Mission to Moscow

Any indications on how Americans are generally received vs. English/Western Europeans?

It has the nature of a cosmopolitan city yet it is not cosmopolitan in the sense that there are only Russians here. This is good because foreigners are extremely rare which gives me instant status but bad because English is not widely spoken.

Ultimately it comes down to the person but I guess they just like the idea of "London" or "New york". I have not been here long enough to know stuff like that yet.

Gadabout, wouldn't you say the more cosmopolitan/interesting sort of people speak english? I found that, for sure. I find that everywhere. Like it or not, it is the international language and if you want to travel, that is the language you are going to be speaking if you are Russian.

There is so much bad rep regarding Russia. There is no way anyone can describe it to you or explain it to you unless you have been there and experienced it for yourself. There are too many stereotypes and prejudices against the place for people to really know what to make of the place who haven't been there. It is very grandiose and larger than life...

This opener I think would work very well in Russia and the reactions to it would likely reprogram your brain! It is the *last* thing they would be expecting, yet I would expect however, many girls would not skip a beat.

If you've ever seen this doco, the guy randomly goes up to women, and asks to have sex with them, turns out he get the number of this Russian women... and I will not spoil the rest.

1. How was the processes of getting the visa? You are British right? Do you still have to register in every hotel you stay etc.? How was the border crossing at the airport? Did they ask about the purpose of your travel..etc?

2. The video of Moscow metro on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3-EZVEJSvw - gives you an idea of what it looks like. Funny place- you can make eye contact with girls knowing they will be gone in 3-4 seconds. You get the most amazing smiles...

3. When I was there they always had "face control" at the clubs. You had to be dressed really well or look rich, I don't know. I never got in the club...lol.

I'm 18 years old and girls are really easy for me here, I've picked up a 26 year old who was an 8 and an 18 year old who was a 7.5 when I was in Moscow. I was just visiting a family member and didn't even go out of my way to pick them up, they initiated. I kept in touch with the 26 year old and apparently she's going to marry a 40 something year old guy who works in the FSB (KGB). He's been divorced twice and has a 20 year old daughter and two other kids 3 and 5 years old. I asked her why she would marry him when she's going to get her ass thrown out in 5-10 years and she said "I can't find a good man" I hope she doesn't get divorced, but if she does I'll be laughing my ass off when she's 35 years old with a kid and no husband...Bitches be stupid and crazy

Even actors or rich men have trouble getting into some of the top clubs...

Yeah, I noticed that too... (I was only there two days) You could easily do indirect game there. Once I had to ask directions, because everything is Cyrillic, and I was in a major hurry!

You are in a city of millions of beautiful women. Even the pharmacist assistant in her mid 30's is completely adorable!

I noticed in another EE country that the pharmacists are hot too. At least 1/3 od the young ones are 7+. I think they are sweet, fairly bright ( more middle class type than hairdressers) and helpful but don't have masculine ambition to be a doctor...just speculation. But if you think of it the triumvirate of smart, humble and helpful is a very nice group of characteristics in a woman. If she's helpful, hopefully she'll use her smarts to tolerate your idiosyncrasies rather than scheme against you for tennis bracelets.

Also, you have a good excuse to talk to them. One thing I noticed was that Russian adhesive tape ( like the stuff you strap gauze on with if you have a scrape) is really high quality. It is made of tough, finely woven fabric with strong adhesive.

Then I started thinking about why this particular product stands out in Russia/FSU as superior, and it was depressing to think of all the war injuries there have been in the last century.
They really needed good medical adhesive tape there. This is what it is like when you think too much!

I talked to one for a bit about the job prospects, etc. how hard the school was. She said the situation was that if you finished the pharmacy course (forgot how long it takes) you were pretty sure of getting a job. It wouldn't be very high pay, but better than regular retail, like chix that work in coffee shops.
The pharmacy girls impressed me as a little brighter, having more conversational ability, and understanding that the fact that you are there in their city coming from England or USA means you have something on the ball ( a few thousand to waste!.)

I think LTR guys want someone with a little ability to converse, have something besides big boobs, and there are serious intellectual girls in EE and Russia, but it's nice to at least get a para-professional if you want to tolerate her for a few years. Probably more likely to be bi as well.

To answer a few questions:

A Complete History of My Sexual Failures:
Yes I have seen that complete failures film. He pulls the Russian girl in London however. If a Russian girl speaks English it's game on. That is why you have to turn over a lot of stones here to find the English speaking one. But on the plus side there are a lot of stones.

face control:
Yes "face control" is part of the culture here. I have had no problems getting in anywhere and I went to one of the most prestigious parties in Moscow last week. I speak in English, I dress well and am good looking so I cannot speak for eveybody I am afraid. Having said that I will NOT be going to anymore highclass venues.

monthly rent:
In the center it is about 2000 euros a month.

hot girls : )
yes hot girls are everywhere including the pharmacy : ). I went to pick up my registration card yesterday and 3 8's were working a shitty desk job in some high-rise building on the outskirts somewhere. I'd be hard-pressed to find an 8 in any desk job in London.

Visa:
Visa was a piece of cake. I paid this company £120 for a 7 day turn around. http://www.realrussia.co.uk/
If you stay in one place for longer than a week you need to register your visa. I did this at their moscow office which cost £15.

I have heard great things about Moscow but on this site it never gets the full thumbs up. Alot has been made in the past about the neo-nazi's etc, yet I knew a Nigerian who lived there for close to ten years without any incident.

Don't worry about being beaten up by nazi thugs. That's highly unlikely. Those guys tend to target African students and people from poorer FSU republics. A well turned out,and obvious western tourist as your self will not be beaten up on the subway. Your problem will be getting laid. Being black means you're going to have the vast majority of girls automatically rule you out as a potential partner, especially if you're not running social circle and there for a long time. I've known black dudes there who have had local LTR's but they were studying and hence had great Russian and were there for years.

Russia is inherently racist however there are famous black people in Russia who have made a name for themselves and are highly respected. There are black actors and singers who are mostly ex-students who have made it there. Pushkin the darling of Russian literature was part black. There is a black guy who was in the Russian 'X Factor' years ago,P'er Nartsiss. He married and had a kid with a local hottie if I recall correctly. I've seen him on the bill with big Russian stars like Kirkorov and Leontiv so whilst Russia is racist it needs a little perspective. It's not Germany in the 1930's. You won't get killed, you just won't get laid with decent talent in most likelihood either.

I didn't think foreigners were rare. Maybe because when I stayed in Moscow it was at a business hotel that had 90% foreigners staying there.
In the restaurants around it - quite a few foreigners, too. Every place had menus in English.

But even if that were so, how does being a foreigner give you status? This is not Belarus or Moldova where locals make $200 a month so any foreigner is perceived as rich and high-status. This is Moscow, one of the most expensive cities in the world. In the fucking subway I saw an ad looking for train operators which said starting salary per month is 60k rubles, which is around $2k. Blue collar job. And higher than the cash Roosh was spending during his EE tour.
In the center, almost every building you step in is decorated with marble, glass, granite, wood carvings - these people are flashy, and have the cash to throw around. Plus they are really proud of their national identity. So I don't think a foreigner is more attractive to girls just by being a foreigner. You have to have some other kind of edge.

Nice link. SO many options I am going to burn myself out. I just need one hot tip and I'm good. As it is I am working hard day and night to find the best options to make the most of this trip.
Before anybody starts booking their tickets I would wait on my conclusions after 4 weeks.

I have not seen any other tourists but I am living in a rented apartment. Also I have not met any in the clubs or bars... yet!
Maybe 'status' was the wrong word.. but I have exotic factor to a degree. I look different and as I said before "London" just sounds cool to them. In the same way that "Moscow" sounds cool to me.
I get a lot of looks on the street. People are not afraid of eye contact here compared to other cities I have been in. I am not saying that me being foreign makes me like some kind of king but it helps me stand out from the crowd. It is not always about money!!!

I am not declaring paradise yet either as I am pretty much back to square 1 !

It is like Tokyo, yes, there are foreigners are around, quite a lot of them in fact. They are just drowned out by the sheer numbers of locals.

I noticed the exotic factor when I was there too.

I would go to St Petersburg for the girls (or other big cities in Russia, problem being 2nd-3rd tier= much less english speakers!)

St Petersburg is said to be more chilled out, home to more artists, is more europeans and less money/status driven.

As they say, Moscow isn't Russia, just like NYC isn't a good representation of what the U.S.A is like.

I came to Moscow because it was the best shot I had coming to Russia with only English. I was warned of St petersburg by a friend who said in his 3 weeks there not one person uttered a word. Alot of the girls I have met are usually from the outskirts and their English is surprisingly good. Spoke to a curious looking model from Siberia yesterday who looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights. Obviously her first time in Moscow but very sweet and polite.
I watched this last night. You can download from itunes for a couple of quid. http://www.girlmodelthemovie.com/
Pretty interesting about a model scout who travels across the Siberia picking up girls to model in Japan. It's pretty dark actually.

HAving said that I thought that about Lithuania as well and they speak English! THe difference is like any capital city is the shear amount. So you would never need to worry about endlessly approaching girls. In vilnius you would exhaust the place in about 2 months. Especially the clubs.

You should try to go together with a guy that speaks Russian, it'll be so much easier.

Something like 1,500 USD per month would get you a very decent place close to action.

Russians/Caucasus folk [esp. and in particular the new rich] lack one thing, CLASS, they are still peasant-stock farmer types, and vulgar to boot.
