I am just wondering about this whole thing - because having been told today that this is a VERY COMMON phenomenon has created a lot of questions in my mind as to why it is (I don't still buy the whole 'biological need' explanation)...

One of the discussions which have happened often in these women's boards in CS is how men from certain cultures swamp women with messages and undue attention. I always felt that this is not a culture specific phenomenon, as I know as many nice Indian guys as say European guys (and I do know quite a few of the latter also), so in extrapolation, there would be as many 'seedy' guys in all cultures....and I remember saying in some of the threads that some men from certain cultures get a bad name because the intentions of large sections of men across cultures is the same, except that in some cultures, men, having been exposed to more gender interactions have learned to be more subtle about their intentions, while in some cultures due to a lack of enough feminine contact, these men don't really know how to put across these intentions with the same subtlety. And frankly, I for one would not know which one I prefer more. One where I can easily identify an intention, and one where I would not be able to (and no, I don't think that if I was played and I found out that I was played, I would still chalk it up as a 'fun' experience - see there is a difference when its in a bar or in a somewhat date scene where both parties are on the same page. In CS its obvious that both parties are NOT on the same page).

This thread particularly, with being told by everyone how this is accepted male behavior all over the world, has just convinced me of this above argument. That men in certain cultures attract undue flak, just because they are not well conversed in the subtleties of camouflaging their intentions well enough.

I would have accused her for leading you on. Say she was acting really flirty and you touched her arm while talking to her. As soon as you heard her say that she didn't appreciate it, you stopped doing it and focused on the NYE party instead of her.

It did cross my mind to reply with something like you suggested, but I think it's better for me to stand my ground and not be ashamed of my actions given the situation.

Yep, I happened to be an easy target after she's had enough CS dudes creeping her uptight ass out. When I first saw her review, I just had to laugh.

These women need to be adults in dealing with stuff like these, but we all know that's too much to ask because society thinks they're "pretty, delicate, little flowers" that must not be ravaged with life.

Come to think of it, my reply to her is still "vanilla." The negative comment should've included that:
