Data Sheet Assistance

Over the years I've gotten fantastic info from the Roosh V Forum.

I just took a trip and want to write up a data sheet.

Trust me, I have a story to tell. The problem is I keep writing it out, and it sounds like a five year old writing "what I did on my summer vacation" or something like that.

I read the travel section guidelines, and still no dice.

How do you data sheet guys do it?

I think there was talk of a template, and I can't find where or if that materialized.

Mahalo in advance for the help.

Aloha!

Data Sheet Assistance

I've only written one but I just had a few beers and wrote down all of the thoughts that I collected in my head during the stay. After its all down then I just went back and cut and pasted stuff into sections and deleted parts that didn't really add anything.

I tried to start writing by filling out a template but for me writing flows easier when I put it down as an unorganized stream and fiddle with it later.

Here's Neil's post about it:

I only wrote one as well, but those were the guidelines I followed.

I've only written up one data sheet, but I started with a general introduction, broke the city down neighborhood-by-neighborhood, then concluded with a few more general thoughts.

Writing tip: Try to stay as objective as possible. Keep your personal experiences out of the description of where you went. Save your stories for the very end. Include pictures.

I'm by no means an expert on data sheets, but it seems to me like there are two types of sheets people usually write here on the forum.

One is more story-like, sometimes a narration of the author's time in the city. Ex: Minsk, by polish rumble

The other one displays information more objectively. While it may include personal stories, it's usually written in the form of topics and bullets/lists, with a short(er) explanation or personal experience in X or Y place. That's the style I used to write my two data sheets, one on my hometown São Paulo, Brazil, one on Osijek, Croatia.

I've used this style mainly because I sometimes have a hard time telling stories in english as it is not my mother language. And while I like reading this type of sheet when I'm actually going somewhere, I really enjoy style no. 1 as a lighter, more fun read.

So it really depends on how you prefer to write, as they can be equally informative.

Also, I find Neil's guidelines to be helpful, specially when you still haven't been able to get the steam going.

And I would advise you to put some pictures. Maps, photographs, whatever. I think people love seeing the stuff you describe "alive".

As I said, I'm no expert, but if you think you could use a hand putting your thoughts on paper you can hit me up.

Good luck!
