Looks like you are saying that steroids aren't bad for you. So my argument is based on something you said.

The reason I bring Steve Michalik up is because he was in the documentary "The Man Whose Arms Exploded". The key point that he makes is that once you get off the juice, you lose your gains, and your body has difficulty readjusting to making it's own testosterone again. So you start to feel down because you don't look or feel like you used to. This fuels a vicious cycle that can destroy your body and your life.

If you don't give a shit about yourself 30 years from now, go for it. If it's one thing that Zyzz proves it's that it's better to burn out than to fade away.

It is a tragedy to die so young and full of life. Dude no doubt has a superb physique, but *far from* the best body to pick up girls in my opinion.

I'd much rather look like this baseball player (and I sort of do, without the extra 4 inches of height). I'm betting he'd get laid 3x as much (based on appearance alone).

He has big muscles, a long lean frame, excellent size, and superb definition without his skin looking too stretched paper thin.

I like Zyzz since he lived the dream and did more in 23 years than most do ever (fitness-wise; Lay-wise, probably too). It sucks that he died young.

Honestly to me he seemed like a fairly insecure narcissist.. didnt seem like a happy guy really despite the facade. Am I speculating and maybe wrong, yeah - but I know a couple of guys at home who're obsessed with gym and looking perfectly Adonis-like and with similar vibes, so it's IMO a fair guess. I admit his physique was a masterpiece though.

I have a question. And it's a serious question, not a troll attempt. Are there any guys over 30 who can explain the appeal of this guy to me. Like I said, I'm not trying to hate on this guy or anybody who likes him. I'm seriously trying to understand what it is that he does. Obviously, he worked hard and had the discipline to develop that physique. Beyond that, however, I don't really understand what people mean when they say that he's talented or even charismatic. He is charismatic in the same way that a hot chick is charismatic. His whole vibe is very feminine to me actually.

He's a guy with a nice body who's not afraid to run around and have fun. He's talented in the same way that Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian are talented. Good for them. I'm not going to knock their hustle, but I admit that I really don't understand the appeal. Like saying that he invented "u mirin," what does that mean? Are online catch phrases inventions? The light bulb is an invention.

I think it's just a generation thing, but I cannot get my head around the whole idea of an internet celebrity.

You mirin and "come at me bro" is wonderful marketing skills.

Marketing is just as important as a light bulb for financial success. I can bet the best players you know have their own ability to come up with cool tags on things. Just look up Nicola Tesla, great ideas awful people skills and no one knows who he is now... People only remember Edison.

Who was smarter the got milk commercial guys or the guys who invented beanie babies? The got milk guys wreck shop now and are mega rich.

Advertising/marketing is just as important as numbers and other inventions. If your message falls on deaf ears you have no message.

If you can't sell the cure for cancer how you going to get laid?

I get that. I used to work in marketing. I just don't get what this guy is actually marketing. What's his product? Himself? OK, but what is his value added to me.

I read Roosh because he's a good writer and I learn things from reading his blog and coming to this forum. What I'm trying to figure out is what would I learn from watching this guy's videos or reading his posts on random forums?

I guess specifically for you or anyone else he had a few posts on not giving a fuck. There is a clear one where he says something along the lines of "most people live 9-5 lives and never do what they want" something to that effect.

Think about it like this, the guy was 21-23 obviously not wealthy, just hit something he loved. Hit it hard.

I'd wager that the majority of people can't say they did something they enjoyed and also got laid. Biggest takeaway for me was how to be charismatic. Even older dudes post his death said he was a cool guy. Most people can't even look in the mirror and honestly say "i would totally hang out with myself".

Plus the dude used to be skinny as all hell, I'd use him as a gut check. Am I really maxing my physique or not? Am I really just quitting or did I really make myself look perfect.

To top all that off he helped people get interested in being in shape as one guy already mentioned in this forum so yeah he was a real man. 1. Helped 2. Did what he wanted 3. Lived outside society's beliefs

As a performer this guy is impressive and a model for marketing (though he failed to capitalize on it). As a person... A resounding meh.

The cult around him in /fit where he had his breakthrough was remarkably homoerotic. I used to hang there back when I was investing every moment awake to game.

I've also had similar lessons passed on to me by men in their 40's and beyond. They all say the same thing: Don't use steriods, don't use growth hormones, don't fuck with your body.

Even though they all used it themselves when young.

Then they tell me horrible stories about guys who die of heart attacks, guys who have medical complications for life, and one insane story of a guy who used a HGH for years and had a heart three times the size of a normal heart.

On the other hand, I know a guy in his 70's who has testosterone injected into him every two weeks because of a deficiency. He's not jacked or anything, but he tells him that it makes him feel alive, young, and full of energy.

Clearly there must be a middle ground. One of the most famous chemists of history made the famous observation:

"All things are poison, and nothing is without poison; only the dose permits something not to be poisonous."

In other words, "The dose makes the poison." Water kills you in a large enough dose.

But, due to the hysteria surrounding steroids, instead of genuine knowledge all we get is superstition and fear. It reminds me of the kind of shit people would execute scientists in the Middle Ages for.

I really wonder if steriods, used in the right quantities, would enhance any man's life?

Watch Bigger, Faster, Stronger for a fair treatment of steroids.

People like the guy talking about heroine are no different to me than hysterical house wives who spread tales about boogey men.

Fucking could get you AIDS, a a baby mama, or a false rape case. Fucking is dangerous. Fucking is also one of the best experiences in the world.

Most fun things in life are dangerous.

Life is about responsibly managing those dangers.

Lou Ferrigno is still pumping iron at Gold's in Venice. He looks great.

Arnold is fine. Frank Zane looks great.

Instead of relying on media hysteria (which is driven by women), watch the film Pumping Iron.

Then create a "dead list." Who is dead and who is fine?

Most of the guys from Pumping Iron are still around.

The guys who died from steroids were all on other drugs.

It should come as no surprise that those who engage in a narcissistic past time like bodybuilding are pleasure seekers in other areas, and thus down GHB, coke, e, and everything else.

Yet when those guys die, steroids are blamed.

Think things through rather than blindly believe the media.

Never heard of this dude until now. Very interesting, great physique.

Too bad he died about at 22, from steroids and other drugs??? Who knows?

Why was he famous? He looked great, he didn't give a fuck, he marketed himself well. Thats all you need to be famous. Being good looking is a talent. Working hard is a talent. Not giving a fuck is a talent. He put the work in, he got results.

Most famous people are not even very talented. They cultivated their fame. That is their talent.

Like the great Gene Simmons said....""All that matters is fame, not skill or talent"

This guy has inspired me to market myself better.

Let me attempt to clear a few things up because it seems that I'm having difficulty making my position clear.

With steroids, and any drug for that matter, there is a risk/reward factor. For me, the risks outweigh the rewards. Steroids can be safe if they are administered by a doctor (hormone therapy). However, due to the illegal nature of steroids, I doubt that most people who gear up are consulting physicians. Also, any doctor worth his salt wouldn't administer steroids to a guy in his 20s or 30s unless there was a damn good reason. Getting swole is not one of those reasons.

The reason I brought up heroin is because they are similar to steroids. When Bayer first synthesized it, they marketed it as a safer and less addictive alternative to morphine. You have guys like William S. Burroughs and Lou Reed who make it to old age while banging up the whole time. Opiates also have medical use as pain relievers.

However, look at the crew I used to run around with when I was shooting dope. There are only two of us left. Most of them are dead, and the few that aren't are in jail. I was the only one that didn't hurt myself or get into trouble with the law. I had many good times while doing it. Would I ever tell someone that was thinking about doing heroin to go for it? Nope.

AFAIK, he died of a congenital heart defect unrelated to any steroid use.

You are not basing what you are saying on actual experience.

Everything you have written has come from mainstream media sources.

Yet no one critically examines these sources.

The scare mongers say that 3 million men use steroids each year.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/ma...index.html

Well, where are all of the bodies? Shouldn't we have an epidemic of dead steroid users?

Where are the bodies?

The list of "people who died by steroids" always includes professional wrestlers - who are addicted to pain killers and who suffer dementia from repeated micro-concussions. NFL players kill themselves in higher than normal numbers not because of steroids, but because their brains have been damaged from repeated head trauma.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/junior-seau...--nfl.html

If a virgin posted about game, then the virgin should qualify his statement with, "I'm a virgin. Now let me tell you all about game."

When it comes to steroids and gym culture, you are a virgin who only knows what he has read, not what he has experienced.

A nice example of his style - he had an nerdy sounding Muslim name (Aziz) in country muslims weren't too popular in. Instead of abandoning it Hollwood style, he just shortened it and then OWNED it (Zyzz), making it cool by extension.

Mike: Just watched the documentary. Couldn't stop once I started. Seems like a lot of guys have unrealistic expectations surrounding steroids. They aren't going to solve any of your problems, but they aren't going to do anything bad to you either.

Obviously there are benefits to using some juice in order to attract women and compete in various sports, but other than that I can't see the obsessive need for them.

I'll probably give them a try by running a small dosage of testosterone and seeing what happens to me. This probably won't happen for a little while, but I definitely want to try it someday.

One of my good friends is a young doctor. One of the things I've learned from him is that if you're born with a congenital heart defect, then you should never lift weights.

Apparently, weight lifting with a deformed heart can kill you. I guess in order to lift your heart must be in perfect condition or else it can be damaged from pumping so much blood through your veins during a big lift. This is well documented, and that's probably why Zyzz died. Had Zyzz known about his condition, he could have avoided weight lifting and done something else to get into shape, such as swimming. Regular cardio doesn't affect the heart like lifting does, because while the heart does work harder for cardio, the heart is pushed much much more in short bursts with regular lifting.

Funny how no one talks shit about lifting being dangerous, and instead people blame steroids. The reality is that regular lifting is ultra dangerous if you don't use proper technique, and have careful examinations by your doctor before you start.

Steroids should be the least of a lifter's concerns.

More importantly and on the same subject where in the world do you find out if you have some strange heart shape like all those guys?

No matter what sport you can get fucked with a bad heart size. Friend of mine saw him die straight up during the race. Guy was a beast for US standards.
