Well, I live in Copenhagen, Denmark. I am a fashion student and I was interning in NYC at designer Malia Mills in june-september 2011. I rented two apartment from Airbnb while I was in NYC, but I rented with a friend and it was her airbnb profile we used. I wont be in the room that much, because I will be out most of the day. So I just need a place to sleep and eat you know.Is there anything else you need to know?

Looking through airbnb there is not one place listed within 40 miles of my crib, which is located right outside the largest tourist destination in Wisconsin. (It's a small town but a big time tourist destination in the summer)

So, I did a search for rentals in my town and all that comes up are some very amateurish looking sites with a bunch of houses for insane prices. Some of the places are just nice mobile homes and they are asking over a g a week while 6 bedroom homes are going for 7 grand/week.

I think I will be listing my place both for a room or the whole house. For the rent I should get for a week or longer I'll just stay in a frigging hotel if someone wants the whole place.

I don't have a pic online or my phone but this place is very very similar;



Mine sits higher, it's on a sidehill, so has a walkout basement. So the steps to the front deck are on the side on mine instead of straight out the front.

Otherwise almost exactly the same exterior and surrounded by woods, oaks and pines, just like the one in the pic.

You actually drive through a tunnel of trees on the road it's located on.

Figure I should be able to get $1500/week on it with the location and amenities.

Things like jetted two person tub (4 in a pinch ), two fireplaces, serene surroundings, big deck, fire pit, 10 minutes to town, etc.

I don't think anyone has mentioned this.
but airbnb is great for bringing chicks home.

Unlike CS where you got your host hanging around. Alot of people just give you the apartment and go.

When I pick a chick up in the new city..I just tell her i just moved here and she can come to place.
I've only done this twice, but its worked well so far.

Sometimes its cheaper than a hostel or hotel and much more homelike.

With the two chicks i felt like there was much less last minute resistance considering they thought it was my home instead of some loaned hostel room

Yup. I use Airbnb exclusively for this purpose.

Get a whole apartment for the weekend downtown and it's easier to pull girls to than to a hotel.

It's also a good solution for the younger cats who still live at home. Need a place to bang a girl? Airbnb to the rescue.

I'd like to hear some more input from players using airbnb to circumvent shitty logistics at their own house.

All the pads I see nearby me (while nice) almost all seem to involve being around the hosts at some point of the stay. I see it being awkward when I bring a chick over to bone and the owner of the place is watching TV or some shit. Most ads I see don't seem to imply any sort of guarantee of privacy.

You're right. Now that i'm looking more closely at a lot of these adds they actually have a cover charge for "extra guests".

But in all honesty this is one of those ideas that sounds really good on paper but the bullshit variables will inevitably cockblock you. I think for guys in my predicament (shitty home logistics for banging) the best course of action is a modified version of this tactic. Find a buddy who has his own pad with extra rooms and not many roommates. Tell him honestly what you're up to and see if you can work something out. Maybe you can pay him each time you use the room or have some sort of monthly arrangement worked out. You wouldn't be there the vast majority of the time, only when you have a bang lined up.

It should technically be a great deal for him, providing that you're not too "disruptive" and keep your space tidy. He has these extra rooms he was shelling out rent for anyway. He gets some extra cash on the side and he's doing you a solid.

I've negotiated a host to do our payment off the site. She seems col and we've chatted a lot but a direct bank transfer leaves me very vulnerable. How would you suggest payment being made in this situation? It's over $1000 so cash will be impractical. I'm thinking about some kind of escrow but I have no idea how that works.

I've done escrow through US bank. Basically they are a 3rd party that holds the money/trust/property until whatever terms you both agree on are fulfilled. I wouldn't do it for the amount your talking about because of the fees that are associated.
Try your bank if you're interested.

What about a money order? I am pretty sure you can track whether or not it has been cashed, it isn't tied to your accounts, you get a receipt, and the other party can verify if it is valid. Not sure how long she can keep it without cashing it though.

I have a funny story about the Airbnb founder, who I no longer am connected to, hence this share.

TL;DR - Didn't bang.

I used to live in SF and one of my boys worked with the girlfriend of the Airbnb founder. They were good friends at work so some of my boys hung out with her and her man a few times, though I only met him once I believe. Dude was your typical SF techie CEO. Dressed like an unassuming hipster, just a notch above Mark Zuckerberg.

His girlfriend was pretty attractive. I'd say an 8, but for a techie she was off the charts. Mexicana chick. Anyway, with my base circle in SF (mainly guys I knew from DC who relocated), I was the most alpha (though that's not saying much haha). They would all talk about my travels and crazy stories whenever we'd link up and start drinking.

Anyway, one time at my boy's bday party, the Airbnb founder and his girl came through and she noticed my presence among my circle and was giving me good IOIs. That was the first time I met her and as everyone was mixing and mingling, I started chatting her up. Her boyfriend wasn't around. I was DHV'ing her about what I do, where I've gone, etc. Airbnb guy who was away came back and was listening in. Then he went into what he does (which I already knew). He learned that I had used airbnb during their first launch during Obama's first inauguration. I had made a killing renting out my spot to some tourists. He was real pleased in a way that impressed his girl. She was above his league but he would do shit that few other guys can really do. First of all, he didn't drive. Always had a driver on call. Second, he would do shit like hit up his girl on a Friday evening and tell her a car was picking her up to go to the airport because he's taking her to England for a weekend (in a plush airbnb spot of course).

But still you could get the sense that she wasn't too taken aback by him. She was only riding it out (pun intended) since it was better than the alternative for her. So when the guy left to talk to someone else, I mentioned to his girl how corny he was. Imitating things he had said. She was laughing and I then switched to her and started talking about sex, telling her different ways I would fuck her. It was definitely way over the top in that kind of situation, but I had already been drinking quite a bit and gave zero fucks. She ended up giving me her number but my game was really about getting it that night. She didn't respond when I texted her a few days later, likely because she was in the comfort zone of her relationship again.

I feel if I had hung out with them a lot more I would have been able to take his bitch, at least for one night. I ended up leaving SF while they were still together but just heard they broke up not too long ago. What's funny is that even after that night at the party, I would hit up the guy via e-mail anytime I made a booking on airbnb because he would give me vouchers. He came through a couple of times. But any e-mail requests since they broke up have went unanswered...
