Never been to SK before, planning to head to Seoul soon for a month.

Is it better to stay in Itaewon or Gangnam?

AirBnB price differences aren't super huge, Gangnam studios definitely look more baller compared to the rather worn looking ones in Itaewon, but I have no idea if taxi drivers cockblock or if a taxi ride is likely to strongly ruin my chances or if the girl will be more likely to head home with me if I'm "living" in Gangnam or turned off by my worn Itaewon studio?

I'll probably go out in Itaewon only from my research.

If you're only going out in Itaewon, get your apartment in Itaewon. Logistics is king everywhere. Bounce them from the place you meet them to bar 2 and then back to your apartment, Itaewon isn't huge, you can do this all by foot if you can rumble game or take a cab if you need to.

Unless your apartment is a straight up pig sty and you seem to be running mostly night game, as long as its decent, a woman who is attracted to you wouldnt let the apartment be too much of an LMR if you don't let her.

Taxi drivers wouldn't cockblock you, they may silently judge you but they wouldn't be outrightly slut shaming your girl into not going back with you, they did stop their vehicle to pick you in the first place.

You blew it the moment she was talking about her guy problems and you didn't lift her up and start cave manning. A drunk 9 (I doubtful she's really a 9, I havent seen one on CS in ages) in your place and your afraid to escalate cause of some unwritten rule?

Most foreigners seem to stay in Itaewon for a reason: Most taxi drivers won't take you, menus in restaurants in other parts of town are all in korean and most people aren't particularly welcoming to foreigners. Those who don't mind foreigners come there. Lots of Korean guys in the nightlife are fairly alpha and definitely not k-pop soyboys. Girls who aren't ugly value their appearance which means makeup and lady like clothing if they aren't hipsters.

The nightlife is probably the craziest I have seen anywhere so far. Still tons of people in the bar and club area of Itaewon at 8am on a Sunday. If you bring aggressive game, dress well and aren't below a 6 in looks you can get laid fairly easily, whether it is with a Korean or with one of the many foreigners around. Don't expect model types in Itaewon though but 7s are doable.

How would you say Korean girls compare when it comes to JUST LOOKS to other Asians but ALSO to white, black girls etc.?

It really depends on personal preferences I think. If you like Asian girls more on the thick side (strong legs, big bones, not fat) it's probably the only place in Asia where you regularly see these types. Lots of black guys like Korean girls for that reason.

Aside from that the tiering in north east Asia for me would be: Japan > Korea > China. English speaking Chinese girls are some of the most approachable but most aren't hot. Next come Koreans in Itaewon, then Japanese who are more natural but don't speak English and aren't all that receptive to foreigners. The usual inverse hotness vs easiness I guess...

I don't compare Asians to other races, I have seen some south east asian 8s working in restaurants here, most white girls here are 5s at best with the occasional English teacher hottie thrown in. I haven't seen attractive black girls here yet.

I assume you’re still in Seoul now. How is Itaewon, Gangnam, or Hongdae during random weekday nights, say Monday - Thursday? Are they still hopping or nah

All of the spots are much tamer during weekdays.

Hongdae and Gangnam are great for day game during the weekdays because girls can approached heavily here on weekends by dudes running night game. They are less approached during the day and you have a better shot at having some decent convo so the chances of flaking is lesser.

Itaewon is much quieter on weekdays but again, this means that whoever is out and alone in Itaewon on a weekday is probably pretty high on the DTF scale.

How I would plan my weeknight out in Seoul would be to collect numbers either at HongDae or Gangnam till about 8-9pm. Then head over to Itaewon to find some lonely girl hanging out or a group of girls. Test their DTF levels and make your pick and run standard SNL game.

I groped her hah, and all Koreans drink a lot. I am not a rapist. I would not risk my acc as I travel a lot. Yes she is a solid 9 , i can PM you if you wish as out of respect i will not post a pic. Koreans work pretty late and often go out for drinks afterwards so you'll see lots of people out having drinks. I don't have time for the nightlife though during the week.

A recap so far: Definetely unimpressed with Seoul in general. The place looks kinda bleak / busto for the most part. What would be considered housing project tier in the west is considered a really nice condo building here.

Seoul looks best at night for the most part and Koreans are just good at making places look good on Instagram but the surroundings of whatever place they took pics at usually look poor.

Eating out can be fairly cheap'ish. Think 12-15k won for a good meal.

Getting to places outside of your area of residence can get fairly expensive quickly if you always cab it or you spend ages on the subway while changing lines half a dozen times.

Korean dudes seem fairly hostile for the most part but I met a couple friendly ones as well.

Korean girls are usually in groups and giggle like schoolgirls. The only more mature ones I met in the nightlife were just super weird.

I wouldn't recommend Seoul for a holiday but if you want to teach English, party on the weekends and get laid there are worse places for sure. It's more of a mid term location which offers a good lifestyle for English teachers (eating out every other day and living in the party area of Itaewon) but not enough to draw first world tourists who are neither catered to or particularly welcome in the "fancier" local areas like Gangnam.

The quality of the girls accessible to you as a foreigner isn't good enough not to choose more laid back places with friendlier people like Bangkok if you aren't coming for work.

Pretty legit info on here. That’s unfortunate to hear that brown guys don’t do well in S. Korea. I’m visiting later this month for 2 weeks and I’m pretty stoked! I have a few korean male and female friends living in Seoul so I’ll be hitting them up. Planning on hitting up Itaewon and hongdae for the first day or two. How well would I do considering I’m with decently good looking k guys (not your Kpop or muscle type look, just normal korean male looking)? As far as looks I’ve been told by western girls that I’m either really cute/handsome/hot (lol) I’m also light brown skin, athletic body type, and super laid back and out going. Only problem is....... I’m 5’6.......which I know being tall is critical in SK, but what I lack in height I feel confident that I make up for in the facial features (eg. sharp jawline, symmetrical face, smaller head
compared to most westerners)

Also Lots of posts on here saying that K guys are cockblockers. Pretty sure my own friends wouldn’t do that but would girls feel more comfortable being approached by us considering my friends are korean guys?

I think the best game in Itaewon is street game on party nights if the temperatures aren't freezing. Much more foot traffic. Clubs are very hit and miss and you can easily spend a hundred bucks just by going to three places. Just get some food in the areas of 보광로60길 firstly, chat up some people and you might end up at all kinds of places with them.

There are plenty of 6'+ korean guys but confidence and game is always key anywhere in the world. The tall ones just have it easier but it doesn't mean you have no shot.

I have never ventured to Hongdae so I can't tell what's going on there.

Depending on the vibes that your friends put out women can still feel judged / put off by them and thus you get cock blocked.

I'll be going to Itaewon and Hongdae at the end of this month. I was in Korea in January, and due to the cold, Hongdae was pretty dead during the night. I'm spending 2 days in both Itaewon and Hongdae--I will be buying a new wardrobe and sightseeing during the day, and trying to see as much of the nightlife as I can in my short time.

I'm thinking of:
Option 1: The Absolute Bar Crawl; I did it last time and had a great experience.
Option 2: International Parties in Hongdae.
Option 3: Meeting up with a forum member.

Does anyone have any experiences with Korean International Parties? Are they worth the time?
How would you spend your night out in Hongdae, (between drinking in the park, watching street performances, and going to bars)?

Back to Korea - "Just Gonna Have a Chill Night" -> Still Hungover

So I am still a little hungover from last night and can't really do anything productive so figured I would write a report

I returned to Korea a couple of weeks ago and haven't been doing much besides sitting in my room trying to make some money

Someone from here that I met the last time I was in Korea is in town and hit me up to go out

To be honest, I don't really have much motivation to hit on chicks right now which is good considering my goals.

Nonetheless, wanted to catch up with my friend ("Mike") so we first met up for dinner/drinks in Itaewon, a popular foreigner district in Seoul.

We had some Korean BBQ/soju and went to a Gangnam (rich Korean area) club that opened recently, Burning Sun, which is owned by a famous K-Pop star (Seungri from Big Bang) that some people say I look like (he's not handsome so I'm not saying I'm handsome):

We couldn't get in without a passport but when we tried the table line, the guard on that line didn't ask for a passport. So if you get a table, it probably doesn't matter (money talks).

Sidenote: Mike said that the famous club Octagon (#5 club in the world or something according to DJ Mag and probably my favorite club in Korea for getting laid*), isn't doing well lately. Apparently, because they were letting in so many foreigners, locals stopped going. If that's true, that might explain things like passport checks (to keep out foreigners) because who carries around their passport when they go out

*Not saying Octagon is easy for getting laid. It's actually really hard lol. I just do well there (probably the majority of my Korean nightlife lays) because I tend to do well at big clubs. Also, I don't find places like Itaewon/Hongdae (student/young foreigner hangout spot) that fun nor do I find them to be as good for one night stands for various reasons

Anyway, we weren't going to get a table at Burning Sun (it's in Gangnam - the same place from the song "Gangnam Style" - where everything is more expensive) and another guy I know ("Dragon") met us outside Burning Sun while we figured out what to do.

Mike said he knew of a club that had branches in basically every nightlife district so we decided to grab a cab there.

On the way there, we passed Octagon, which had a long line so I guess they're doing ok lol

When we got to the club the line was pretty long (one line for girls and one line for guys) and there was something even more unbelievable:

The ratio was insane

I'm not joking when I say that the guy line was maybe 10 people including us while the girl line was like 50+. Granted, the girls weren't super hot - it actually reminded me of the Hongdae crowd - young and mostly "cute".

I wasn't sure what was going on though because they were letting in tons of girls and the guy line wasn't moving at all (maybe like 100 girls went in, then 1 guy - not really but you get the point)

Since I didn't want to wait and then be told that we couldn't get in unless we had a passport, I asked the bouncer what the deal was and he said we needed a passport. Fuck!

At that point it was probably already ~1 or so so we were contemplating calling it a night. However, I was curious about this club because of how the line looked.

I asked a girl coming out if there were a lot of dudes in there or something since the guy line wasn't moving, and she said the club was actually pretty empty and that there were cute girls haha.

Anyway, the guy line started to move so we tried going on line one more time and when the bouncer asked for passports, I tried slipping him 10,000 won (~$10), but he said no lol

We went to the convenience store nearby to get some water and I got some soju (~$1.50 for a bottle) that me and Dragon split


Tastes like shit and gives you the worst hangovers, but it's cheap.

I still wanted to see what the deal was with this club so we got on the table line and I asked if we could get a table. Apparently there was a table available and we got stamped and went into the club.

We were kind of confused because we didn't pay or anything upfront and that's when me and Mike were like fuck it, let's just try to blend in and hope we don't get tackled by the bouncers.

We noticed a guy following us (likely a waiter or host or whatever) and lost him in the crowd.

We were kind of paranoid that the staff were gonna come after us haha and even saw the bouncers from the line pushing through the crowd at one point (maybe looking for us but who knows). After a while it was chill tho (apparently Dragon got caught and escorted out tho).

Mike and I got drinks and we were just chillin. I didn't really approach any girls because like I said I'm not really motivated these days. Plus I've been there and done that with regards to Korea - been out so many times here and banged a bunch of Korean girls in my life

We eventually got a good spot to just chill and watch the crowd; it was pretty cool:

It was pretty funny - a couple of times Mike and I thought chicks were hovering around me/him, but every time that I went to approach one, she would get approached by some Korean guy first (the typical approach being, "I have a table, come and drink" - what girl is gonna say no to free drinks)

Anyway, I had noticed that the bartenders would just pour shots and just leave them at the bar (I guess so they didn't have to do it later?). SWIM decided to take these shots and pour them into SWIM's glass when the bartender(s) weren't looking. SWIM did this at least a few times and got free tequila, whiskey, etc.

Eventually Mike said he was going home so we went outside. I went to the convenience store and got some munchies - also hit on some girls but none of it went anywhere

After Mike left, I decided to stick around a bit longer.

I approached some chick outside. It was strange - she couldn't speak any language perfectly. I think her parents were diplomats or something so I guess she never was able to master a language. Her Korean had even more of an accent than mine

Eventually her friends showed up and I was able to get us all in (surprised the staff didn't recognize me/kick me out) and one of the promoter chicks hooked us up with some drinks.

How old are you? Age is important in determining the best place to stay, because some clubs don't allow guys below 30, some don't allow guys above 40, etc.
And it depends on neighborhood location
