Interestingly enough she got busted for something that is almost barely considered a PED, and not the most common female steroids like anavar or test, which provide the real advantages. Seems like her team fucked up and managed to hide the results of the actual steroids which provide the bulk of the advantages but missed out on this comparatively minor chemical.
For anyone who's interested, they found traces of ibutamoren (also known as MK-677), an oral chemical which at best increases sleep quality, and provides mild increases in HGH levels for slightly increased growth and recovery, barely anything compared to actual HGH injection. It provides some slight benefits but nothing compared to the actual steroids that most female crossfitters are on.
So in essence she got nailed for one of the least important compounds of the stack that she was on, and has her career come to an end as a result (pretty sure a 4-year ban from the crossfit games would be a career-ender right there).
Ibutamoren is extremely powerful, actually. I used to it to repair heavily damaged joints and it was nothing short of miraculous.
Several studies confirm it is on par with injectable growth hormone for increasing IGF1 and GH. Also makes you hungrier and thereby helps with food intake/recovery.
It can greatly amplify the effect of anabolic steroids, which she was almost certainly on as well. She just happened to get caught for the ibutamoren.
In addition, ibutamoren can cause muscle gains during calorie deficits, just like anabolic steroids.
