Why no mention of hollywood clubs like greystone?

These days, I only go to places I can cab to for $20 or less. Mainly South Bay or Venice/Santa Monica. Sometimes I go downtown, but that's when I crash at a buddy's pad near there and don't drive.

Plus I grew tired of the whole door scene out there. I won't go anywhere that I have to wait in a line or that has a list I may or may not be on.

Yesterday, a buddy and I hit Dtown. We were supposed to go to 7th and grand (usually pretty good imo).

But, we ended up bribing our way into "The Vault" nightclub. We got there around 11.30, and walked to the side door on 8th street. Bribed the bouncer 15 buxs/head and skip a 45+ min line. 96.3 fm was promoting yesterday.

3 dancefloors, lots of latinas! I would give it a solid B-. Met this sexy 1/2 chinese 1/4 black 1/4 mexican girl upstairs, but lost traction because I can't salsa dance. Walked in there, and some girl grabbed my cock in the first 2 mins. Be prepared for a lot of physical contact.

Overall, decent layout, decent music, large indoor smoking area in the back, and overall receptive girls. Cons- latinas can be fatties

Hot tip for the boys:

Should be a good gig tonight for anyone in LA.

Holiday party season is in full swing.

Went to happy endings last night for a b-day. Pretty shitty choice imo.

Man, its rough being back in LA after going to thailand/taiwan. I was pulling every night/every other night there and good quality too.

Coming back, 1st impression is wow, fatties...and there are a lot of dudes here and the girls look all uppity.

Ended up making a few laps over the night, approaching a few cute girls and having it go nowhere. Spent most of the night playing pool w/the hustlers and won a few games. Ever since thailand been hooked because playing pool at Soi Cowboy w/hustlers, locals, prostitutes, and "customers" is hysterical funny and great.

Ill leave you guys with 1 funny story. Was making a lap around the bar, and this large, portly latin girl bumps into me aggresively. I turn and shes smiling at me and making "come hither eyes". I ignore her. Chat w/the cute girl on my right. Then this porty girl bumps me again, then interjects into my conversation w/hottie and asks her if shes my GF.

WTF, lol. With the conversation ruined at this point, I scrambled from that area and retreated to the pool tables. At the end of the night, she tried initiating w/me again. Bumping me, punching my ass, and grabbing my hand. I just played dead fish and didnt respond or say a single thing to her the whole night.

She apparently didnt get the message .

Fatties, few cute girls and lots of dudes fighting over mediocre quality girls. It was a pathetic sight to see.

I get your point.

And I would never defend LA's nightlife, or West Coast nightlife in general.

But let's be honest, in LA's defense, it is not like you were hitting up one of LA's top nightlife venues.

I wouldn't step in that place for 100k.

@Gmanifesto - Greystone is legit. Passed by a few saturdays ago at night and the parking lot was packed with wanna be models trying to get in. I made a veiled attempt at dropping some names to get in but that went nowhere. Bouncer wanted 200/head for him to let us in. Absurd. But the talent there was off the shelf, best I've seen in a while.

@DVY - when I came back from my last Europe trip I went to Hudson happy hour and was utterly disgusted. I wanted to punch everyone in the face for how ugly they were and how shitty they dressed. Couldn't believe these guys talking to these 6 and below girls. LA really sucks, it just does. The top places (aka Greystone) you have star fuckers and bottle whores, then you get into the hipster venues and I just can't make myself put on a fedora, skinny jeans and colorful jacket while twirling my 60s porn mustache, talking about existential angst just to get some P...

At least it's still better than OC. But I'm reaching a boiling point with LA. I'm starting to realize the city is just not "me." As far as I'm concerned, the more east you go it just keeps getting better. Go a bit east and you have Vegas, then Chicago, then NYC (best place in USA), then you get into Western Europe, then you hit Poland, Ukraine and of course it all peaks by ending at mother Russia.

Yeah, I hear you.

It is very possible that I may never go out in Los Angeles ever again. It is just so half-a**ed.

I like Asia more. That being said, I consider LA sushi to be among the best I have ever had. Fantastic climate. Good money. Good proximity to other wealthy individuals. Lots of good-paying jobs here.

I haven't given up on my hometown yet, but lets just say its not looking so hot compared to San Francisco (where I went to grad school) or any major metropolitan city in Asia. Taipei nightlife ends at 5am, afterhours ends at 7.30. Bangkok goodness, clubs close at 2am, afterhours at 5am, after-after hours at 8am, then after-after-after hours at noon. TBH, prime hours is midnight to 4am bangkok.

Some of the regular thai girls told me that when they have a day off they go straight from work 11pm until noon the next day. I have stamina partying, but god-damm thats a whole another level. Me, come 5-6 am I either want to smash or sleep.

After partying like that, 1.30am last call seems like kid's play.

But unto the positive, Downtown has been my favorite so far in LA. Whats your take slubu?

L.A. ain't no party town. Afterall, it's still an American city, and Americans are a work-first type of people. It's ok by American standards, but that ain't saying much. Luckily Vegas is just a short hop away and you can get your fill of world class nightlife and 24hr debauchery, if Vegas is your thing.

Hence why Las Vegas even exists.

If Los Angeles would step up it's Game, Las Vegas would be an abandoned wastland in the desert.

I can't remember the figures exactly but I remember a massive percentage of revenue of Las Vegas comes from Southern California. Like the lion's share.

That's why one swoop in Vegas is worth two. If you're from LA, she probably is too, and you get to swoop her again when you get home.

Yeah, if you live in Southern California, you should be going to Las Vegas at least 4 times per year.

That's what I did.

No one here has claimed it's a shithole with fatties everywhere. I'd say the percentage of fat people is lower here than average, Mexican girls non-withstanding.

If you're interested, you should fly out for a week, get a feel for it and see if it's for you. There's no reason you can't have a blast here. But it WILL be tougher than middle America as competition for quality talent is especially stiff. Maybe second to South Beach, Miami.

Where do you live now? As a whole I love Los Angeles. There is so much more to the city than just gaming women. Weather is great, awesome food, it one of the most creative cities in the world. Lot's of sub-cultures to explore. Enough cultural and outdoor activities to keep you busy for years.

well according to the last few posts, theres fatties everywhere unless you can get into the super exclusive clubs lol Never been to miami either =/ As for competition wise, Idk I have seen ppl claiming NYC is tough too, but i did pretty good there, although I got rejected trying go to a super exclusive club unless I paid $100... I always seem to do better when I visit a big city... Middle America sucks, unless you are in chicago or a college town, hot girls are hard to come by, NYC had hotties everywhere, which is what I heard about LA too

I live in a college town in mid west, which i'm desperately trying to get out of lol I love to travel and been to a few places and always did well (except in Toronto) and I enjoy a big city atmosphere... hopefully I can get a job in LA... but a few more posts about the club life in LA would be helpful, especially the good ones that arent super exclusive =)

When people are dissing LA, they are just comparing it to places that are better.

LA can easily fall into the "overrated" category because it has such a huge reputation.

I consider LA to be one of the prototypical wastelands of North America. Watching rush hour traffic on the 405 and the sight of suburbs and strip malls that extend to infinity is one of the most profoundly depressing things I've ever laid eyes upon.

In all fairness, many mega-cities (for example, Sao Paulo or Manila or Seoul) are equally ugly.

On the other hand, the silver lining is that mega-cities are filled with customers (of all types) ready to buy and consume to ease the numbing pain of living in an over-sized concrete jungle. Great places to market, sell, earn....and shop & eat, if that's your thing.

I take the 405 everyday from valley to westside and back during rush hour. Its pure agony.

I need to move to west-side immediately, but I like to be close to my parents. Ahhh the dilemna of the ages.

I've been to quite a few places in LA, but it's a big city so it's really hard to encompass every venue. Most of the partying is in Hollywood, which in my opinion is the best in the city and surrounding areas.

Greystone: hit or miss on weekends. Thursdays and Saturdays are the best nights. They face control and screen big time here. It's a SBE property and probably one of the better venues during the weekends. Some of the hottest girls in LA. Bottle service oriented which is lame in my opinion, but I happen to know promoters with tables and girls so if you can't fight em, join em. Mixed crowd of women. I see mainly white, persian, latina, sprinkling of asians, and a few black girls. Usually have celebrity's with tables or headliner DJ's/musicians. Without hot girls or dropping 1K for a table, you probably aren't getting in.

Lure: Thursdays and Saturdays are the best. Fridays are asian/lower tier promoter nights. Indoor and some outdoor on Thursdays and 90% outdoor on Saturdays. Hottest girls in the club scene. Rivals Greystone on Saturdays. I've met beautiful Colombianas, minor celebrities, athletes, and the beautiful girl next door blonde all in the same night. Bottle service oriented but you can probably get away hanging about, but it isn't that comfortable. Face control on Thursdays and Saturdays. They pay the doorman well so they don't except tips. Bring hot girls and you might slip in.

SLS Hotel lobby/Bazaar: more of a touristy crowd on the weekends, but decent talent. Lot of classy women having dinner or a cocktail at the bar. Seating is limited, but the drinks are refreshing spin on classics. Free and no typical club type of bullshit to get in. Park across the street and walk in, valet is usually overpriced and takes forever. Bazaar has decent tapas and food and if you're into Persian girls, there are quite a few that frequent the place. SBE Property and great place to pull if you have a room upstairs.

Supperclub: Wednesdays and Friday nights. Saturdays are the bridge and tunnel crowd getting drunk and driving back to the Valley types, super packed on Saturdays. Good mixed crowd. They do have a standard and look for properly dressed people. Not super hard to get in, but they will charge 50 cover to get in if you don't know who or how to get in. Usually have a lot of headliner/popular local djs. Good mix of local young Hollywood crowd during weekdays and weekends only some times. Decent girls, used to be a lot better a couple years ago.

Roxbury: used to be decent on Saturdays. They have since changed promotional companies and it has slid down hill. Mainly minorities now, used to be decent. I ran into Ron Jeremy here, playmates, actors from Game of Thrones, and Dev Patel from slumdog millionaire at my table. It will probably be reopened again soon so who knows.

Hemmingways: SBE property. Not hard to get in, more of a trendy hipster bar but with decent drinks like absinthe blackberry champagne concoctions. Hot hipster chicks that have never read a Hemmingway book ever. Dark and more intimate, cool vibe, hit or miss on the weekends. I would recommend Tuesdays.

Blok: hip hop club. The face control has been more relaxed since first opened because they changed doormen. Tuesdays and Fridays are the best nights in that order. Good young hollywood type crowd. Smaller venue with bottle service oriented layout. Energy is high and it's refreshing to hear hip hop instead of EDM blasting with a hot mixed crowd. Not your typical hip hop club crowd, a lot more whites and latinas. On a good night, this place reminds me of Mynt in Miami Beach. Lots of hot down to earth local girls.

Hyde: intimate and table oriented. Small, but that means they are very strict on who they let in. It's usually always a classy crowd of good looking people. If you're in, it's easy to open because they screen so well. Used to be a hollywood celeb hangout, but no longer is. Decent place to stop by for an "artisan" cocktail and meet a few women before going to a larger venue. Decent Saturdays and some weekdays when they have special events.

W Hotel lobby bar + outside tent (sundays jazz night): Free, mellow vibe, mainly locals and decent women. No face control and they let pretty much anyone in if theyre dressed appropriately.

Drais's (rooftop club/lounge/restaurant) in W hollywood: used to be decent crowd but has since had a change in management. Crowd is the "bridge and tunnel crowd" aka Riverside and OC crowd of predominantly minorities. They like to charge a 20-40 dollar cover and push tables. I have a contact at drais but I no longer patronize the place due to the dwindling standards.

El Floridita: solid salsa club with decent Cuban food and a live salsa band on the weekends. The vibrations on the wooden dance floor is so much more enjoyable to the typical DJ with speakers. Legit spot and has been for years. Smaller venue but the energy and people are really positive.

Mayan: downtown LA. Not hard to get in, lots of latinas. Some only speak Spanish. Mexican girls recently from Mexico and some 1st generation living in LA. Salsa in a hot upper area, hiptop and reggaeton in the main section. Massive older theater style club with a basement for more Americanized hip top music. Hit or miss, usually miss, but some decent latinas occasionally.

Saddleranch: laughable touristy crowd and out of towner types. Place is a joke filled with badly dressed weirdos getting drunk. Skip.

Playhouse: Used to decent as far as the crowd goes, now its mainly minorities and college age types frequenting the venue. Security is very easy to bribe to get in. The place is slipping and I'm expecting it to be revamped or managed by a different group soon.

Beso: the attic lounge they have is a joke. It's dinky, but easy to get in. Quality of women I'm sure has dropped. This is no longer a hot spot.

Avalon: decent afterhours if you're into EDM. Last call is 2am, but they go until 5-6am. Lots of asians on ecstasy and out of towners. Middle easterns frequent the place as well. Ratio of women to men is not in your favor, however it's one of the few after hour clubs in the area. It's a large theater setup that has been remodeled a couple times. Sundays used to be 18+ electronic music night with a decent crowd of hot youngins not drinking. Like fishing with dynamite.

Vanguard: pass, this place has had it's good moments, but they've passed a long time ago. Agency on top is another story and sometimes decent on Thursdays.

More data to come...

Octane is spot on here..

Tip on getting into Greystone/Lure... GET THERE EARLY, as in, be there right at 10pm. Go solo. If you're going with chicks, they better be hot, because mediocre ones won't help you.

At that point, it's up to the face control as Octane said. Dress well and look the part and at least now you're giving it your best shot.
