Invited her to the pool. May or may not have got it in while swimming around. Security didn't give me benefit of the doubt once they stopped us & saw i didn't have a bracelet. I got escorted by a few of em.. Def felt like i was gonna end up in jail. front desk decided they would let me go if buy a new day pass for 1800 Pesos but i didn't have that much cash. I said my friend would bring me my credit card. I stayed very calm and compliant. They had me sit near the front door. 40 min later i looked up and no guards were watching the door so i just walked out with a big group of people. Time to bounce to Playa del Carmen =D

At Playa del carmen on Sunday the beach was packed in front of Mamitas Beach club. Several cute mexicanas. I recommend trying that out if you're tired of Oasis or it's not spring break anymore.

So after 3 weeks there, I racked up pretty good numbers. There are lots of cute girls on oasis beach during the day, but due to the endless sausage at any party after sunset, I still have to say Thai Islands are a much better bet.
The last week I was here (The week all the University of California schools are out) was the best week here. The week before, when it was all midwest schools, half the girls were pretty ugly. My first week here (2nd week of march) wasn't bad with NYC and New Jersy girls, but they might to be tougher cookies to crack?
I did end up doing the cheap downtown hostel option - Las Flores. It wasn't that annoying to ride the bus all the way to oasis since R1 goes the entire way from ADO bus station. I just caught up on emails etc during the bus ride.

I am traveling on a very limited budged, I am 45 so generally hostels are out and I look for a cheap Airbnb. I am white, speak minimal Spanish and my game is newbie at best. If I have time I would like to try surfing by day and Salsa by night.

I'm not sure what my itinerary will look like and am open to suggestions, hopefully some of you guys can help me out with some basic information. I've already been to the area and stayed in Cancun (downtown), Isla Mujeres, Merida and Playa Del Carmen. I wasn't a big fan of the first two places and only liked Merida as a place to find a local chica to bring to the beach, Playa was really nice but a bit too commercial and not Mexican enough for my tastes. This trip I'd like to chill more as opposed to partying until the early morning, I definitely want to do more scuba diving and will also be looking for a gym to go to during the day. I'm thinking of posting up in either Cozumel or Tulum for a major part of my two week trip, any thoughts on either of those areas?

What is Christmas time like in Mexico? Do many Mexicans from the big cities flock to the beach towns for the holidays?

Cozumel for sure if you want to chill and focus more on diving, gym etc. Was there twice this year and it is a beautiful spot to chill. Plus if you get a sudden urge to go and party you can take the ferry over to Playa. Cozumel has some of the best diving and snorkeling in the whole world I'd go there for your purposes.

I'm heading down from Dec 21-24. Only 3 nights so I'm sticking to the tourist strip in Cancun. Probably do some surfing and maybe scuba.

I'm in Cozumel right now. Sucks for girls but the diving is the best so I'm working and diving (mostly freediving/spearfishing). I go to Playa every few days to game a bit. But yes, the big secret is Merida, especially if you can open and pull in Spanish. I'm not quite there yet, in the Spanish.

Yes, I'm doing my freedive certification at the end of next week. I have a basically free apartment here so it is 'home base' when I'm in this area. I'm here until January 10th.
