I found the report too harsh.

I worked in London for 5 years (left though 3 years ago) . Everybody has its own experience, I personally stay in the middle ground london for me was not an exeptional town but it opened my mind being my first experience in working abroad from my country, however I wouldn't go back working there as too many things are missing for me.

having said that in the greater london, or to be more precise in the urban area surrounding london there are almost 20 millions people so 1/3 of the UK population so statistically it is impossible not to find something interesting

also nowadays the original english population in london is less than 50% so you have all the race and mix you want but it is not an easy town , you have to work to get in the right place

depends on your tastes, I can spend £2000 a month with ease. My general outflow is close to £1500 a month.
