Eggs

^^ Eating 15 boiled eggs is difficult.
That's why I never do it.

I always "hide" eggs in my meals.
Let's say I've made some meat in my crockpot. Then I just take a few scoops of meat and sauce and put it in my pan. Then I crack 7-8 eggs over it and mix it up as long it's heating up.
The result is somekind of meat salsa with scrambled eggs.

Twice a day. Easy peasy, filling and nutrious.

I agree with you. Easy, filling and nutritious....

Also, an inexpensive source of good protein and good fat - that's probably what makes them nutritious and filling.

Probably, I should increase my egg consumption, but I do NOT usually consider my diet in terms of a daily basis. I have had days in which I have eaten more than a dozen eggs; however, probably on a weekly basis I eat one to two dozen eggs.. that means that my current average is probably around two eggs a day.

When I buy the packs of 5 dozen eggs, then I probably eat more eggs during those periods, but there will be days that i skip eating eggs and I eat other foods for variety, and when I have lots of eggs in my fridge, I probably still only average 3-4 eggs a day, even though I will have some days in which I eat a dozen or more eggs.

I am in my 20s, eat at least 12 eggs a week, healthy cholesterol.

I had high blood pressure and dropped it with a reduction in salt. Eggs seem to be fine for me so far.

Yup. the heat of the rice will cook the egg as you mix it in.

I eat anywhere from 6-10 whole eggs per day. They're really just unbeatable. Affordable, nutritious, easy and versatile.

Some days I'll have eggs pre and post workout (along with fruit/veggies and some kind of meat). My favorite thing to do that is just stupid easy, is cook some frozen shaved steak in a frying pan, pull the steak out and cook 3-4 eggs in the left over fat. Steak + runny egg yolks = fucking incredible.

I eat eggs all the time. My favorite dish to make is eggs and rice.

Cook up some white rice and fry up some eggs a little but leave the yolks nice and runny, then cut up the eggs in the rice so the yolk runs everywhere.

I also recently discovered this Japanese dish where you dont even have to cook the eggs. The egg will cook if you mix into the hot rice. It takes virtually no time to prepare.

instead of soy sauce, I use sriracha sauce.

I tried it, very delicious and simple to do. This is gonna be my go-to stuff when I don't have time for a proper meal.

Spray on a bit of diced bacon/sausages and some soy sauce or fish sauce, there you go.

I love eggs and eat them several times per week. Once I own enough property with some land on it, I'm going to raise my own chickens instead of depend upon goodness knows what goes into the commercially farmed ones.

I make a kind of "super oatmeal" with added eggs for brunch. Halfway in cooking your usual oatmeal add two eggs and a little bit of dark chocolate and cinnamon (the last two for flavoring). I love it! [Image: banana.gif]

That sounds lush. Wrong yet right. Will try.

I mentioned this on the resistant starch thread but will add it here also. If you do scambled eggs, a great thing to add is farina (potato starch). About thirty grams for five eggs- mix it in once they're cooked. It changes the texture and adds a subtle flavour. The texture becomes that of a perfectly 'half done' yolk when you hard boil an egg. I started because I didn't fancy mixing farina in water to get my resistant starch each day. Now it's an essential part of my morning eggs and fish.

Lots of people I talk to are still saying you should not eat more than 6 eggs a week.

I know this might have been beaten to death, but what's the verdict on how many eggs/week starts having a bad effect on your health?

Eggs are nutritious as fuck.. though better if the chickens are eating grass and bugs rather than GMO grain... but anyhow... That's all bullshit and propaganda regarding the lipid hypothesis and the cholesterol are bad for you theories.. that lumps in eggs are bad into their framework.

You can look up Jimmy Moore and egg fest, and start reading about eggs from perspectives from guys like that and the ones with whom he affiliates himself.

In sum, there is NO science to assertions that eggs are bad for you, yet maybe 100 (that's about 14 eggs a day) a week may be too much of the same thing (so you are NOT able to eat other foods because you are full from eating too many eggs in the day)? Surely 20-50 eggs a weeks should NOT be a problem...

For dietary diversity and diversity of palate, I am NOT sure why anyone would want to eat more than 50 eggs a week (that's about 7 eggs a day)... If you eat that many eggs, eggs may start to get the feeling of old and lack of diversity... even though they are very nutritious

I go through 6 eggs a day, at least mon-fri, the weekends are always a toss up with what my diet is gonna be.

I eat 3 sunny side up in the morning, with a bowl of oatmeal and a cup of greek yogurt. Combine that with a protein shake and I'm getting somewhere around 60 grams of protein with very low fat. My entire meal is cooked in under 5 minutes.

I then eat the other three as hardboiled eggs throughout the day, normally as quick snacks.

Every sunday I hardboil 15 eggs in one bath to last the week. Hardboiling is fast, the peeling of them is a pain in the ass and to this day I still haven't mastered it.

You just simply can't beat eggs. If you have a healthy diet and an active lifestyle, you don't even have to worry about the fat content of the yolk. And I can get a dozen eggs for about $1.50.

Anyone here get there eggs the most masculine way possible - Drinking them raw?

My peeling secret:
Try steaming your eggs next time, just pop them in a pot on a veggie steamer or colander or whatever. After 10-12 mins I pop them in a bowl full of water and ice and wait another 10 mins. They peel amazingly, and I think it's faster because you don't have to wait 20 mins for a whole pot of water to boil, just a quick 1 inch layer at the bottom.

Boil them a bit longer than this guy for a harder yolk, he does too short for my preference.

I just boil the jug, then poor some into a saucepan which is already boiling cos you did it in the jug, cook eggs, cool fast and the shells basically fall off.

Has anyone mentioned sticking a pin in the bottom of the egg to avoid cracking when cooking in the shell? Well do that, it relieves the pressure from the sack at the bottom.

I could eat eggs the rest on my life. Gods gift to man.

I love eggs too, I would have about 2 a day, but since the news of more than 6 eggs or 4 yolks a week hit, I've been cautiously treading the line of an egg every other day for a max of 4 a week, if it came to that.

I also love eggs, I want to know what is the popular think accross all four corners of the globe. Maybe each member living in a different region can divulge how many eggs a day/week is safe for intake.
That would bring valued knowledge that transcends borders, continents, and even languages to this thread.

What if what we are told isn't the truth?
I would love to make this an international egg love-affair with input from all over.

Great thread. When I'm on track with my diet, I do 3 hard boiled eggs with a salad at lunch and then 4 or 5 at night. I usually scramble them with some ground beef or fry them and eat with steak.

It took me a while to get used to it, but I really like frying eggs in coconut oil. It doesn't brown the eggs as much, but it still crisps it enough to be tasty.

Eggs are eggs.

Apply heat they get cooked.

Put them in shit that is cooking and it will taste like eggs, more or less depending on how much eggs you put.

Eggs taste like eggs.

If you want your shit to taste like eggs, put eggs.

I have a new favorite way of cooking eggs, it's super easy and convenient:

Put oil/butter in a pan on a lit stove, and wait until it's hot.
Crack eggs on top
Put some sort of metal lid on top of pan. This seals in heat/steam and lightly cooks the top of the eggs while keeping them tender, while the bottom of the eggs are crispy.

When you don't put a top on the pan, the top of the eggs are raw. So you have to flip them, which gets messy, and makes the yolks all hard and crumbly.

Sooth, I see a banning in your future. Vapid, asinine, low quality post calling other users stupid, more or less.

Yeah agree with you Basil, this thread is great and I can't get enough of the food threads on RVF, something as simple as cooking an egg has a million variations. If we had a thread on "What I Had For Dinner Today" I'd read it religiously, love getting new ideas, everything from bone broth to steak to pressure cookers to slow cookers

Nightwing:

I think that you are really restricting yourself when you agree to follow the mainstream propaganda and stick to 4 or fewer eggs per week. Further, you already said that you feel better when you eat more eggs. In any event, there is NO evidence that eggs are bad for you... You should look at the Jimmy Moore eggfest information (http://livinlavidalowcarb.com/blog/tag/eggfest) and also various information that is linked to Jimmy Moore's blog... and maybe you will begin to understand the various motives of industry to lie to us regarding: cholesterol, fat, which includes lying about eggs and a number of other things.

Yes, if you really like them, then you should up their intake into your daily routine.

likely if you are worried about various food that you eat, you need to cut are various carbs from your diet (I personally attempt to keep carbs below 20%, but sometimes I let it slip a bit higher into possibly up to 30% range) - Sometimes, people get worried about fat, but the fats that you need to cut are various processed fats and processed oils. Coconut oil is good and butter and animal fats... and in that regard eggs have good fat in them (in the yolks, of course).

Tell us your age, how long you have been doing this, why haven't you keeled over from clogged pipes, do you eat anything else, what's your body look like, are you in good shape for your age, do you exercise, etc. etc. etc. ?

Let's just say you eat 50 eggs per week - that's about 45 eggs more than the stupid ass mainstream recommendations, how could you still be alive?

And, tell the truth: Do you get bored with eating so many eggs? what does your body tell you about needing other nutritional variation? do you have negative symptoms? do you rotate into some other kinds of food emphases from time to time?
