The Iphone 4s is the first Iphone I have gotten and it is far superior to the HTC Touch Pro and Touch pro 2 I had...and the EVO.
I've never missed the huge screen or anything

In case people don't know, iOS 6 will be released tomorrow. If you have a 3GS or higher, you can upgrade, but not all of the features will be available (depends on your phone).

My iPhone 5 is sitting on my doorstep. Bad things about iOS6: because there is no more YouTube app as in iOS5, you have to download the YouTube app that Google just made, and this app does NOT support AirPlay (it only does mirroring).

I'm considering getting an iphone 4 if the price drops. Had bad luck with 2 Motorola phones, and the Galaxy S2 didn't hold up well as far as hardware. Fucked up phones has cost me a lot of bangs.

I have not upgraded to iOS 6 yet. I want to hear some comments here regarding it.

I upgraded to the 5 from a 3GS. Significantly different and way faster. Really like the LTE on the phone too.
A little irritated by the youtube app as well though.

I upgraded this morning. No complaints so far on 4s.
You can jailbreak the 4 with the A4 chip it with redsn0w.
4s is not supported yet.

Don't upgrade to iOS 6 if you rely on GoogleMaps. iOS 6 has a native Apple app which is chock full of mistakes according to reports and has no public transit directions.

Were you upgrading from the 4S? Did you have to get in line at 5AM at the Apple Store?

Yeah, I upgraded from the 4s. I wasn't going to, until I realized I could sell my 4s 32gb for $300 on eBay. To get out of my sprint contract was $240, so that was a net gain. I just got the 16gb model for $215 with a Verizon contract as that is all I need. I didn't really plan on getting one today, but my coworker went to radio shack and they had inventory in stock (before the preorders even arrived) and I thought "what a lucky day." So I walked three blocks and bought one. No lines.
I fucking love it.
Sounds good. Glad you're enjoying it. I think I'm gonna wait it out as the LG Optimus G and Droid Razr Maxx HD are due out this Fall, too. But the iPhone is definitely in my Top 3. Verizon is already pushing the pre-orders back until October from what I hear, so to walk in the day of it's release at a time other than 5AM and get a device was a score for you. Nice work.

I have a couple questions. I have an iphone 4 is it worth it to get a 4s? If I update my phone will it screw my unlock up? Is there anyway to get a stronger signal? My house has a metal roof. Half of the cell providers wont get any signal at all in my house.

Mechanico, IMO don't upgrade to 4S just for signals , I upgraded fro 3S to 4S and my 3S had better signals then 4S. Yes 4S is faster when websurfing.
I think I-Phone 4 is the best International Player phone at the moment, considering the ease of SIM exchange world wide and unlocking and Jailbraking and tethering for Internet, correct me if wrong.
Here is a question I have for the advanced I Phone players, Parlay take a shot at this. I have a I Phone 4S
1. Can the SIM be changed as easily as for 4 and use it Internationally as well ?
2. IS unlocking and Jailbreaking a problem ?
3. Can I use it to tether ?

em,
Unlocking is phone-specific. If you get new phone you will have to get it unlocked as well. Supposedly the iPhone 5 has better antenna, but there is no way for me to verify that, especially with your special roofing conditions. If you have a 4 (which is what I had), I would just go up to a 5.
Lothario,
1. iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S have the same kinds of SIM, which is easy to use internationally (I did this with an iPhone 4 in Asia; no problems at all). Just bring a paperclip with you so it's easy to pop out the SIM whenever you want (I kept one in my wallet).
2. Jailbreaking not a problem usually. Unlocking can be done officially from your provider for free if you have had the iPhone past your contract period (that's what I did). It is also possible to pay to have your iPhone unlocked (different from hacks) such that it will remain unlocked when you update the iOS. I know someone who bought an iPhone in the US from AT&T under contract and got it unlocked fully in India for $70. I'm sure similar and/or cheaper options are available in other countries or the US.
3. In the US tethering requires the purchase of a tethering data plan. In foreign countries this may not be necessary, and in principle you should be able to tether, although I have not tried it.

Bought it played with it, on the way back to Apple:
here's why I returned it:
Anodized Aluminium: A return to the bad old days of scratchy back phones and premature ageing. And to exacerbate matters, their is a shiny under skin, which will just exacerbate it.I don't want to have to handle my phone with kid gloves. For a $749 device, I expect scratch resistance treatment at the least
Apple maps I think everyone knows the situation, just not good enough. I really don't see a quick fix
No NFC Not a biggie at the moment, but this is something that is quickly going to catch up in the next year or so. Way to go Apple with the built in obsolescence.
LTE Again, not a big thing yet, particularly in the UK, but again, once the licenses are issued will be a big thing next year. The fact that it doesn't support the bands used by the biggest providers here is a joke
But to be honest, I probably could quite easily look over any of the above
problems, the big big one for me.......................
It's boring. The frission of excitement i got from the iphone/3g/4/4s isn't there.
Yes it's a bit faster, a bit bigger, a bit lighter a bit better. But nothing earth shattering to grab me by the googlies and make me part my money.
I think I am going to hold on to the 4s, it's doing me proud. See what the 5s will bring
However, I have to say Nokia 920 is proper turning my head at the moment. Thre's a big question mark with regards to Apps, bu apart from that the phone is bringing more apple then aspple to the table.
I am no gentleman
